Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Uma Cartografia do lixo em Belém (PA): distribuição espacial de depósitos irregulares de lixo e o dever do estado para o desenvolvimento sustentável(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-08-17) GONÇALVES, Diego Andrews Hayden; CORBIN, Hisakhana Pahoona; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3256845970027095This research sought to analyze the spatial distribution of informal deposits of solid waste (dumpsites) and the State's role in terms of waste management while seeking to foster socioenvironmental sustainability of Belém. For this reason, a mixed methods case study was undertaken, as qualitative and quantitative data were collected from multiple sources. The research confirmed that the spatial dispersion of garbage in Belém does not follow a specific dispersion pattern. In this sense, numerous small-sized garbage dumps are spread across different neighborhoods, especially the so-called peripheral ones, on heavily trafficked avenues, on cycle lanes, on sidewalks, in front of commercial establishments, on deteriorated infrastructure, in front of uninhabited residences, at the entrances to small residential streets, and the banks of urban canals. As it relates to waste management, the municipality has been looking for ways to address illegal dumping of waste in the city, but it has not been successful in solving this problem, which is characterized by a range of socio-environmental, legal, and other consequences.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Estudo de caso sobre os impactos socioeconômicos de reassentamento involuntário sobre as famílias atingidas pelo Programa de Saneamento da Bacia da Estrada-Nova (PROMABEN I), Belém-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-06-26) TAVARES, Angelo Cezar Pinho; CORBIN, Hisakhana Pahoona; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3256845970027095This research sought to analyze the socioeconomic impacts of involuntary resettlement on affected families by the Estrada Nova Basin Sanitation Program (PROMABEN I). With this focus, a single case study was undertaken, using mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative), to ascertain the socioeconomic impacts of resettlement on families resettled in the Antônio Vinagre Housing Complex. The study confirmed that the economic recovery of these families remains questionable eight (8) years after resettlement. In this light, being involuntarily resettled at a distance of 5.5 km away from the area of origin, families continue to incur increased spending on basic services and goods including water, transport and electricity, which were absent or minimal before being resettled. Employment opportunities have dwindled particularly for women and food items have become inaccessible in supermarkets in resettlement zone. Although there are visible improvements in housing and sanitation among resettled families, social conflicts continue to plague them as they adjust to vertical housing and to share utility bills. Therefore, resettled families face the social risk of impoverishment almost one decade after being resettled, as is reflected by living below the national and regional (North Region) poverty line as of 2017. This situation is aggravated by aging, long distance resettled from area of origin and distortions to income earning activities among resettled families.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Mulheres quilombolas e uso de plantas medicinais: práticas de cura em Santa Rita de Barreira/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-04-13) GUEDES, Ana Célia Barbosa; CORBIN, Hisakhana Pahoona; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3256845970027095This study focused on the use of medicinal plants among women of the Quilombola community of Santa Rita de Barreira, where natural resources are used to treat the collective health of their ethnic group. The community is located 12 km of PA 251, in the rural area of the municipality of São Miguel do Guamá, in the state of Pará. The research sought to understand the use and manipulation of plants for medical purposes for the treatment of collective health, for the transmission of the knowledge related to this manipulation, for the leadership, for the sociocultural, symbolic constructions and collective practices of control of the territory by the women of the community. Additionally, the strategies for the preservation of the way of life of this social group were explored. In contemporary times, these people identify themselves as Quilombo survivors and are recognized as Quilombola by the Brazilian State and by the residents of the municipality for having received, from ITERPA, the title of collective land ownership on September 22, 2002. As a methodological procedure, a bibliographical research on the subject matter was conducted. An oral history of the community was explored through semi-structured interviews conducted with some members (men and women) of the community. Given the nature of the research, photographs were also taken as a proof of evidence. Data was collected in June, July and August of 2017. Most women use herbal remedies in this community, and this practice occurs due to their cultural heritage, and also because of the lack of implementation of public health policies in the region where the research was undertaken. The knowledge related to the use of those resources has been transmitted by women across several generations. Thus, the curandeiras (healers) and benzedeiras (healers) have been, over the years, re-shaping this knowledge to address the health of this local social group. The women of this community play several roles for their subsistence and that of their families, and for the treatment of the health of the people residing in the community. In this way, they breakaway from roles recognized by Eurocentric values, thereby becoming fundamental to the well-being of their social group.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Tecnologia da Informação e Comunicação (TIC) na gestão da pós-graduação interdisciplinar da UFPA: um estudo de caso sobre o Sistema Integrado de Gestão de Atividades Acadêmicas (SIGAA)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-02-27) VIEIRA, José Nilberlanio; CORBIN, Hisakhana Pahoona; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3256845970027095This research sought to analyze the Integrated System of Management of Academic Activities (SIGAA), as an Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and its relationship with public management in the organizational context of a Higher Education Institution. A multicase study using mixed methods (qualitative and quantitative) was undertaken in two interdisciplinary postgraduate programs - PPGDSTU/NAEA and PPGEDAM/NUMA, of the Federal University of Pará. The study aimed to investigate the usefulness of the SIGAA for the academic and administrative management in these programs based on the reflections of professors, students and technical-administrative staff. The results of the study confirmed that SIGAA is a system that has proven to be useful for the academic-administrative management of the programs under study, in that it was capable of data retrieval and proving information that contribute to the decision-making process. However, in view of some students, SIGAA has been underutilized in response to the resistance of some professors of both programs in exploring all the potentialities present in the system. Thus, it is suggested that there be constant training for all user categories and an institutional policy to stimulate more intensely the use of this technological tool to achieve the objectives of the postgraduate programs, which for are subset of UFPA.
