Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aconselhamento linguageiro, motivação e autonomia: um estudo de caso em escrita acadêmica em inglês(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-09-04) MARTINS, Marja Ferreira; SILVA, Walkyria Alydia Grahl Passos Magno e; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6129530461830312The difficulty reported by my classmates to write their final papers and the recent studies about language counseling started by me at the time prompted me to promote a research where I could verify the impact of counseling techniques in the students’ learning process of English as FL with difficulties in academic writing. Making connections with other areas such as autonomy and motivation, which had already been the focus of my attention. I decided to conduct a research aiming to verify how the language counseling can work as a scaffold to the autonomy of undergraduate students in English as a foreign language focusing on the academic writing skills improvement and, at the same time, to analyze the impact of this experience on their motivational process. For this, I search to verify, through a case study, how is the relationship between counselor and advised develops and describe, using multiple data collection resources (facebook chat, recording and transcription of chat sessions related to their writing problems and a final interview) to a better performance in academic writing. The results obtained through analysis of the collected material allowed me to observe that actually there is a considerable impact of language counseling techniques described by Kelly (1996), Stickler (2001) and Mynard (2012) both in autonomy and in student’s motivation process toward to the development their his writing skills for academic purposes.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aspectos semânticos, morfológicos e morfossintáticos das palavras descritivas Apurinã(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2007-03-16) CHAGAS, Angela Fabíola Alves; FACUNDES, Sidney da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9502308340482231; FERREIRA, Marília de Nazaré de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4291543797221091It presents semantic, morphossyntactic and morphological aspects of the descriptive words of the Apurinã language (Aruákan), that is, words that commonly are translated as adjectives in the European languages. Some of those words receive the mark of pronominal subject (e.g. u-natxitapeka 'she is hungry'); while others receive the objective mark (e.g. ere-ru 'she is beautiful'); and other ones can receive either subjective and objective markers (e.g. ny-pĩkareta eu estou com medo vs. papĩkare-nu eu sou medroso). The first think treated was about the place of the descriptive words in the Apurinã parts of the speech (are they names, are they verbs or do they form an independent class from these?). Using internal evidences of the language, initially we have established a grammatical classification for those words starting from their morphological properties in comparison with the names and verbs in the language, with the purpose of answer these questions. The second think is on the semantic correlates of the descriptive words. Considering the intern division of the Apurinã descriptive words (subjective vs. lenses), we presented the semantic properties associated to each group and, starting from that, we presented an attempt of motivating the sub grouping of descriptive concepts in the language with base in the aspectual notions of transitoriness and permanence. Finally, the described grammatical phenomenon is contextualized inside of the typology of systems of split intransitivity described for other languages (PAYNE: 1997), and the description of their semantic properties is located in relation to the typology of lexical aspects or aktionsarten (COMRIE: 1976, FRAWLEY: 1992).Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Caracterização acústica das vogais médias pretônicas /e/ e /o/ do português falado na Cidade de Cametá/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-02-19) SOUSA, Josivane do Carmo Campos; CRUZ, Regina Célia Fernandes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3307472469778577The present Doctoral Thesis in Linguistics aims to provide an acoustic description of the middle pretonic vowels / e / and / o / in Portuguese spoken in the urban area of the City of Cametá/PA. As specific objectives, we sought to: a) verify the possible influences of social factors such as gender, age group and education on the variation of the pretonic mean vowels; b) to verify if the phenomenon of vowel harmony favors the process of variation of the target vowels in the variety of Cametá/PA; c) provide the acoustic space of the target vowels under analysis, according to the parameters of F1 (tongue height), F2 (anteriority/posteriority); d) to investigate the role of F0 (fundamental frequency), F3 (roundness of the lips) and Duration in the acoustic characterization of the pretonic middle vowels in the studied variety. For that, the methodological procedures adopted were those established by Cruz (2011) in the acoustic characterization of the pretonic vowel system of Portuguese spoken in the Paraense Amazon: a) standardized corpus - with 45 words selected based on the context of high variability in previous sociolinguistic studies; b) sample stratified socially in sex, age group and education; c) data collection using the text reading protocol aloud (Y); d) segmentation of data in Praat; e) application of the Praat Analyzer Tier script to obtain the acoustic measurements taken from the central part of the target vowels; f) organization of the values of the physical parameters in Excel; g) statistical treatment by means of the R program. The results presented are the treatment of the 789 data from the data collection protocol through the reading of text (Y), contemplating the 18 (eighteen) sound signals referring to the sample. The sociolinguistic analysis showed the predominance of the medium variants, both of the anterior (75%) and the posterior (60%). Then, the low variants: 15% for the former, and 27% for the latter; and finally, the high variants: 10% of the former, and 13% of the latter. As for the social factors analyzed, schooling proved to be the most interfering factor in the variation of the vowels under study, as it was found that the higher the level of education, the greater the likelihood of performing the medium variants, and the lower the probability of high variants, confirming, therefore, that the schooling process in the municipality of Cametá tends to erase dialect marks. The acoustic analysis, in turn, from the joint analysis of F1 and F2, confirms that it is the most compact pretense vocalic system in Cametá and with a greater tendency towards centralization, as attested by Lages (2017) and Verçosa (2018). Vowel harmony was confirmed by tests of significance as a phonological process favoring vowel variation. With regard to F0 and F3, these are confirmed as parameters of identity between the variants, precisely because they present very close frequencies, thus allowing the realization of the same phoneme at the underlying level to be considered. The duration, in turn, was considered more than a distinctive parameter of vowels, since it can also be taken as an identity parameter between the variants of the vowels in a pretonic context.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Dalcídio Jurandir: um cronista de O Estado do Pará e de Diretrizes(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-06-02) BARBOSA, Tayana Andreza de Sousa; FURTADO, Marli Tereza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2382303554607592The writer Dalcídio Jurandir (1909-1979) had a long and useful literary production, which resulted in ten novels with Amazon setting and Linha do Parque of Communist orientation. However, his contact with the universe literate is not restricted to his fictional creation, the writer held intense activity in the press in general and the Communist press in particular. This last, due to his involvement with the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB), which was substantial for the grounds of thought "dalcidiano", both as regards the way to see the reality and its operation, as when targeting their artistic creation. Two important journals for which Dalcídio collaborated in the cities in which he resided were the O Estado do Pará and Diretrizes, both of leftist policy orientations although not organically connected to the PCB. These two journals, it is possible to terms with another face of the novelist, who in addition to writing his novels, he ventured down the path of Chronicles. Thus, aim, with this work, do a study of these chronicles, in two newspapers, spanning the years from 1937 to 1944, in order to publicize these texts from writer marajoara and understand how he behaved in the creation of another literary genre.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Expressividade oral e fluência em leitura: monitoramento e diagnóstico de cinco escolas estaduais de Belém do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-05-08) SAUAIA VANSILER, Nair Daiane de Souza; PICANÇO, Gessiane Lobato; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8504849027565119The expressive reading is a way of showing the meanings of the text apprehended by the reader. Therefore, the expression in oral reading can not only distinguish good from poor readers, but also be used to monitor comprehension. It is possible to verify, based on prosodic elements, the way the students apply their linguistic knowledge on their reading. Fluent readers incorporate prosodic features of the spoken language (such as accent, pitch range of voice, intonation, phrasing and pauses) during reading, making it sound as natural as possible. This project takes the concepts of the interactive-compensatory model because we accept that the automatic decoding process allows the acceleration of the word identification process in texts. This research shows the evaluation of the three prosodic dimensions - intonation and stress; phrasing and rhythm - in readings done by high school sophomores (2nd year students) from five different public schools in Belém, Pará. The research is divided into two stages, in each one the students have read, for one minute, excerpts from three different texts. In the first stage, 54 students from the five selected public schools have been analyzed, summing an amount of 162 oral reading samples. In the second one, done in the ending of the 2013 school year, the readings of three out of four texts, in the second visit in four schools out of the five initial ones, by 44 students were analyzed. During this second stage, students of two selected schools have read one more text with better prosodic signs; 20 students participated. The CBM (DENO, 1985) offered an efficient method of student reading captivation. The quantitative analysis of the reading samples was done based on the oral expressivity parameters of a multidimensional scale, adapted to this research from the Fountas and Pinnel (2006), Raisinski (2004) and Zuttell & Rasinski (1991) propositions. We believe that readers who present some difficulty on expressive oral reading may lack of supporting elements to the reading comprehension skills proposed by Wren (2002), as well as related to some parsing deficit. The disability on automatically recognizing words may also be one these deficiencies. In the end, we have presented some proposals of guided intervention to obtain more satisfying performances on expressive oral reading.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O grande movimento é a volta: viagem e espaço em “O Recado do Morro”(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-02-29) ROCHA, Wellington Diogo Leite; HOLANDA, Sílvio Augusto de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0928175455054278Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A heterogeneidade linguístico-cultural em foco no ensino-aprendizagem da produção oral em português língua estrangeira(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-05-25) SANTOS, Edirnelis Moraes dos; CUNHA, José Carlos Chaves da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3117544056791050Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O interlúdio de Eros e Thánatos na poesia de Max Martins(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-02-17) RIBEIRO, Natália Lima; FERRAZ, Antônio Máximo von Sohsten Gomes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5982898787473373This study aims to find which way Eros and Thánatos appear in the poetic work of Max Martins, on the assumption that these ontological experiences articulate in interlude (a game in between). Thus, this search intend to embraces new ways of thinking Love and Death out of a metaphysical tradition, or out of the paradigms which form used to these phenomenons that exceed the man in the work of the martiniana poetry. In the work of Max Martins, we can see a break with the metaphysical constructions that happen in modernity, given that his poetry is permeated by the constant question, from a thought about the events surrounding the existence. For the poet, the man is that one who takes care of things, makes his existential trajectory by questioning, experiencing Love and Death originating, not categorizes them into segments. In other words, in the work of Max Martins human being travels the existence in the ontological game Eros and Thánatos. In his works, both phenomenons appear in different forms and ways, as Max Martins is not related to an expression, but his experiences in poetic language of Eros and Thánatos all over nearly fifty years of poetry. In this sense, through a hermeneutic approach, the proposal presented here raises the development of an interpretive route around the poetics of Max Martins in the works include the collection Poemas Reunidos 1952 - 2001 and Para ter onde ir, with authors dialogue as Martin Heidegger, Octavio Paz, Manuel Antônio Castro, George Bataille and Plato, in order to foster discussion about the relationship between Love and Death diverges opposition usually employed in our time, but there is a match between these two instances that guiding life.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Laços luso-paraense na imprensa oitocentista(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-05-31) TAVARES, Maria Lucilena Gonzaga Costa; BARBOSA, Socorro de Fátima Pacífico; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1775931802554481; SALES, Germana Maria Araújo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8723885160615840Almost two centuries of the independence of Brazil, some ties still linger in Pará, beyond the language and the political and cultural history left by the Portuguese colonizers. Thus, it was up to the newspaper to archive part of this important story that, in some Brazilian provinces, also witnessed harsh prospects of what intended Brazilians, as happened in Grand Pará Province, whose peculiarity focuses even before his "adherence" to independence in 1823. Therefore, we investigated some newspapers of Pará from the nineteenth century, in particular, those of the 1840s - respectively the end of Cabanagem - the 1880, the decline of Romanticism, in order to show from the perspective of literary history, such as the Grand Province - witnessed in adverse direction of the other, the lusophilia and permanence of Portuguese culture. We propose as the source the journals from Pará cataloged in the microfilm sector from Arthur Viana library, located in the Cultural Foundation of Pará, in which we find record keeping existing literary ties between Brazil and Portugal in the nineteenth century. This research will serve as a bibliographic source to those interested in historical and cultural relationship between Pará and Portugal, given that mosto of the newspapers investigated is located solely in the said Para state library, which certainly favors the little publicity about this historiographical content, besides placing Pará among the important Brazilian provinces of the nineteenth century.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Literatura de cordel: entre versos e rimas sotádicos e sacânicos(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010-03-16) CARVALHO, Ana Maria de; FERNANDES, José Guilherme dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7023812449790431In general, the thematic classifications of Cordel attend educational purposes, arranged in groups which can be thematic or structure based. During the research I found thematic classifications about: religion, banditry, love etc. In the work of Alves Sobrinho (2003), among the issues cited by him, I highlight the issue of depravity, defined as that which is obscene and immoral. That same theme is called sotadic by Salles (2003), that is, productions whose contents do not follow the rules of morals and morality. This type of Cordel reached its culmination in the 50s, in the Northeast of Brazil. Currently, in the state of Para, one of its representatives is the poet Antonio Juraci Siqueira. This study aims to analyze this type of Cordel and read them as a cultural text, which is able to say something more than dirtiness. Thus, it is important to mention the relationship between laughter and sexuality which arises from the sotadic theme. The discussion will present the theoretical assumptions based on Bergson (2007), Foucault (1977), Propp (1992), Idelette Muzart-Fonseca dos Santos (2006).Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Lutar com o verbo nunca foi apenas lamento: a poesia elegíaca de Paulo Plínio Abreu(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2022-02-25) VANSILER, João Jairo Moraes; CARDOZO, Mauricio Mendonça; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6080426102326479; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9270-6892; LEAL, Izabela Guimarães Guerra; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2507019514021007This thesis examines the work of Paulo Plínio Abreu (1921-1959), a poet from Pará, Brazil, developed in the 1940s and 1950s, when he published poems and translations in local journals like Terra Imatura, Novidade, Encontro, and Norte, and the newspapers O Estado do Pará and Folha do Norte. By the initiative of Francisco Paulo Mendes (1910-1999), this literary production took the form of a book, edited and published in 1978, nearly 20 years after the poet's early death. The editor named the book Poesia (1978/2008). It entails the poetic material published in the press, including poems and portions of poems, but also the unpublished translation of one of the main German poetic productions of the 20th century: The Duino Elegies, by Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926). This thesis reviews traces of such literary production to highlight factors of fragmentation and incompleteness of a literary project left open due to the poet's unexpected death. The editorial decisions towards the book were imperative to avoid the work falling into oblivion. In addition, editorial investments positively impacted the literalness of the production. This issue of sedimentation when collecting the production in the form of a book prompted the inevitable questioning regarding commonplaces of a literary work, such as the author, the work itself, and the reader. Such questioning is conceivable for the condition of possibility founded in the theoretical-methodological bibliography, that includes (ANTELO, 2016), (ISER, 1996), (ECO, 1991), (FOUCAULT, 2001), (CHARTIER, 1999), (BARTHES, 2004), (GENETTE, 2009), and foremost (BENJAMIN, 2018). These authors provided the framework of the thesis’ argument and therefore guided its analysis, which is organized into five main sections. The thesis discusses the itinerary taken by the poems and translations, underlining the Zeitgeist that imprinted a ‘melancholic’ identity into the production. It facilitates the understanding of Poesia as a forged object read by the following generations. Therefore, this thesis is one more instrument to elucidate the work of Paulo Plínio Abreu.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Marques de Carvalho na imprensa periódica belenenses oitocentistas (1800-1900)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-02-13) SILVA, Alan Victor Flor da; SALES, Germana Maria Araújo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8723885160615840The writer, politician, journalist and diplomat João Marques de Carvalho was born in Belém, capital of Pará state, on November 6, 1866, and died in Nice, southern France, on April 11, 1910, with 43 years. Besides his prose fiction was published in book form, some of his texts between short stories, novels, legends and critical essays, are spread on pages of certain periodic sheets that circulated by Belém the last two decades of the nineteenth century (1880-1900), as Diário de Belém (Belém’s Daily), A Província do Pará (The Province of Pará), A República (The Republic) and A Arena (The Arena). Therefore, considering the universe of his writings published in local newspapers, the objective is, with this work, to evaluate not only as Marques de Carvalho understood the naturalist doctrine, the function of criticism and literary production in the state of Pará, as well as analyze the representation of the Lusitanian and Amazonian fictional space in his stories and novels published in Belém’s periodical press of the nineteenth-century.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) As mil e uma transfigurações de rocambole: a personagem mais brilhante de Ponson du Terrail(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-04-29) BORGES, Débora de Castro; AUGUSTI, Valéria; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6970953321235328Ponson du Terrail was considered one of the leading French popular novelists the second half of the nineteenth century. Having circulated widely in serials and in book form his country of origin, he had his novels translated into Portuguese language and, that century, published by numerous Portuguese publishers. Part of Portuguese editions of his novels have been sent to Belém of Pará and became part of the Grêmio Literário Português of Para collection, reading room established in the capital of the province in 1867. Whereas one of the main author of blockbusters was Rocambole series, which are narrated the adventures of the eponymous character in 12 novels, this work aimed to describe the bibliographic point of view, the issues of this series contained in the collection of this institution to date. Therefore, we collected the editorial data of the copies of paraense reading room, which were compared with specimens of French editions available at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, so check the different editorial arrangements of the series, with regard to the organization the parts that compose it. Done this was undertaken the synthesis of the plot of the novels that compose the series as a whole, as well as the analysis of the narrative focused on the physical and psychological transformations of character, emphasizing the importance of disguise and recognition for the plot economy.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Movimento Xingu vivo para sempre: da fundação à consolidação do discurso de recusa radical ao complexo hidrelétrico de Belo Monte(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-03-27) GALVÃO, Alessandro Nobre; PESSOA, Fátima Cristina da Costa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4011084861970140This work examines the socio-historical conjuncture that led to the emergence and consolidation of a new discourse in the order of discourses on the management of natural resources in the Brazilian Amazon - the discourse of radical refusal to the Belo Monte Hydroelectric Complex (CHBM). This situation dates to a conflict started in the late 1970s when the Brazilian government proposes an inventory of the Xingu basin to assess its hydroelectric potential, reaching the 2000s with changes in the country's economic policy based on the strengthening of the neoliberal model and the opening of the Brazilian government to private companies for the exploitation of natural resources. We identified the birth of the resistance of indigenous groups with emphasis on the Kayapó people, later strengthened with the alliance sealed between this and other segments impacted by the Belo Monte project, on the occasion of the Xingu Vivo para Sempre Encounter held in 2008. We analyze, therefore, the historical facts that culminated in the emergence and circulation of this discourse, as well as its ideological foundation, the possible transformations it suffered over time and the discursive processes that derive from it. We made a descriptive dive in the indigenous social formation, seeking to compare it to the capitalist social formation, which allowed us to envisage, based on the Peucheutian studies, that the resistance we investigate is born in a non-place under the aegis of other rituals of interpellation, introducing itself within the practices and possible rituals in the capitalist social formation. Our analytical course showed us that discourse of radical rejection to the CHBM undergoes transformations from the advent of that imaginary alliance that, from a discursive point of view, sealed an alliance not between empirical subjects, but between different positions of subject and allowed the invasion of other knowledge into the FD that determines this discourse. The discursive corpus of this research is constituted by discursive materialities of differentiated semiotic nature and we adopt as a procedure of construction of this corpus the notion of cut proposed by Orlandi (1984), as well as the discursive sequence proposed by Courtine (2014) and the procedures of the analysis followed the triangular approach proposed by Lagazzi (2005).Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Movimentos oculares e prosódia de leitura oral: análise dos marcadores prosódicos gráficos na leitura de alunos do 5 º ano do Ensino Fundamental(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-02-25) VANSILER, Nair Daiane de Souza Sauaia; KLEIN, Angela Inês; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8845056127169633; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6230-7938; CRUZ, Regina Célia Fernandes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3307472469778577The present Doctoral Thesis investigates the processing of Prosodic Graphic Markers - MPGs (PACHECO, 2003) in read-aloud. It aims to examine the processing of oral reading in Brazilian Portuguese (BP) taking into account the MPGs: Comma (VG), Period (PT) and Colon (DP) according to the BP intonational system defined by Cagliari (1981), which presents tonal patterns delimited by a Tonal Group (GT) consisting of a Salient Tonic Syllable (TT), Tonic Component (CT) and Pretonic Component (CPT). The methodology used combines acoustic and cognitive analysis. For the acoustic analysis, we recorded the oral production during reading of 58 5th grade students from the municipal school in Ponta Grossa (PR), all with ages between 9 and 12 years old, classified around the Reading Fluency variable, with a total of 29 students in the Fluent Group (FL) and 32 in the Low Fluency Group (FP). In all, 928 data were analyzed (58 students x 16 target sentences). Variables were controlled for taking the measures of intonational contours: Intensity (in dB) and Fundamental Frequency (f0) (in Hz) of CPT and CT, Duration (in ms) of TT and Pause (in ms). For the cognitive analysis, we employed the Eye Tracker Technique to take measurements of the eye movements of the 58 participants. The eye variables controlled were: Total Reading Time (TTL), Number of Fixations (NF), Number of Saccades (NS), and Mean Fixation Time (MTF). For the relationship between ocular and acoustic data, we applied tests combining the statistical variables and the stimuli: Test 1 (the number of fixations and duration of the internal pause), Test 2 (the number of revisits and duration of the internal pause), Test 3 (the number of fixations and duration of the final pause), and Test 4 (the number of revisits and duration of the final pause). The data was composed of three stimuli, corresponding to the reading of three different types of texts: Text 1, complex with the markers DP (2 target sentences), VG (3 target sentences) and PT (3 target sentences), Text 2, simple with the markers VG (3 target sentences) and PT (1 target sentence) and Text 3, simple without punctuation, containing 4 target sentences: i) 3 target sentences with VG value and ii) 1 target sentence with PT value. Data processing comprised the following steps: i) eye data extraction in BeGaze software; ii) segmentation of audio signals in Praat software; iii) extraction of the means of the physical parameters of the segments; iv) tabulation of the acoustic and eye relationship data; v) application of quantitative tests. In the prosodic analysis, the participants present in all the markers evaluated, inconsistency regarding the reduction or maintenance of CT and CPT in f0 and Intensity and no elongation of TT. The comparison of the averages of the eye variables between the FP and FL groups proves that the more complex the text, the greater the difference between the fluency groups. The results of the correlation analysis indicate that there is a significant correlation between the variables internal pause and fixations in test 1 (in texts 1 and 2) and internal pause and revisits in test 2 (in texts 2 and 3), which characterizes difficulty in reading processing due to internal pauses, revisits and fixations within the sentence; and between the variables End Pause and Fixations in test 3 (in text 1) and end pause and revisits in test 4 (in text 2), which means that when the duration of the amount of fixations and revisits increases, there is an increase in the duration of the end pause, which may prove the dwell-time effect (HIROTANI; FRAZIER; RAYNER, 2006; RAYNER, 1998), in which readers remain at the end of a clause until the resolution of the present clause. Overall, the data showed that there is a strong correlation between fixation, revisit, and pause duration in the processing of punctuation marks during spoken reading.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Perfil comparativo-tipológico das consoantes nasais em línguas da família Tupí-Guaraní(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-01-28) BARAÚNA, Fabíola Azevedo; PICANÇO, Gessiane Lobato; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8504849027565119This work aims to produce a comparative-typological profile of the phonetic variants of the nasal consonants in languages of the Tupí-Guaraní family. For the selection of the analyzed languages, it was decided to include different branches of the Tupí-Guaraní family, acording to the internal classification suggested by Rodrigues and Cabral (2002), in order to increase the comprehensiveness of typological studies regarding the Tupi languages. The Parakanã and Tembé (Branch IV), Wayampi (Branch VIII), Asuriní of Xingu, the Anambé and Araweté (Branch V) languages were chosen, all of which have original audio recordings obtained from native speakers; for the phonological aspects, the study was based on the proposals already available for these languages. The research consists of a phonetic-acoustic analysis of the nasal consonants of these Tupí languages, making typological generalizations about how these consonants are manifested. The results are discussed with the framework of articulatory phonology (BROWMAN AND GOLDSTEIN, 1989) who defend the idea that lexicals units can be described in terms of articulatory gestures coordinated both in space and in time, represented by what the authors call gestural score. Furthermore, this work includes a comparison of nasals in the selected Tupí languages, highlighting existing trends and patterns based on the description of the phonetic implementations of nasals in the selected languages. It was found that when there is partial oralization in the nasal consonants, the Tupí-Guaraní languages of branch IV have a tendency to introduce pre-oralization, while the languages of branch V tend to have post-oralization. This result shows up as an argument for division of the branches of the Tupi-Guarani family, proposed by Rodrigues (1986) and revised by Rodrigues and Cabral (2002).Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A precisão na fluência em leitura oral: avaliando a leitura de alunos do 6º ano do Ensino Fundamental(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-03-09) MOUTINHO, Michell Gadelha; PICANÇO, Gessiane Lobato; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8504849027565119This study aims at examining students’ performance levels in oral reading accuracy. 46 sixthgraders from four schools – two public and two private –participated voluntarily in the study, which took place in Belém – Pará. The work intends to contribute to discussions about reading assessment, since Pará students’ performance in national and international exams, such as Prova Brasil, Enem and PISA, has been below the expectations. In order to achieve this goal, we followed the Curriculum-based measurement method, proposed by Deno (1985), which considers one-minute of oral reading to be enough to analyze and determine the students’ major difficulties in a more specific way, in this case, accuracy in word decoding. Oral reading samples were collected in two visits, which took place in the beginning and the end of 2015 school year. The analysis was based on the levels of performance for word decoding accuracy (RASINSKI, 2004), accuracy rate and self-correction rate. The results show a difference between students’ performance from public and private schools, in that the latter reached better levels than the former. Moreover, we also analyze the types of errors that students mostly make in reading aloud, which were substitutions (usually driven by lexemic similarity, graphic similarity, pluralization/singularization and influence of the context) and pronunciation (especially driven by lack of knowledge about phoneme-grapheme relations, deletion of word sounds and misplacement of stress position). These errors exhibited different manifestations and were the ones with a major impact on reading comprehension. We conclude that the difficulty in word decoding is more frequent in public schools, thus, if nothing is done to solve these problems, these students will continue to recede in their reading skills.
