    Haplologia no falar paraense
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-04-23) PAZ, Flávia Helena da Silva; OLIVEIRA, Marilucia Barros de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9728768970430501
The objective of this paper is to show the phenomenon of spontaneous speech in Haplologia citizens Pará. The study refers more specifically to what we call Haplologia between sentences. Evaluates the contexts of sentences composed only of d/ - /d/, /t/ - /d/,/t/ - /t/ and /d/ - /t/, exemplified respectively by: la(du) dʒi fora, per(tu) du, a gen(t∫i) t∫inha medu e tu(du) t∫inha. The factors evaluated are divided into two groups: linguistic and extralinguistic aiming to show the circumstances favorable and unfavorable to the application of the phenomenon under study. Groups of linguistic factors are: Relationship between palatalization and haplologia; Quality of vowels; class elided syllable word; Tonicity of neighboring syllables, and syllabic structure;. With regard to extralinguistic factors, we analyzed: Sex. Age and schooling, following the stratification proposed in the project Linguistic Atlas of Pará (ALIPA). The data analyzed comprise the corpus of two cities Pará Belém, capital of Pará, and Itaituba, Pará city which is 891 km from the capital mentioned. Data collection followed the guidance of Sociolinguistics Variationist. The data were submitted to the program variable rule VARBRUL. The results indicate the haplologia as variable rule, however, the phenomenon is few productive among informants the two cities. In the assumptions of Sociolinguistics Variationist (Labov, 2008) palatalization, the increasing height of the vowel and consonantal deconstruction of the group can be considered a process of embedding, while the phonetically-phonological rules would be considered the feeder haplologia (BISOL,1996).

The present work describes the production of the Interdental Fricatives of the English language by Brazilian Portuguese speakers (BP) who are learners of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in the Foreign Language Program of UFPA/ILC/FALEM. The aim of this research is to investigate the possibilities of substitution occurrences to the voiced Interdental Fricative and its voiceless counterpart in syllable onset and coda. The outcomes are analyzed based on the Feature Geometry Phonology, by (Clements & Hume, 1995).The data were taken from the reading test performances of twenty-two students of English at Falem’s Cursos Livres. 12 third level students and 10 seventh level students were involved in the research. We intend to illustrate the itemized graphical representation of the substitution process that speakers of Brazilian Portuguese (BP) who are learners of English as a second language (ESL) articulate, specifically regarding the interdental fricative segments of the English language in its voiceless and voiced versions /Ɵ/ e /ð/, in the process of acquisition of the English phonology. Different types of segments were encountered in our research, as results of the substitutions, such as: [t],[tʃ],[d] [f] and [s] for the voiceless interdental fricative /Ɵ/ and [t],[d],[s],[f],[v] and [tʃ] for its voiced counterpart /ð/ . The main types of processes observed were: (a) Strengthening, (b) Posteriorization (c) Sonorization (d) Palatalization (e) Labialization (f) Epenthesis and (g) Resyllabification. All resulting of a previous process called Nativization.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-10-09) GODINHO, Cyntia de Sousa; OLIVEIRA, Marilucia Barros de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9728768970430501
The current investigation describes and analyzes the palatalization of alveolar stops / t / and / d / followed by [i] sound in the speech of 32 informants from Pará, starting from data collected by the project ALiB - Linguistic Atlas of Brazil, within the North Regional, in eight cities of Pará (Almeirim, Altamira, Belém, Bragança, Jacareacanga, Marabá, Óbidos and Soure). Data analysis was based on the theoretical and methodological assumptions of Linguistic Variation of Labov (1972, 2008) and on the quantitative sociolinguistics (GUY; Zilles, 2007). 1539 / t / and / d / before [i] contexts were observed, contained in the Phonetic-Phonological (QFF) and Lexical-Semantic (QSL) questionnaires , from the ALiB, which, after being coded, were analyzed statistically with the use of multivariate analysis program Goldvarb X in order to determine the linguistic and extralinguistic variables favoring the process. The results demonstrate that the palatalization of alveolar stops is a phenomenon in semi category speaking of paraense people, being stable. The variable is linked mainly to linguistic and geographic factors.

The present text is a geossociolinguistic study of the portuguese spoken by the Asuriní do Xingu and the Araweté. The research have considered the recent geolinguistic studies in indigenous territories, the atlas of the Guaranitic zones (Atlas Lingüístico Guaraní-Románico, ALGR) and the atlas of portuguese of indigenous areas (Atlas Linguístico do Português em Áreas Indígenas, ALIPAI), for the definition of its theme which is the portuguese lexical variety of Tupí-Guaraní indigenous societies. The study aims to map part of the lexical diversity of the portuguese of the Asuriní do Xingu and the Araweté. The research is justified because the portuguese of the two indigenous ethnic groups has never been registered nor interpreted by a variationist approach. The data were collected through the semantic-lexical questionnaire of the Linguistic Atlas of Brazil from 4 indigenous collaborators per village, 2 Araweté villages, Ipixuna and Pakaña, and 2 Asuriní villages, Itaaka and Kwatinemu. That is, 16 people in total and four communities. The indigenous collaborators were stratified by sex (men and women) and age group (young people and middle-age people). After data collection, they were treated and mapped. The results show that the Asuriní do Xingu society presents more lexical diversity in relation to the Araweté society for the investigated portuguese and that the young men of these two societies are the social profile that most presents lexical variation. Thus, the Asuriní do Xingu and the Araweté present different levels of lexical knowledge in portuguese as well as the speakers of each ethnic group present different levels of that knowledge within their societies that undergo sociolinguistic influences of the surroundings, geographic influences and influences of socio-cultural factors of these two people

As vogais médias pretônicas nas capitais da região norte do Brasil
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012) DIAS, Marcelo Pires; OLIVEIRA, Marilucia Barros de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9728768970430501
This dissertation aims to describe the behavior of the middle unstressed vowels based on informants speech of six capitals of northern Brazil, namely: Belém (PA), Manaus (AM), Rio Branco (AC) , Macapa (AP), Porto Velho (RO) and Boa Vista (RR). The research is justified by the importance of describing the variety of Brazilian Portuguese spoken in the Brazilian Amazon and for contributing to linguistic description of the Brazilian Portuguese (BP). We used data from the phoneticphonological (QFF) and lexical-semantic questionnaires (QSL), instruments of data collection of the Linguistic Atlas of Brazil (ALiB). The data were transcribed with the use of Transcriber and then subjected to the use of the variable rule program VARBRUL which provided the relative weights useful for the analysis and variationist linguistic reflection. The groups of established factors for the description and linguistic analysis of the behavior of middle back unstressed vowels were the following: the nature of the stressed vowel, the distance between the stressed and unstressed vowel, the unstressed onset segment, the following syllable onset segment , gender, education , age and origin of the informant. Variants [i], [e] and [ɛ] were found to variable . To we found [u] [o] and [ɔ].The outcomes show [e] and [o] as the most frequent variants in the speech of northern Brazil.
