Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Adesão ao tratamento da urticária crônica(2007-12) FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud Pereira; MENDONÇA, Mariana Barreira; LOBÃO, Antonio CarlosThis work presents a case study of a woman who had been addressed to the psychology service, diagnosed with chronic urticaria. This woman's main complaint was that the symptoms were still present even though she was complying the treatment. The purpose was to assist the client to promote the installation of new behaviors and to generalize appropriate behavior patterns, looking for a better urticaria control. Ten sessions were carried out in the hospital, by using the Constructional approach from Behavior Analysis, through the related episode's functional analysis. Results indicated that the triggering and maintenance of the crises had multiple reasons. The contingency-analysis training accomplished during the sessions had promoted a better control of environmental factors. The patient came to comply appropriately with medication use after establishing functional relations between symptoms and environmental stressors. There was a reduction of symptoms and improvement in controlling the disease. This conclusion suggests a better understanding about the relevance of psychotherapeutic accompaniment to the adherence of medical treatment. Patient's reported an improvement in her quality of life.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Adesão ao tratamento do hipotireoidismo congênito segundo relato de cuidadores(2010-04) OLIVEIRA, Fabiana Pereira Sabino de; FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud PereiraThis study aims at identifying variables which interfere on the entry into the treatment according to reports of caregivers of children suffering from Congenital Hypothyroidism seen at the Center of Reference in Pará State. Fifty main caregivers, with different degrees of kinship to the children and ranging from 17 to 55 years old, took part in this study. The variables related to the treatment entry were identified by means of interviews with the caregivers following structured pilot instructions. Results showed that most of the caregivers are not aware of the characteristics of the disease, its etiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognostic, regardless the age, school degree, kinship and amount of time the child is on the Program, which makes the treatment entry more difficult. In most children, the Newborn Screening Test was not done in the right time, fact that brought damage to the treatment.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Adesão ao tratamento por cuidadores de crianças e adolescentes soropositivos para o HIV(2011-12) SALLES, Caroline Mota Branco; FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud Pereira; SEIDL, Eliane Maria FleuryThis study aimed to investigate the pattern of adherence of caregivers of HIV seropositive children and adolescents and to identify the coping strategies against the stressors of seropositivity. The 30 caregivers that participated in the study responded to a semi-structured interview and a scale of how to cope with problems. A clinical record was used as a secondary data source. The caregivers were classified in an adhesion group (n=25) and non-adhesion group (n=5), based on their behavior related to the use of antiretroviral medicaments and other criteria. No significant differences were found in coping strategies between the groups, except in the strategy based on religiosity/fantasy thinking. The results provide a basis for interventions aimed at reducing psychosocial impacts of HIV.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Comportamento de crianças, acompanhantes e auxiliares de enfermagem durante sessão de punção venosa(2010-09) LEMOS, Isabela Porpino; FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud PereiraThis study describes the behavioral repertoire of fourteen children, aged 4-12 years old, with cancer diagnoses, during a venepuncture procedure for chemotherapy, and of their caregivers and nursing assistants. Data collection was accomplished through direct observation with the use of the Observation Scale of Behavior Distress. Three systems of behavior categories were used (for children, caregivers and nursing assistants). There were no significant differences between concurrent and non-concurrent behaviors of preschool and school children. There was greater behavioral variability among caregivers of pre-school children and higher frequency of verbal behaviors directed to school children among nursing assistants. It is discussed the need of psychological preparation for invasive procedures in pediatric oncology.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Efeitos de instrução e de treino parental em cuidadores de crianças com câncer(2014-03) DUARTE, Inaê Benchaya; FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud Pereira; BRASILIENSE, Izabel Cristina da SilvaThis research aimed to examine the effects of parental training and instruction on observed behaviors in caregivers and children diagnosed with cancer during the venipuncture procedure on an outpatient basis. Nine caretakers participated in three different conditions (Routine, Manual and Training). Family characteristics, parental style, and effects of manual and parental training were analyzed with direct observation of behavior during the venipuncture procedure of children. After parental training, the results showed an increase in the positive effect of the manual for short term behavior change, and an increase in the positive monitoring rates of the caregiver, with reports of generalizations of these behaviors for other contexts. The importance of parenting style as a protective factor for children with cancer was discussed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Efeitos de regras sobre relatos de comportamentos de cuidados com os pés em pessoas com diabetes(2014) NAJJAR, Enise Cássia Abdo; ALBUQUERQUE, Luiz Carlos de; FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud Pereira; PARACAMPO, Carla Cristina PaivaAiming to establish reports on foot care, baseline reports of diabetic adults were registered before experimental manipulations. In Experiment 1, Condition 1, questions were made to 6 participants and their feet were examined. In Condition 2, no questions were made and an exam was performed. In Condition 3, no questions were made and no exam was performed. In Experiment 2, all 16 participants were exposed to rules on how to take care of their feet. In Condition 1, reports were reinforced; in Condition 2 reasons for following the rules were presented; in Condition 3 there were reinforcement and reasons; and in Condition 4, neither reinforcement for reports nor reasons were presented. In all conditions of Experiment 2, the number of reports increased. The effects of the variables involved in rule-governed behavior are discussed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Interação entre irmãos em situação de cuidados formais(1999) FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud Pereira; METTEL, Thereza Pontual de LemosThis research aims at describing the characteristics of families where older children are responsible for carrying out chores and looking after their younger siblings while in their parents absence. Twenty families from Vila Paranoá (a slum in the outskirts of Brasília, Brasil), with one to sixteen year-old children were the subjects of this study. The data were picked up from interviews and sessions of systematic observation of behavior in natural environment. These sessions were carried out during lunch time. The analysis placed emphasis on family organization, performance in home tasks and sibling interation. It has been possible to classify the families into three qualitative groups. The results are discussed in terms of need considering factors of social order in the analysis of family group.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Seguimento de regras nutricionais em crianças com excesso de peso(2015-03) MARTINS, Lana Cristina Cardoso de Oliveira; FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud Pereira; SILVA, Lúcia Cristina Cavalcante da; ALMEIDA, Flávia PinhoThis study assessed the effects of instructions, verbal report training (VRT) and self-monitoring training (ST), with and without the presence of the primary caregiver, on following nutritional rules in obese or overweight children. Two children (P1: a nine-year-old boy; P2: a eleven-year-old girl) and their caregivers participated through interviews performed in an outpatient clinic. Ten interviews were performed. After instructions, P1 maintained and P2 improved the knowledge on nutritional orientation. Adherence to diet scores obtained by P2 were higher than those obtained by P1 in all phases. There was a clinically significant change after the introduction of the VRT in both participants. Efficiency of the intervention procedures used and the importance of the caregiver’s presence are discussed.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Treino em auto-observação e adesão à dieta em adulto com diabetes tipo 2(2009-12) FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud Pereira; FERNANDES, Andressa LacerdaThe present study verified the effects of self-observation over the adherence to a prescribed diet for an adult with Type 2-diabetes. The data collection was brought up by means of home interviews. Following the baseline determination, the following steps were performed: a training on the use of protocols for self-monitoring registration (Step 1), a training on the patient's verbal report over his feeding on the former day (Step 2), and a training on how to plan the adherence to the diet (Step 3). The calculation of the patient's Adherence Index to the Diet (AID) along with his verbal reports guided the data analysis, which revealed an increase in the frequency of self-observation of feeding behavior and in the AID on Step 1. This gain was maintained on Step 2 and further maximized by the training on planning the adherence to the diet on Step 3.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Treino em automonitoração e comportamentos de prevenção de diabetes tipo 2(2012-03) CASSEB, Mariene da Silva; FERREIRA, Eleonora Arnaud PereiraThis study investigated the effects of self-monitoring training for the implementation and expansion of behavioral repertoires considered as preventive in the occurrence of diabetes. One clinical case is described relating to an adult woman with the following risk factors: inadequate diet, overweight, sedentary and a family history of heart disease and diabetes. Home visits were made in order to perform an investigation of the socio-demographic characteristics, a baseline survey of eating behavior and physical activity, training in self-monitoring and a final interview. The results point to behavioral changes regarding the implementation and broadening of healthy eating habits and regular physical activity. The discussion of the case includes aspects that indicate the acquisition of preventive behaviors, relating them to the literature used.
