Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Apuração, desinformação e whatsapp na rotina jornalística: os atravessamentos da pandemia de Covid-19 nas redações de TV de Belém (PA)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-06-02) SILVA, George Luiz Miranda da; CUNHA, Elaide Martins da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3778190981135428; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7723-7055Like other activities, Journalism also needed to adapt to the so-called “new normal” with the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic. WhatsApp - which was already widely used by TV stations in Belém (PA) - became even more strategic for the production of television news after the start of the health crisis. Producers began to accumulate functions and use the app even more in information traffic and in contact with the public, characters, specialists and official sources. In view of this, the purpose of this research was to investigate what are the procedures adopted by these professionals to filter and verify the information that reaches the newsrooms, through WhatsApp, after March 2020, the month in which Pará registered the first case of Covid-19 and the firsts restrictive measures were implemented in the State. This work also proposes to indicate the profile of the professionals who are part of the journalistic production staff of the TV stations in the capital of Pará, including gender, age group and time of profession, in addition to mapping the perception of these professionals about the fight against disinformation, the challenges of producing and the defense of Journalism when the press is suffering so many social and institutional attacks. The research is supported by the concepts of Information Disorder (WARDLE and DERAKHSHAN, 2017), Participatory Culture (JENKINS, 2009), Interactivity (LEMOS, 1997), among others. To achieve the objectives of this study, a qualitative approach methodology was adopted and online interaction application techniques were used, which included 28 professionals from six stations in Belém, in addition to semi-structured interviews and participant observation. The survey results indicate that 100% of those who use WhatsApp do it in their work routine and most of them feel responsible for combating misinformation, although some were in doubt whether they have already aired a content without proper investigation. The most common checking procedures among producers are: asking the complainant for more information, researching the matter on the internet and asking official sources for a position. As for the profile of professionals, the study shows that the production staff of the stations is formed, mostly, by young professionals with little career time. The survey also pointed out that professionals face conflicts in carrying out their work, mainly due to the accumulation of functions and the precariousness of the profession.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Cartografia sensível: televisão, interação e afetividade entre público e o programa Sem Censura Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-03-10) VENTURA, Jússia Carvalho da Silva; CUNHA, Elaide Martins da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3778190981135428Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Fotojornalismo em cenários de convergência: reconfigurações, inovação, cultura participativa e práticas profissionais(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-03-22) SIQUEIRA, Thaís Christina Coelho; CUNHA, Elaide Martins da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3778190981135428This research aims to investigate the reconfigurations through the photojournalism in the context of culture of convergence (SILVA JUNIOR, 2012), characterized by technological, market, social and cultural transformations (JENKINS, 2009). Such changes alter the ways of producing and consuming content, leading many communication companies to invest in innovation and to rethink their practices. In this scenario is photography, which since the beginning of the 20th century accompanies the written text in the constitution of news from newspapers, gain more information autonomy, becoming, in many cases, protagonist of the information. We start from the assumption that in this scenario the photojournalism comes to occupy a central place in the construction of the news. In view of this, this study focuses on three central questions: what changes can be observed in the current photojournalism in terms of innovation in languages and formats? How is the participation of users in photographic production for news portals? And how do these transformations affect the professional practices of photojournalists? For a better understanding of these processes are discussed convergence culture concepts and, more specifically, convergence journalism (SALAVERRÍA; NEGREDO, 2008; SALAVERRÍA, 2010; SALAVERRÍA, AVILÉS E MASIP, 2010); the particulars of cyber media (HERSCOVITZ, 2009; ZAMORA, 2011); reproducibility and multiplication of technical images (BENJAMIN, 2012; 2014); the types of images present in the press (BAEZA, 2001); the characteristics of photojournalism on the web, mainly in its convergent stage (SILVA JUNIOR, 2012); the photojournalistic genres (SOJO, 1997); the formats of photography used by journalism in contemporary times (PEREIRA, 2016); innovation in journalism (FUCK; VILHA, 2011; BARBOSA, 2011; MACHADO, 2010; FONTOURA, 2015; MARTINS, 2017); and participatory culture (JENKINS, 2009; JENKINS; GREEN; FORD, 2014). Besides that, we will also discuss the concepts of narrativity (MOTTA, 2013); of photographic narrative in the culture of convergence (SALLET, 2015; HENN; SALLET, 2012); and the implications of the culture of convergence on the professional practices of photojournalists (SILVA JUNIOR, 2011; 2012; SOUSA, 2013; SALLET, 2014; FERREIRA, 2014; RAMOS E MAROCCO, 2017). We start from direct observation and content analysis to examine the photojournalistic content in the websites Diário Online (DOL), UOL and Clarín, based on the photographic categories prepared byPereira (2016). The methodology also includes semi-open interviews with photojournalists and news websites editors and with a photojournalist and researcher, seeking to discuss the professional experiences and the visions of these subjects about the photojournalistic production in the convergent context. The results of this study point out that the news portals have sought to embrace innovation in photojournalism, investing in multimedia resources that make possible to explore the informative potential of photography, such as galleries, slideshows and 360º images. We also observed a reconfiguration in the narrative forms of photojournalism, with emphasis to the photographic production in sequence, a growing participation of the public in the production of images that compose as analyzed news and increase the space for this participation, with a view to the users' engagement. Finally, we identify that, in general, professionals point these transformations even as a natural process in the development of photojournalism and believe that, with strategies, training and a greater appreciation of their work by companies, professionals tend to expand their repertory.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Geração 60+ na internet : relações tecnológicas, tensões e produção de sentidos na pandemia de Covid-19(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-02-14) SIMÕES, Camila de Andrade; CUNHA, Elaide Martins da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3778190981135428; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7723-7055The study is interested in the relationships of people aged 60 or over with everyday technologies, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The reference years (2020 and 2021) are marked by a health crisis experienced worldwide, of undulating administration, with regard to Nation-States and, also, internally. In Brazil, physical distancing measures and hygiene guidelines have become a central issue and, in this context, digital communication technologies have taken on a previously unseen centrality. When considering groups of people who may have shown more evident distancing from connected screens, the research focuses on the experience of the elderly, as a starting point. This qualitative research departs from a communicational context to encompass the phenomenon of expanded social doing. Some of the theoretical fronts activated during the argument are in the field of aging (chronological and social), identities (generations), material culture, and power relations, starting from a set of meanings produced by the interlocutors of the research. As collection methods, the digital form and focus groups were used. With that, the Thematic Analysis (TA) showed a path of interest, with the necessary flexibility, in the search for speech patterns, paths of meanings, and senses produced by the investigated. To help with the task, the Iramuteq software was used on the fronts of statistical analyses, similarity, descending hierarchical classification, and presentation of word clouds. By opening up the range of findings, the initial concern about the heterogeneity of the experiences of older people is reinforced. Life, health, economic, and family conditions, for instance, will directly influence the so-called independence (more connected to physical issues) and the desired autonomy (decision-making; self-government). The main screen used was the cell phone to talk to family and friends. Among those who maintained active professional relationships during the verified period, it was possible to perceive a smaller field of friction. In general, the meanings that emerged from these relationships are paradoxical – they contain, roughly speaking, positive and negative points – and translated into technologies seen as access, a door to new learning and possibilities, at the same time as a set of spaces of danger, insecurity, and mystery, especially among those who used the term fear to refer to digital experiences.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Inovação social nos veículos jornalísticos independentes: um olhar para as narrativas sobre povos indígenas na Amazônia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-06-02) DUARTE, Glenda Suelem Magno; CUNHA, Elaide Martins da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3778190981135428; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7723-7055This dissertation seeks to analyze and understand the manifestations of innovation in journalism by looking at the productions of the following journalistic vehicles: InfoAmazonia, Agência Pública and Amazônia Real. The three of them classify themselves as independent vehicles and prioritize the Amazon in their posts. In order to compose the research corpus and delimit the investigated theme, a total of 38 reports on indigenous peoples in the region were selected. As the main theoretical references on communication and innovation in journalism, this research is based on studies by Rosseti (2013), Barbosa (2014), Longhi and Flores (2017), Pedro Varoni (2017), Martins (2018, 2021), Longhi (2020), Martins and Sousa (2020), Storch and Feil (2021), among others. A qualitative methodological approach is adopted, through State of the Art research techniques, with Norma Ferreira (2002) and Sampaio and Mancini (2007), and Content Analysis, with Laurence Bardin (2011). Among the innovation axes identified in the state of the art, we used the 'narrative' axis as a category of analysis. Based on this proposal, we sought to understand whether this and/or others axes of innovation in journalism are present in the analyzed reports and how they are constituted and delineated in these productions. It was based on the hypothesis that independent vehicles have their own way of addressing the matter of indigenous peoples, focused on a narrative of social nature that seeks to value the protagonism of these peoples in their approaches. With this, the main results point to the themes 'indigenous female protagonism', 'invasion of indigenous lands', 'politics', 'resistance', 'covid-19 (health)' and 'violence', contributing to the understanding of the social dimension of innovation in independent journalism.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Questão racial no Instagram: uma análise dos conteúdos publicados pelos vereadores da 19ª Legislatura de Belém(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2022-08-29) ARAÚJO, Marcus Vinícius Passos; CUNHA, Elaide Martins da; //lattes.cnpq.br/6730514752933340; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3778190981135428; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7723-7055This research articulates three relevant axes: communication, politics and racial issue. From the publications of the councilors of Belém (PA) on Instagram, we seek to understand the actions of these political actors focused on racial issues. All 35 councilors of the 19th Legislature (2021-2024) of Belém are present on Instagram. During the term of office, these councilors posted 8,696 publications in the feed specifically in JPG (image) format. In this scenario, this digital media appears as an environment that combines audience, resources and multiple possibilities to disseminate themes, among them, racial content. To guide this discussion, the following question was formulated: “How are the actions of the councilors of the Belém City Council aimed at the black population constituted and how is the racial issue represented in these actions, disclosed in their profiles on Instagram?”. The search for this answer involved the contextualization of the process of appropriation of digital media by political agents. Research by Kahwage (2019), Gomes et al. (2013), Vieira (2017) and Nunes (2013) will show that in the use of this communicative environment, councilors do not disassociate themselves from their constitutional responsibilities. The concepts of race and racism are fundamental to understand and analyze the issues that revolve around the racial debate in Brazil. Works by Almeida (2020), Deus (2008), Munanga (2004), Gomes (2012) and Hall (2015) contribute both to theorizing the racial scenario and to help in the identification of racial themes, such as racism, discrimination and representativeness. The methodological procedures, supported by studies of content analysis by Bardin (1977) and Sampaio and Lycarião (2021), made it possible to identify 382 publications with references to racial issues. From the creation of a code book, with 20 analytical categories, it was possible to better understand the content of these publications. Among the results revealed are, for example, which councilors are involved with the racial cause, the main racial issues addressed and whether racial contents are linked, above all, to commemorative dates, according to the premise formulated in this study. Another significant result concerns the profile of those who published the most on the racial issue: left-wing black women with higher education as a basic level of study. In addition to expressive results, this work is also marked by the thematic originality when relating political communication with racial issues debated in municipal legislative mandates within the sphere of Instagram.
