Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Influência de variáveis meteorológicas na produção de liteira na Estação Científica Ferreira Penna, Caxiuanã, Pará(Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia, 2009-09) SILVA, Rosecélia Moreira da; COSTA, José Maria Nogueira da; RUIVO, Maria de Lourdes Pinheiro; COSTA, Antonio Carlos Lôla da; ALMEIDA, Samuel SoaresThe evaluation of the influence on the exclusion of rainfall on the variation of litter production was done in Caxiuanã Forest Reserve at Ferreira Penna Scientific Station (1º 42 ' S, 51º 31 ' W) during the period from March, 2001 to February, 2003 with the objective of identifying the main meteorological variables and the main components of the monthly water balance that affected the production and decomposition of litter. This work was part of the subproject EXPERIMENT OF DROUGHT IN THE FOREST (ESECAFLOR), that aimed to study the long term impacts of drought on the water, energy and carbon dioxide fluxes in the Amazon forest. The sazonality of total litter production and its components (leaves, brushwood and reproductive parts) was well established, with the occurrence of a greater litter production during the months with lower precipitation. The monthly litter production during the experimental period ranged from 294.78 kg.ha-1 to 1758.69 kg.ha-1, with an average of 777.70 kg.ha-1. The total litter production was partitioned in leaves (61.40 %), brushwoods (18.45 %) and reproductive parts (20.14 %). The results obtained in the undisturbed plot showed a higher litter production, about 25 %, compared to the litter production in the plot under the exclusion of water. The variables more strongly correlated with litter production and its components were wind speed, global solar radiation density flux, photosynthetic active radiation density flux, soil temperature at 5 cm depth, precipitation, soil water deficit and water surplus.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Microbial biomass and soil chemical properties under different land use systems in Northeastern Pará(2011-08) LOPES, Elessandra Laura Nogueira; FERNANDES, Antonio Rodrigues; RUIVO, Maria de Lourdes Pinheiro; CATTANIO, José Henrique; SOUZA, Gladys Ferreira deThe increase in agricultural production in the Brazilian Amazon region is mostly a result of the agricultural frontier expansion, into areas previously influenced by humans or of native vegetation. At the same time, burning is still used to clear areas in small-scale agricultural systems, leading to a loss of the soil productive capacity shortly after, forcing the opening of new areas. This study had the objective of evaluating the effect of soil preparation methods that involve plant residue shredding, left on the surface or incorporated to the soil, with or without chemical fertilization, on the soil chemical and biological properties. The experiment was conducted in 1995, in an experimental field of Yellow Latosol (Oxisol) of the Embrapa Amazônia Oriental, northeastern Pará (Brazil). The experiment was arranged in randomized blocks, in a 2x6 factorial design, with two management systems and six treatments evaluated twice. The management systems consisted of rice (Oriza sativa), followed by cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) with manioc (Manihot esculenta). In the first system the crops were planted in two consecutive cycles, followed by a three-year fallow period (natural regrowth); the second system consisted of one cultivation cycle and was left fallow for three years. The following treatments were applied to the secondary forest vegetation: slash and burn, fertilized with NPK (Q+NPK); slash and burn, without fertilizer NPK (Q-NPK); cutting and shredding, leaving the residues on the soil surface, fertilized with NPK (C+NPK); cutting and shredding, leaving residues on the soil surface, without fertilizer (C-NPK); cutting and shredding, with residue incorporation and fertilized with NPK (I+NPK); cutting and shredding, with residue incorporation and without NPK fertilizer (I-NPK). The soil was sampled in the rainier season (April 2006) and in the drier season (September 2006), in the 0-0.1 m layer. From each plot, 10 simple samples were collected in order to generate a composite sample. In the more intensive management system the contents of microbial C (Cmic) and microbial N (Nmic) were higher, while the C (Corg) level was higher in the less intensive system. The treatments with highest Cmic and Nmic levels were those with cutting, shredding and distribution of biomass on the soil surface. Under both management systems, the chemical characteristics were in ranges that classify the soil as little fertile, although P and K (in the rainy season) were higher in the less intensive management system.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Transpiração em espécie de grande porte na Floresta Nacional de Caxiuanã, Pará(2007-04) COSTA, Rafael Ferreira da; SILVA, Vicente de Paulo Rodrigues da; RUIVO, Maria de Lourdes Pinheiro; MEIR, Patrick; COSTA, Antonio Carlos Lôla da; MALHI, Yadvinder Singh; BRAGA, Alan Pantoja; GONÇALVES, Paulo Henrique Lopes; SILVA JUNIOR, João de AthaydesDuring the “Long-term of impact drought on water and carbon dioxide fluxes in Amazonian Tropical Rainforest Experiment” (ESECAFLOR), this study was carried out, which is a subproject of Large Scale Biosphere Atmosphere Experiment in Amazônia (LBA), located in the Ferreira Penna Scientific Station (FPSS) in the Caxiuanã National Forest (CNF) in Pará State (1o 42’ 30’’ S; 51o 31’45’’ W; 62 m altitude). The region has a well-preserved forest, with canopy of 35 m. The predominate tree species in the landscape are Eschweilera coriacea (White Matá-matá), Voucapoua americana (Acapu) and Protium pallidum (White Pitch). Sap flow measurements were made in the wet season (03-16 December 2000 and 12-25 January 2003), to evidence the effect of long term induced drought, aiming to determinate the transpiration of Eschweilera coriacea. The ESECAFLOR site consists of two different areas with 1 ha each. Plot A (control) and Plot B (rainfall exclusion). The Trunk Heat Balance (THB)method was applied to sap flow measurements, by Sap Flow Meter P4.1 system. Between analysed periods, the mean transpiration of E. Coriacea increased 56% in the tree A237 (control plot) and decreased 68% in B381 (drought plot)Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Variabilidade quantitativa de população microbiana associada às condições microclimáticas observadas em solo de floresta tropical úmida(2011-12) RODRIGUES, Hernani José Brazão; SÁ, Leonardo Deane de Abreu; RUIVO, Maria de Lourdes Pinheiro; COSTA, Antonio Carlos Lôla da; SILVA, Rommel Benicio Costa da; MOURA, Quêzia Leandro de; MELO, Ivan Fiuza deThis study is a proposal for a scientific contribution to the understanding of the interrelationships between density population of soil microorganisms associated with seasonal microclimatic variability in tropical rainforest, also considering a case study of extreme event. Some organisms, especially soil microorganisms are very sensitive to small variations in microclimate (sun light, temperature, soil moisture, wind, sensible heat, latent heat, etc). Surely these conditioning factors are important for understanding the spatial distribution of these living things in natural ecosystems, inhabited by a variety of microorganisms (mushroom and bacteria) that were studied for their distribution and density, using the technique of "Pour Plate" count of "Petri plates" following the methodology utilized for De-Polli and Guerra, described by Clark. This study was conducted in two experimental areas PPBio (natural rainforest area) and ESECAFLOR (one acre covered area to simulate drought) in Caxiuanã-PA, with continuous measurements of microclimatic variables such as temperature, humidity and rainfall, and the evaluation of spatial and temporal distribution patterns of the species abundance and richness, to establish a monitoring procedure of soil fungi and bacteria associated with climate variability in the national forest Caxiuanã. The experimental areas are predominantly Yellow Latossol soils. Microbiological analysis showed that fungi developed better during the dry season and bacteria during rainy season, and their populations decrease with depth, except in a changed environment. Correlation values between seasonal variation of fungi and bacteria population and varying temperature and soil humidity were satisfactorily for any season in both sites.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Variabilidade sazonal da condutância estomática em um ecossistema de manguezal amazônico e suas relações com variáveis meteorológicas(2011-06) RODRIGUES, Hernani José Brazão; COSTA, Rafael Ferreira da; RIBEIRO, João Batista Miranda; SOUZA FILHO, José Danilo da Costa; RUIVO, Maria de Lourdes Pinheiro; SILVA JUNIOR, João de AthaydesThis work investigated the variations of stomatal conductance (gs) in the rainy and dry seasons and its dependence relations with meteorological variables measured in an Amazonian mangrove ecosystem. Data were originated from the ECOBIOMA project, part of the Large Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazon (LBA). Stomatal conductance followed the tendency of the radiation balance variation, reaching maximum values during the day and minimum values at night. The conductance showed greater fluctuations in the rainy season, with mean value of gs = 0.015 m s-1, however smaller in magnitude than in the dry season. During the dry season, the mean value was gs = 0.027 m s-1, with lower range, varying between 0.010 and 0.042 m s-1. The meteorological variables used for establishing the dependence relations with the daily variability of stomatal conductance were the following; specific moisture deficit (δq), vapor pressure deficit (PVD), net radiation (Rn) and wind velocity (Vv). The PVD showed the best correlation with gs, with R2 = 0.99 for both periods. In spite of the importance of Vv in the gaseous changes between the vegetation and the atmosphere, it presented the smallest influence in the mean variation of the gs, with R2 = 0,44 for the rainy and R2 =0,51 for the dry period.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Variação sazonal da população de bactérias e fungos e dos teores de nitrato e amônio do solo nos sítios do LBA e PPBIO, na amazônia oriental(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-09) MOURA, Quêzia Leandro de; RUIVO, Maria de Lourdes Pinheiro; RODRIGUES, Hernani José Brazão; ROCHA, Edson José Paulino da; SILVA JUNIOR, João de Athaydes; VASCONCELOS, Steel Silva; ANDRADE, Mariseth Carvalho de; MANES, Carmem Lara de OliveiraIt is possible that the environmental factors determining the behavior of soil microbiota are being modified by anthropic or natural climate change. In order to check the effect of the exclusion of water over the population of bacteria and fungi in the soil, the present study was developed. The chosen location is the area of the ESECAFLOR experiment, which simulates the occurrence of extreme phenomena such as El Niño event, and the area of biodiversity research program Program-PPBio (primary forest). This later area, supposed to be used for studying the Biodiversity of the Amazon, was used as a control area for comparative purposes. The soil was sampled at 00 - 05, 05 -10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm depths, during the rainy, transition and less rainy seasons. The highest values of Colonies Forming Units (CFU) for bacteria and fungi populations were 196 x 104 CFU/g of soil and 124 x 102 CFU/g of solo, respectively, both in the area without human intervention (PPBio). Soil moisture is the variable influencing most the obtained counting values of fungi and bacteria populations.
