Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) "A conquista do Amazonas": Antônio Parreiras e a sua representação na Amazônia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-09) CASTRO, Raimundo Nonato deThe painting “A Conquista do Amazonas”, by Antônio Parreiras, is rich in detail and capable of referring the viewer to the colonial period, however, it is a production from the beginning of the 20th century and it is possible to see the construction of an identity regional by which marks the birth of the State of Pará beyond the borders with the other states of the federation. Antônio Parreiras was responsible for painting his masterpiece that would remain in Pará as part of the republican project of building national symbols. With this order, Antônio Parreiras organized his first historical screen. In this perspective, the main objective is to identify the various aspects present in the screen. Noting that the screen narrates one of the great achievements of the colonial period, but its production is part of a project to build a regional identity. So much so that the screen is divided into three key moments. The first relates to the act of conquest, in which the reading of the pose term is made. In the center, the five members of the expedition led by Pedro Teixeira hear in a solemn manner, and there is no manifestation of disrespect. The second moment is related to the idea of civilization in which the European leads the indigenous element towards living in society and progress. And lastly, the almost absolute predominance of European technologies, since the sails of the Portuguese vessels occupy a prominent place, if compared to those produced by the Amazonian natives.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O lápis endiabrado: adrelino cotta e a caricatura em Belém do Pará nos anos 20(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-11-29) CASTRO, Raimundo Nonato de; FIGUEIREDO, Aldrin Moura de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4671233730699231The city of Belém in the 1920s carried in the imagination of its population the idea that the urbs was marked by its “modern” aspects. And the ideal stage to reinforce this imaginary was the pages of the periodicals and weeklies that circulated in the capital of Pará in the first decades of the twentieth century. It is precisely in this context that the figure of Andrelino Cotta was able to construct, through his analyzes, images that were able to question how “modern” Belém was seen in the notice of the various problems experienced in the capital of Pará. With the caricature representations, for example, the periodicals had the guns capable of conducting the interpretations in the process of symbolic formation, creating stereotypes, which look for represent the city. In newspapers and magazines, they constructed representations of the most diverse, such as those of humorous character that were marked by the brief, concise, truncated, fast and reversed aspects of meanings, demonstrating a certain familiarity. In this aspect of ideological dispute, the intellectuals were active in the editorial circuit, in special, the comedians stood out for construct by pencil the artistic production filled with double interpretation.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Sobre o brilhante efeito: história e narrativa visual na Amazônia em Antônio Parreiras (1905 – 1908)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012) CASTRO, Raimundo Nonato de; FIGUEIREDO, Aldrin Moura de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4671233730699231The screen A Conquista do Amazonas by Antônio Parreiras seeks to represent the Lusitanian dominion over Amazonian people, demonstrating the sovereignty of white people, a fact essential for the initiation of the Brazilian Republic. In this case, the picture is an attempt to revive the great Lusitanian achievements, using an analogy, as if the Republican establishment gains grand scales, characteristic of European conquests of the colonial period. Therefore, having a last fact, capable of generating a unity, it was considered essential to the formation of a nation. Being characterized as a spiritual principle, considered sacred and based on a heroic past. In this case, the nation was a large-scale solidarity, constituted of the perception of the sacrifices made in the past. The artist played a key role in seeking the origins of the existence of the nation, imagining it, so, to present it to the citizens, confronting them, even in the most distant locals of the nation.
