O Programa de Pós-Graduação em Doenças Tropicais (PPGDT) integra o Núcleo de Medicina Tropical (NMT) da Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA), realizando atividades de ensino, pesquisa e extensão e atuando na formação de docentes-pesquisadores para o estudo e o ensino das doenças tropicais e das patologias regionais no estado do Pará e na Amazônia.

Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Diarréia aguda: avaliação dos sinais de alarme na estratégia da atenção integrada às doenças prevalentes na infância(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2002-06-28) PAULA, Soraya Nedeff de; AMORIM, Cláudio Sérgio Carvalho de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8144230236195341The integrated of childhood illness, consist to reduce the mortality and the morbidity of the children through a kind of adaptation which would improve the health system, the health workers, and the family education that would provide knowtedge to the mothers to be able to detect the symptoms of the acute diarrhea. With the purpose of evaluate the knowledge of the mothers or responsibles about the signs of the acute diarrhea were collected information from 174 mothers or responsibles for children under 5 years old which were infected by acute diarrhea, at the Cosme e Damião Infatile Hospital, located at Porto Velho - Rondônia, during the months of march and may 2001, against the AIDPI standard form. The results showed that 64.36% of the mothers could not detect the symptoms of the disease, 59.20% of the mothers didn't feed the children appropriately during the diarrhea period, 92% of the mothers had the knowledge of giving the children much liquids as the acute diarrhea developed. Considering the good results that were collected at this present study, the method of the AIDPI standard form were approved.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Prevalência de anticorpos anti-vírus da hepatite A em escolares no município de Porto Velho, Rondônia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2002-06-25) MOREIRA, Lucinda Maria Dutra de Souza; AMORIM, Cláudio Sérgio Carvalho de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8144230236195341The evaluation of antibodies prevalence against the virus of Hepatitis A was perforrned frorn September to December of 2000, in one hundred eighty-five students from different socioeconomic levels, including an age group from six to fifteen years, in two schools in the municipal district of Porto Velho, Rondônia, through commercial ELlSA tests (Dia Sorin) for detection Total and IgM anti-HAV antibodies. It was evaluated ninety students of medium and high socioeconomic level came from private school and ninety-five students of low socioeconomic level came from public school. Forty-five of the ninety students (50%) from private school presented positiveness in the test for detection Total anti-HAV antibodies and four of them (8,9%) were positive to IgM anti-HAV too, while, in those came from public school, ninety students (94,7%) presented Total anti-HAV antibodies and only one of them (1,1%) was positive for IgM anti-HAV (p < 0,05). Factors, such as family income, destiny of domiciliation dejections and quality of consumed water were also studied and compared to the anti-HAV prevalence, presenting significant differences among the groups. The results of this study indicated that HAV is endemic in the area and that measures, such as improvement in the sanitary conditions of the municipal district, are necessary to reduce the propagation of HAV in the population.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Situação vacinal de crianças atendidas em uma unidade de saúde na cidade de Porto Velho(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2002-06-26) CANIZARES, Vivian Susi de Assis; AMORIM, Cláudio Sérgio Carvalho de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8144230236195341This study analysed the vaccionation of 173 children under 2 years old attended at the ambulatory of Policlínica Hamilton Raulino Gondin, situated in Porto Velho. The data were collected in the period frem May to September of 2001 and it was made by filling in a model form. The children's vaccination cards were analysed for previus annotation. The social-economics status and culture situation of the children's families were investigated too. The vaccination delays found were 6,4% for yelow fever vaccine, 5,8% for first and second doses of measles vaccine and for third dose against Hib disease. The most relevant cause for vaccination retard was the mother's lack of information. The maternal age detected was between 19 and 25 years old. 63,0% of the children's guardians had an incomplete elementary schooll education. The average family income was between 1 and 2 minimum salaries.
