Approximate controllability for the semilinear heat equation in RN involving gradient terms
(2003) MENEZES, Silvano Dias Bezerra de
We prove the approximate controllability of the semilinear heat equation in RN, when the nonlinear term is globally Lipschitz and depends both on the state u and its spatial gradient Ñu. The approximate controllability is viewed as the limit of a sequence of optimal control problems. In order to avoid the difficulties related to the lack of compactness of the Sobolev embeddings, we work with the similarity variables and use weighted Sobolev spaces.

Finite approximate controllability for semilinear heat equations in noncylindrical domains
(2004-09) MENEZES, Silvano Dias Bezerra de; FERREL, Juan Bautista Límaco; MEDEIROS, Luiz Adauto da Justa
We investigate finite approximate controllability for semilinear heat equation in noncylindrical domains. First we study the linearized problem and then by an application of the fixed point result of Leray-Schauder we obtain the finite approximate controllability for the semilinear state equation.

Periodic solutions for nonlinear telegraph equationvia elliptic regularization
(2009) ARAÚJO, Geraldo Mendes de; GUZMÁN, Rogelio Daniel Benavides; MENEZES, Silvano Dias Bezerra de
In this work we are concerned with the existence and uniqueness of T -periodic weak solutions for an initial-boundary value problem associated with nonlinear telegraph equations typein a domain. Our arguments rely on elliptic regularization technics, tools from classical functional analysis as well as basic results from theory of monotone operators.
