The theoretical approach seeks to relate Visual Arts, Visual Anthropology and Post Colonial Studies to substantiate comprehensions towards the relations and the senses these individuals, within their creative process, let see in the constitutive movement of photography as an artwork with its interfaces with culture, memory and quilombola identity in Amazon. To obtain such objectives, the methodology parts from oral history and image analysis, through ethnographic exercises and image workshops with quilombola children and teenagers. In this sense, at the first moment, these individuals assume the role of visual artists to compose registry about them and about the most significant local landscape, according their choices. At the second moment, we put ourselves listening to the meanings attributed to the records by their creators, seeking to capture connections with quilombola modes of living. We argue that the study of objects of art, taking their joints with the place, their subjects and their stories, constitutes strong evidence of alliances between art and life. On the other hand, this work seeks to uncover and appreciate looks that these people construct about themselves and their culture, which can be an important clue about their silences in visual narratives and unexplored intercultural perspectives through the research in Arts in Amazon and in other regions of Brazil.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) A casa de Marlene(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-06-29) NASCIMENTO, Suely da Silva; SAMPAIO, Valzeli Figueira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6142863342585522This memorial presents the research “Marlene’s House”, which I developed in the Academic Master of Arts, Graduate Program in Arts, Institute of Art Sciences, Federal University of Pará. family and affective memories, in which photos, videos, audios, writings, feelings and emotions merge. In turn, social and environmental issues constitute the focus of constant concern of contemporary times, including for Science Education. Moreover, the science education has been based on willingness to contribute to a correct perception of environmental problems, and promote the formation of a critical and autonomous citizen, able to understand the complexity of the natural and social world, approaching these two fields. In this context, we seek to understand the readings of undergraduate students (biology and physics) about environmental issues prevailing in the metropolitan region of Belém, from photography, and its possibilities of use in Science Education in perception them. We choose a qualitative approach and as methodological strategy, we use action research. The research took place during the workshop "Photography in Science Education", strategy for data collection, in six days, with 10 students. The photo appears as an instrument to facilitate the apprehension of social, economic, environmental, political, educational, among others, and permeate the reading of the environment; in other words, favors extended readings (multidimensional) the socio-environmental context evidenced/lived. Data on knowledge, the understandings and interpretations, among other things, were organized and analyzed using discursive textual analysis. We choose to produce metatexts on apprehension of environmental issues, from the analysis of the texts of the photographs. The analysis showed that the students "(re) directed" the present research. In our assessment, the students reached a level "beyond expectations", the trivial, in its construction, the ordinary stagnated up. This is because, during the students' analytical constructs, we observed the extrapolation of these issues, to other fields of knowledge (social, economic, etc.).Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Cidade como lugar de experiência: uma percepção pelas imagens dos fotógrafos Mariano Klautau Filho e Paula Sampaio(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-08-13) MOURA, Simone de Oliveira; SOUZA, José Afonso Medeiros; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6045766440369156; MANESCHY, Orlando Franco; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6198572031091761This research was developed to study the city's image produced by two contemporary photographers working in Belém and other cities, which are: Mariano Klautau Filho and Paula Sampaio. Therefore, the research focuses on the importance of photography as a historical document that reveals multiple meanings; matter, especially its potential as language or representative of childhood and of a conception of childhood scenario built in the city of Belém do Pará, which comprises the first half of the twentieth century. The photograph is a historical source, is an image / document. In the case of photos for the family album, has a record of family history and family member, not necessarily to be within an album, but only to present such characteristics as literally reveal the ways and circumstances in which the family or part of it is photographed. Have photos of children in magazines, are displacements of the photos that were usually produced for own family's interest to put them on their albums, however, were also used as a means of promoting family loose inside publications in journals or periodicals of the first decades twentieth century. Usually accompanied by a message discursive bringing the "name" of the family. The photograph allows almost everyone (not just the wealthy) can become object-image, or a series of images that depict moments of their lives. In this case, the images found in albums of school celebrations are proof of that: photographs of children exclusively and for commemorative purposes with some annual events present in children's educational leisure. The photograph could be taken as an equivalent of individual and collective memory, with the image of a fixed time, apparently, was "clipped". The photograph of children in journals and family album is a way to understand and meet the social, cultural and educational childhood in the Amazon because the images can reveal many indexes about a family and, by extension, society : their rites, ways of life, affection and ideals. The research corpus is composed of photographs of children archived in the Library Arthur Viana. For further theoretical about photography and image utilize Dubois, Kossoy, Benjamin, Fabris, Milk, Mauad, Burke and Fischman. As for reading about childhood highlight Rizzini, Del Priori, Freitas, and Kulmman. In the context of the reality of the Amazon privilege the following authors: Bezzera Neto and Sarges.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Diante da cidade: uma poética do ao mesmo tempo(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-06-20) GARCIA, Juan Martín Pérez; SAMPAIO, Valzeli Figueira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6142863342585522Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Do clic na EJA ao furo da lata: experimentações fotográficas na educação e no cotidiano(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-03-01) RODRIGUES JUNIOR, Walter Gomes; COSTA, Luizan Pinheiro da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5390750292706184This study reveals two processes of experimentation with the image through photography: the first aimed at a group of students of Youth and Adults (EJA) from a Public School in Bethlehem / PA, and the second directed at a group of young community of the District of Mainland on the outskirts of Bethlehem / PA. As practice-based research, I developed the concept of “Photofabulation” as an artistic practice that emerges for the study and reinterpretation of the XIX century’s carte de visite. Therefore, I challenge and fictionalize the carte de visite created by foreign photographers in Brazil throughout the XIX century that contributed to a history of violence, stereotypes, and one-sided histories regarding the Afro Pindoramic population. I elaborate this process in order to understand how racial stigmas that are present in these cartes de visite have impacted the development of my identity and the history of my family. To reach this proposal, I have created digital interventions in my family’s photo albums aiming to evoke, complement, recognize, and restore the absences generated through the widespread reproduction of the carte de visite. While reflecting upon these images and integrating them into the histories of my family, I hope to establish a more sensible relationship with the past and the memories of my own family’s histories. This research’s methodology includes: a literature review on the concept of Critical Fabulation; digital interventions in images of historical archives; and the digital merging of my family’s (Jinknss and Castro) photo albums. I hope to contribute to the development of artistic counter-narratives that value and represent the experiences and knowledge of Afro-Pindoramic populations in Brazil, exposing an array of complexities that compose of the identity, diversity and history of the country, thus promoting a richer and more inclusive comprehension of Brazilian society.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) A imagem por fora: uma experiência “verbivocovisual” pelos caminhos da errância(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-06-27) TAVARES, Mara Rodrigues; FRANCA-HUCHET, Patricia Dias; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9065267896846482; COSTA, Luizan Pinheiro da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5390750292706184The photographic language, when it reaches the limit of its functional use, opens the potential to produce a new image, an opening to the field of art, within the images estate. When these opening or folding processes are held, it can be said that these structures undergo a delirium in their senses. Within this perspective, this research is based on the concept of the out to point a pathway from where you may think about these delusional openings of the image, as well as the views of the paradoxes to observe how they happen and the notion of becoming to understand from where they become, in order to show and narrate the interactions that exist between: photo-document, photo-expression, colloquial language and essential language. For the study were chosen works from the artists Sinval Garcia (series "Automátic Men") and Orlando Maneschy (series: "Homens de Sangue") produced in the decades of 1990 and 2000. The investigation in the research relied on bibliographic examination on contemporary art, photography, eroticism, and homoeroticism. For this, we used the tests on photograph of Susan Sontag, the study of Charlotte Cotton on photography and contemporary art, in addition of the thought of Kátia Canton on the relationship and implications of image and world, and how this relationship is demonstrated through the body. George Bataille and Afonso Medeiros are references for the study of eroticism. Starting from the perception of my own visual absence in my family’s photographic archive, I sought to insert myself into the forgotten images stored on my mother’s Cyber-shot camera. To do so, I developed a methodology based on the concepts of Autofiction and Databending, which in this research served as technical tools for the creation of Pure Glitch images that form the visual essay belonging to the artist’s book and book-object developed. The text presents a hybrid research approach of a systematic and transdisciplinary nature, organizedin stages of theoretical research and creation and experimentation processes in the studio. With the theme of Poetics of Absence, the developed work makes use of Glitch Art aesthetics as a creative tool to elaborate the concept of Visual Metaphor of Error, thus creating a visuality expressed in images that reflect absence, deterritorialization, and complex questions surrounding memory. Through this study, I aim to contribute to the reflective arsenal of contemporary art and its relationship with works of resistance and counter-narrative, as well as to add to the body of work created by artists from the Northern and Amazonian regions of Brazil. As for the critical aspect, the study further expands on the reflection about the term Glitch Art and Autofiction as an experimental language within the field of visual arts. On a social level, the developed work sheds light on the need to recover marginalized memories, proposing a (visual and theoretical) reflection on absence and belonging, inspiring new creative and appreciative perspectives on art and memory in intersection with technology.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Memórias tecidas de cor: o retrato pintado de Mateus Machado(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-08-13) MACHADO, Simone Alves de Melo; LIMA, Wladilene de Sousa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4769018199137074; MANESCHY, Orlando Franco; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6198572031091761Mateus Machado is one of the few still active painted photography of a legion that not long ago was dedicated to the colorization of manual and manufacture of portraits painted portrait photography.
