Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Eventos extremos de precipitação em Belém-PA: uma revisão de notícias históricas de jornais(2015-03) CAMPOS, Thamiris Luisa de Oliveira Bradão; MOTA, Maria Aurora Santos da; SANTOS, Sergio Rodrigo Quadros dosThis study examined the socioeconomic impacts of Daily Extreme Precipitation Events (hereafter "DEPEs") in Belem-Pará during the period 1987-2009. The DEPEs were characterized as "extreme" using the Decile technique. The objective of the study was to identify the consequences and the main neighborhoods affected by these events. The years influenced by occurrences of El Niño or La Niña had the lowest or the highest rates of DEPEs, respectively, and as well as the number of articles published in the city's newspapers. The monthly variation showed that the DEPEs and resulting newspaper articles were higher in the "wettest" (summer / austral autumn) period. The newspaper articles indicated that street flooding is the main consequence of DEPEs in the city of Belém-Pará, and that the most affected districts are Cremação, Jurunas and Batista Campos. These neighborhoods are near to one another and are all located in the Travessa Quintino Bocaiúva watershed, which has a low slope that delays the flow of water, favoring flooding. The city's lack of infrastructure is the main reason for the severe consequences of DEPEs.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Regime térmico e hídrico do solo para área de floresta tropical em anos de El Niño e La Niña, Caxiuanã-PA: estudo de caso(2011-09) SANTOS, Sergio Rodrigo Quadros dos; SILVA, Rommel Benicio Costa da; BARRETO, Priscilla Nascimento; NUNES, Hildo Giuseppe Garcia Caldas; RODRIGUES, Ronaldo da Silva; CAMPOS, Thamiris Luisa de Oliveira BradãoThe thermal and hydrologic regime to soil if behave differently in years of occurrence of El Niño, La Niña and that non-occurrence about both (El Niño and La Niña). To study these behaviors, we used data of the hourly total and monthly of rainfall, average hourly and monthly data of soil temperature at depths of 2 cm and 10 cm and soil moisture at depths of 5cm and 20cm, for years the events searched. The results show that the year was about the influence of El Niño had higher temperature and lower values of soil moisture when compared with the year that was on the influence of La Niña. On the other hand the years that there is no occurrence of the phenomena El Niño and La Niña, showed values of soil temperature (moisture) higher (smaller) than the La Niña year, but smaller (higher) than the year of El Niño.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A riqueza das formigas relacionada aos períodos sazonais em Caxiuanã durante os anos de 2006 e 2007(2012-09) SANTOS, Sergio Rodrigo Quadros dos; VITORINO, Maria Isabel; HARADA, Ana Yoshi; SOUZA, Adriano Marlisom Leão de; SOUZA, Everaldo Barreiros deThe temporal variability of ant fauna collected in Caxiuanã -PA during the leaf litter ants protocol of the Project TEAM/Caxiuanã were studied based on the local meteorological conditions observed during the months from January to April (rainfall season), and July to October (dry season) to 2006 to 2007. Data from the micrometeorological tower at Caxiuanã were used. During the rainfall season the predominance of high values of precipitation and soil moisture and low values of air temperatures is noted. In the dry season the opposite behavior compared to the rainfall season is observed. In general, it was observed that the frequency of ants is greater when precipitation and soil moisture are reduced and air temperature is increased. Ants of the genera Crematogaster, Hypoponera, Pheidole and Solenopsis have higher number of individuals. It was noted also that the statistical correlations using second-order polynomial function, between atmospheric variables and the frequency of ants, occurred in reverse mode for precipitation and soil moisture, and direct for the air temperature. Our results corroboreted to the high abundance of the four upper mentioned ant genera in relation to the environmental atmospheric condictions in tropical regions.
