Dinâmica socioeconômica e desmatamento na Amazônia

This text shows the importance to understanding the rationality of actors and the motivation, both of individuals and groups, which show the main causes of the advance of the economic activities and of deforestation. This is revealed in the analysis of socio-spatial strategies and the main social actors and economic agents present in new frontier areas. It reveals the present mechanisms in the relation between the interests of the economic agents and the political processes. It examines how networks are built to integrate the local and the globe, defining the tendencies to the globalized market action in the region.

Interações rural-urbano: a sociobiodiversidade e o trabalho em portos, feiras e mercados de Belém, Pará

Many species that represent Amazonian sociobiodiversity, in addition to their ecological role, also exert an impact on the economy by means of their various usages — alimentary, therapeutic, ornamental or for handicraft — and reflect the productive potential of the islands of the municipality of Belém and other parts of the State of Pará. The promotion of those products boosts the activities in the marts, wharves and marketplaces studied — the Ver-o-Peso Complex, Porto do Açaí, Porto da Palha, the Jurunas Supply Complex and the Icoaraci Riverbank Mart — and insere the reproduction of rural social groups and informal urban workers, who number over a thousand individuals directly involved in their trade, organized either singly or in families, and mostly earning a monthly income of one to three times the minimum wage. It is essential to consider the riverine waterfront of Belém as a place of interaction between the rural and the urban, so as to allow for a critical analysis of the forms of appropriation of the city, or social production and reproduction of the work system, the actors involved and the benefits of sociobiodiversity.

O lugar da mulher e do negro no mercado de trabalho no Pará

O perfil do mercado de trabalho do Estado do Pará mostra alterações nas duas últimas décadas, decorrentes sobretudo da implantação de empreendimentos industriais de grande e médio porte, estimuladores de número expressivo de pequenas empresas prestadoras de serviços. Todavia a expansão decorrente desses novos investimentos e as flutuações do mercado, podem ser acompanhadas apenas através de dados estatísticos aproximativos. Para a Região Metropolitana de Belém (RMB), a qualidade das informações modificou-se positivamente com a realização da Pesquisa de Emprego & Desemprego1. Os dados levantados estão organizados de forma agregada, inclusive totalizando informações de natureza diferente - grupos de cor - o que dificulta uma análise mais refinada desse material. Permitem, porém, identificar tendências e explorar algumas hipóteses que contribuiriam para esclarecermudanças ou permanências de alguns padrões de organização e de reestruturação do mercado de trabalho. As informações qualitatitivas e com corte por ramos - a exemplo de setores industriais como alimentação, construção civil e serviços - ajudariam a ampliar o conhecimento sobre a estrutura e a dinâmica do setor analisado e do mercado. Neste artigo procuramos abordar, com base em fontes sobre emprego, censos demográficos e observações de campo em pesquisas anteriores sobre o perfil do emprego por setores de atividade e mais amplamente, sobre o mundo do trabalho nas empresas estudadas, dois ângulos do perfil ocupacional do Estado do Pará e da Região Metropolitana de Belém - o gênero e a raça2. Sob essa perspectiva buscamos compreender os mecanismos de dominação e as hierarquias presentes na sociedade e que são reproduzidas no mercado de trabalho.

Mobilização política de comunidades negras rurais: domínio de um conhecimento praxiológico

Este artigo analisa a presença de comunidades negras no Estado do Pará, cujos lugares estão marcados de história e processos de territorialização. Mapeia essa presença e os conflitos em torno da terra ocupada desde seus antepassados. Identifica processos de identidades reatualizadas e a mobilização política em torno da titulação de terras na modalidades de remanescentes de quilombos. Do ponto de vista metodológico, procurouse construir uma experiência de pesquisa diferente desde a construção do objeto e dos instrumentos de trabalho até às possibilidade de constituir-se uma "antropologia" ou uma "sociologia da ação".

Mudanças sociais e gestão ecológica em questão: a experiência de Mamirauá

Study on the social changes involving traditional population after the creation, in 1990, of an environmental conservation unit in the Mid-Solimões River, Brazilian Amazon aimed to conserve an area known as the largest wetland ecosystem in the world. The analysis places local producers in relation to the ecological market and agents of sustainable development. The study covers 49 localities of the Amazon flooded forest, with information obtained between 1991 and 2006. The analysis identifies the social agents who integrate the socio environmental field constructed with social environmental intervention policies.

Políticas de ordenamento territorial, desmatamento e dinâmicas de fronteira

Concerning the Amazonia State action, in the federal and state government, this article analysis if the territorial ordainment politics may generated social efficacious and best use of natural capital, considering the socioeconomics dynamics in course. In the empiric plan, the research which has been given to this work was realized in the region crossed by the BR-163, Cuiabá-Santarém Road, in the Pará State. The social reality is composed of both logical diversity and rationalities that determinate the social practices. Being In this perspective that examines the State action e its politics both territorial ordainment and fundiary, as a counterpoint to the predatory dynamic of the frontier expansion and deforestation, being understanding that the rationalities of actors and its motivations, both individual and collectives, are important in the definition of the State socialspatial strategies.

Questão fundiária e sucessão da terra na fronteira Oeste da Amazônia

In Brazil, in the second half of the 20th century, several state land organizations were created, which tried to solve the growing confl icts for lands. One of the main objectives of these state land organizations was to garantee the access to the rural property, that is, to make that the largest number of people could have a piece of land to work. Another role was that of the management of the public patrimony. However, in practice, one noticed that the management summed up more in incorporating the devoluted lands into the patrimony and then transferring them to private people, than in thinking about a policy in which the way of use and management of the natural resources would be defi ned by the institutes of lands. We tried to show this issue related to the production of several forms of land conflicts linked to the performance of the state land organizations, as well as the understanding of these confl icts in a new legal and political conjuncture, since it is necessary to define, in the governmental organizational structure, which one is the state organization or the instance responsible for the execution of the land policy, for management of the natural renewed resources and, principally, for the devoluted lands. The analysis of the land situation and of the confl icts in the area of Br-163 (Cuiabá-Santarém Road) is highlighted in how the visualization of the land structure is important for the elaboration of a strategic plan of a social, economical and ecological ordering.

Trabalhadores da Albras e sua organização política

As of the late 20th century and beginning of the 21st century, workers organizations have deeply changed. Workers struggle to defend their interests and those of the society in general have become more and more difficult. This study analyzes the particularities of the present status of Albras workers political organization, based on the changes undergone by the company, and how those changes affected the Metal Industry Workers Union of the State of Pará (SIMETAL). It tries to understand the challenges to the workers collective actions towards a new structure within the industrial capitalism.

Tradição e modernidade: a propósito de processos de trabalho na Amazônia

Este artigo propõe-se a discutir a noção de trabalho a partir das observações sobre a diversidade de processos de trabalho e padrões de gestão, estreitamente relacionados, mas tratados separadamente pela literatura especializada. Das modalidades de organização da produção encontradas na Amazônia contemporânea, examina aspectos do trabalho desenvolvidos pelas populações ditas tradicionais ou organizadas em unidades de pequena produção familiar e situações de trabalho assalariado em pequenas e médias empresas. Tece considerações sobre os padrões “modernos” de gestão do trabalho em empresas de grande porte do setor mínero-metalúrgico e as formas de articulação com as anteriores. Analisa as situações particulares de trabalho interrogando as possibilidades de reprodução de grupos locais, de sua cultura e dos recursos naturais dos ecossistemas tropicais, necessários à manutenção dessas formas de trabalho.
