As "Bonecas" da pista no horizonte da cidadania: uma jornada no cotidiano travesti em Belém (PA)

The present work is a study on the travestytis that live of prostitution in the streets of Belem, state of Para, Brazil. The venal activity that guarantees the sustenance to them admittedly is practiced in the avenues Almirante Barroso and Assis de Vasconcelos, located respectively in the Marco and the Campina’s boroughs. These public ways function as two important corridors of traffic of vehicles of the city, being therefore ideal to trottoir them. The empirical data collected through interviews and field notes had served to the intention of knowing the reality where these professionals of the sex live, which consolidates as hypothesis the idea that their androgynous appearance turns them citizens socio-devaluated with direct implications in their citizenship. It is revealing in this direction, the lack of public politics to this social segment in a way that they fit in the homosexuality concept, especially while a more generic category to explain the desire and the love among people of the same sex. Both in national and local levels, it is possible to verify attempts of implementation of public politics in the form of antidiscriminatory laws that aim not only to benefit gays, but also to the lesbians and travestytis, however these social categoris have been target of resistances of contrary parliamentarians to the advance of the citizenship of these citizens. Among others things, it was evidenced in this direction that the construction of the citizenship for the travestytis in the city is dependent of the performance of the Homosexual Movement of Belem (HMB) in the political mobilization towards rights, as they are not organized such as occurs in other Brazilian capitals. Therefore, one understands that there is a lot to advance regarding social and civil guarantees, so these androgynous citizens, popularly known as "dolls", in fact and through right can become citizens.

Clodoaldo Beckmann (1927–2007): o médico cirurgião e documentalista dedicado à Biblioteconomia

Study about the life and work of the surgeon and documentalist Clodoaldo Fernando Ribeiro Beckmann (1927-2007), founder of the Librarianship at the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). It has the objective of recover the professional dimension of the man who has put his knowledge at service of the Medicine and Librarianship a study of qualitative nature was conducted, it was based on oral history, more precisely by biographic method, allied to documental and bibliographic research and the realization of open interviews and informal conversations with relatives, friends and ex-students. The memory recovered by evidences point the remarkable accomplishments of the Beckmann’s life that made his name entered into the history of Medicine and Librarianship in Pará.

Compreendendo a imigração espanhola no Pará (1896-1899): um estudo a partir das passagens grátis como fontes de informação

It discusses the free tickets granted to Spanish immigrants to settle in Pará State (1896-1899), Brazil, as a source of information. It uses quantitative documentary research to understand the factors that motivated Vigo-Spain/Belém-Brazil migration, as well as to build a profile of the Spanish settlers. Based on a documentary sample from the Spanish immigration archives in the custody of the Arquivo Público do Estado do Pará, the research brings together information on the 792 Spaniards who obtained free tickets. The information recorded on these tickets indicates the origin, boarding ships, gender, age, civil status and occupation of the people in focus. The arrival of the Spanish is associated to changes in the Spanish economy, the 'whitening' of the Brazilian population policy and the need to populate the Brazilian Amazon. The migrants are mostly male, working age and peasants. With the existence of few sources of information on the Spanish presence in Pará, it is important to preserve and diffuse this documentary heritage. In this direction, the search for national and intenational tecnique cooperation is a necessary strategy to archival institutions that guard documents of Spanish immigration in Brazil.

Os conhecimentos tradicionais dos(as) erveiros(as) da Feira do Ver-o-Peso (Belém, Pará, Brasil): um olhar sob a ótica da Ciência da Informação

Study about the traditional knowledge gotten by the herb sellers of the Ver-o-Peso free market, in Belém, Pará, Brazil. On the whole, it aims to contribute with the theme in the perspective of the Information Science. From the point of view of the investigation, it uses the bibliographic and ethnographic research towards the comprehension of the process of acquisition, warehousing and transference of the information about plants, peels and medicinal roots traded by the authors in focus. It verifies that the acquisition and the transmission of this knowledge occurs by the observation and by the orality in the day-to-day contact of the work with those products, kept only in the memory of the owners. Finally, this study shows the risks that permeate the traditional knowledge of the herb sellers of the Ver-o-Peso free market and the possibilities that the theme offers to the Information Science.

Desenvolvendo a competência informacional: a experiência do curso de Biblioteconomia da UFPA com egressos do sistema penal e familiares atendidos pela Fábrica Esperança

The present work makes a register of the extensionist experience in the context of the Faculdade de Biblioteconomia of the Instituto de Ciências Sociais Aplicadas of the Universidade Federal do Pará. This is the project "Building the information literacy through of the strategies of consolidating of the educative use of the Technologies of Information", that among the months of August to December of 2011 concentrated the actions between the people from of the criminal system and relatives attended by the Fábrica Esperança. From the research-action, the subjects in focus were involved in oriented activities to the development of the information literacy in a total hourly load of 160 hours. Among professors, universitarians and technicians, the experience allowed to reflect about the concept of the information literacy, which is basic to think the inclusion and citizenship in the information society.

Henry Walter Bates: um viajante naturalista na Amazônia e o processo de transferência da informação

From the XVII century on, in the Amazon it began a moving of traveler naturalists as they were attracted by the biosociodiversity of the region, which was dominated by a forest of a tropical type. Henry Bates (1825-1892), a Natural History's scholar, was one of them, though he dislocated to the North of Brazil later on, between the years of 1848 and 1859. In such a context and through this paper, it is intended to analyze the process of transference of information that was produced by this traveler naturalist after 11 years of fieldwork. With basis on the bibliographic material that was selected towards this endeavor, it was verified that such a process was successful as an ample circulation of the Bates' published work reveals it. Exactly after the 156 years of this expedition, the scientific production of Bates continue to participate of the academic knowledge's circuit referring to the Amazon in the contemporary times, be it in the field of the Biology, Zoology, Sociology, History or of the Anthropology.

A informação social no corpo travesti (Belém, Pará): uma análise sob a perspectiva de Erving Goffman

Having in mind a woman ideal, the travesties make use of a hybrid morphology, matching signs of masculinity and femininity, but the result is that they disqualified for a major society. This way, based on the notion of Goffman's social information, the objective of this paper is to analyze the bodies of the referred individuals, what is carried out according to a relational perspective. The corpus under analysis is the material obtained from an ethnographic research carried out in 2002 and 2003 among travesties, prostituted in Belém, Pará State. In general, the bodies of travesties show forth a diversity of information which conveys stigma, deviation, violence and wish, in the State capital.

O mito da matinta perera e suas formas variantes em Curuçambaba, Bujaru (Pará, Brasil)

The present study focuses on the Matinta Perera, an Amazonian entity endowed with zoomorphic powers and commonly associated with the female gender. In this direction, we intend to analyse this mythical figure in the context of oral narratives that talk about possible "sightings" that occurred in the community of Curuçambaba, which is a rural area of the municipality of Bujaru, in the north-eastern region of the state of Pará, Brazil. At the theoretical level, the study uses a bibliography that incorporates the contributions of Cascudo, Fares and Silva Júnior to contextualize the myth in its different meanings and to help the understanding of what was heard among the local people. In its empirical conception, the study is drawn based on the oral narratives collected in 2015 in the area in focus. According to the narrators, in Curuçambaba there are Matintas living among them, involving situations of "sightings". In general, the narratives collected about the Matinta Perera point to Amazonian representations on gender, old age and poverty transmitted by the gesture of a story narrating that at the same time scares and educates the younger ones, especially in the rural areas of the Paraense’s Amazon.

A sociedade da informação no Brasil: um ensaio sobre os desafios do Estado

This article treats of the challenges the State faces for consolidating an information society in Brazil. These challenges are illiteracy, the need of developing human resources and the difficulty of any citizen in accessing information technology. Information society is understood as something ambivalen for the Brazilian State. It represents challenges but at the same time opportunities for developing an informational order, characterized by very quick changes in a contemporary society. Therefore, the State has to elaborate and apply relevant public policies for overcoming these challenges in order to build up a more evenly accessible information society in Brazil.
