Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) “A voz da selva”: comunicação para o desenvolvimento(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2009-10-06) FIGUEIREDO, Thiago Antonio de Sousa; SILVA, Marilena Loureiro da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7261982145077537This work was carried out from a communication and local development discussion, in order to verify if the social use of communication by residents in communities included in Sustainable Use Conservation Units has contributed to the organization and therefore to the development of community activities in the locality. This study was performed using the case study and participant observation method in a community located within the Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS) Amana in the state of Amazonas. Two theoretical orientations were used for the analysis: a) the critical theory, initiated by the Frankfurt School and well known in Brazil by the works of Paulo Freire, associated to, b) the reception theory that directs communication studies to the cultural phenomena, showing that the reception is something that is related to local people’s way of life, also considering the importance of media and communication techniques. In this context the results refer mainly to: a) the communication strategy developed in the community study is associated to some elements of popular, alternative and community communication, b) the popular, alternative and community communication, in this case, has contributed to the organization and implementation of community activities through the expansion of information concerning such activities and related mainly to the dimension of social work, community, school and health organization, c) the radio is a promoter of local information, as a means for oral and easy to handle communication, and it is the communication tool most used by residents of the local community in this study.
