Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Compostagem da casca da mandioca: estudo de caso em uma comunidade no município de Abaetetuba-PA(Brazilian Journals Publicações de Periódicos e Editora Ltda, 2020-09) GARCIA, Waldilene do Carmo; FENZL, NorbertThe production of fertilizer through composting is an effective way to reduce the expense that the small producer has to grow agricultural products, however, the quality of this compost is an essential advantage for the production to have good quality, the environmental issue is also an issue. Strong reason to reuse organic waste and thus help in the ecosystem balance of nature. From that, one of the reasons for developing this research is the need that family farmers have to buy fertilizer monthly, which ends up compromising the economic profitability of some producers, however, the main objective of this work was to produce fertilizer and raise awareness. To properly dispose of organic waste. The research was based on the community of Camurituba-Beira in the municipality of Abaetetuba-Pá, where eight farmers participated, through official theory and practice in the production of fertilizer, with the socioeconomic survey as an instrument of data collection. The results obtained were 90 kg of fertilizer being tested in some crops to check the quality, in addition, the survey showed that the production of fertilizer by farmers can reduce the expenses with the purchase of this compost. Therefore, the research had socio-environmental relevance, since it worked to raise awareness of the correct disposal of waste, as well as pointing out a possible solution for reducing the purchase of fertilizer.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Conflito e gestão ambiental na zona costeira amazônica: o caso da vila do Camará, reserva extrativista (RESEX) marinha mestre lucindo, Marapanim - Pará - Amazônia - Brasil(Revistas Brasileiras Publicações de Periódicos e Editora Ltda., 2020-03) SANTOS, Márcia Cristina; LOPES, Luís Otávio do Canto; BASTOS, Rodolpho Zahluth; FENZL, Norbert; MERLIN, Lise Vieira da Costa Tupiassu; SOARES, Daniel Araújo SombraThe present study identified the existing socio-environmental conflicts and the main problems of environmental management in Vila de Camará, in the Marine Ext activist Reserve (RESEX) “Mestre Lucindo”. In this perspective, the relevance of this work consists of analyzing a community within a recently established Amazon Conservation Unit (UC) situation, which shares a great natural resources wealth. Considering that RESEX is in the management initial stages, the reflection on the existence of such conflicts and the measures taken by the managing body, in the figure of ICMBio, as well as the proposal of strategies capable of reducing such conflicts, make this study still more important. The methodological steps carried out were: bibliographic / documentary review and field visits. The main socioenvironmental conflicts verified at the site were: extremely conflicting land distribution; environmental degradation at Lembe Beach and overfishing. When focusing on Lembe Beach, two conflicts stand out: the irregular construction of tents (bars and restaurants) and the disposal of their waste directly in the sea / mangrove.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Pandemia viral e pandemia econômica(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020) FENZL, NorbertThe article deals with an analysis of the socio-economic and political context of the Cornoa-19 pandemic, based on the globalized neoliberal delusion, which destroys the resilience of countries in facing epidemics or pandemics like the one we are facing now. The dismantling of public health, unemployment, malnutrition and hunger not only weakens the individual's immune system, but also what we can call the immune system society. Therefore, there is no point in treating the pandemic as a simple public health issue and waiting for the vaccine as the savior of the country. Without a systemic approach, realizing the true complexity of the subject that is much broader than the virological issue, we will not be able to draw any sustainable lessons from this pandemic.Artigo de Evento Acesso aberto (Open Access) Produção de adubo através de compostagem em uma comunidade no Município de Abaetetuba-PA(Universidade da Amazônia, 2019-11) GARCIA, Waldilene do Carmo; FENZL, Norbert; SIMÕES, Aquiles VasconcelosArtigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Os recursos naturais no processo de desenvolvimento econômico capitalista: uma breve reflexão(Centro Universitário Augusto Motta, 2019-12) RODRIGUES, Suzi Carolina Moraes; DIAS, Luís Augusto Lisboa; CARVALHO, André Cutrim; FENZL, Norbert; LOPES, Luís Otávio do CantoThe present article discusses the historical context of human interaction with nature, which took place through the use of available natural resources, from their use for subsistence to the period of the great transformations caused by the industrial revolution and the growth of capitalism. contemporary, to which man began to produce in surplus aiming primarily at profit. Over the years the way man has appropriated nature to meet his needs has brought a series of disastrous consequences, both to nature and to man directly or indirectly. Eventually leading to conflicts and disputes over natural resources that are becoming increasingly scarce. Fishing is one of the modalities that generate the most conflict when it comes to the dispute over natural resources. In the Amazon, fishery resources have been negatively impacted by several factors, which has triggered an alert to fishing communities to create fisheries agreements to practice sustainable management, thus ensuring the availability of fishing stocks and maintaining the food security of the riparian.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) A sustentabilidade do desenvolvimento e a demanda material da economia: o caso do Brasil comparado ao de países industrializados(2000-12) MACHADO, José Alberto da Costa; FENZL, NorbertThis paper deals with the relation Society-Environment. Based on the System Theory, a theoretical background is established to understand that relation and, at same time, to enable the operational access to its dynamics. Then, a methodological approach, focused on material flows accountability of the economic process, is connected to that theoretical matrix. From this approach, known as Material Flow Analysis (MFA), the Economic-Environmental Metabolism was examined in detail. This concept allows to quantify the energy and material demand of an economy. The analysis of the Total Material Demand (TMD) enables us to know the ecological efficiency of any economic process and allows us to elaborate environmental impact indicators of antropic activities. This study produced an appropriate methodology that was applied to measure the TMD of Brazil and to compare it with the TMD of the USA, Germany, Japan and The Netherlands. The results demonstrated that the methodology is capable of identifying relevant ecological features of the economy, showing that the economic system has its own logic and that in the present conditions it is increasingly unsustainable in relation to the environment.
