Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise comparativa das propriedades ressonantes de nanopartículas e de nanoantenas bowtie de ouro de diferentes geometrias(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-12-14) SANTOS, Thaís Lira Tavares dos; COSTA, Karlo Queiroz da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7932708321834647; DMITRIEV, Victor Alexandrovich; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3139536479960191This work presents a comparative analysis of the resonant properties of gold nanoparticles and gold bowtie nanoantennas with new triangular geometries. The proposed geometries are as follows: the curved side triangular ones and the triangular geometries with one corner formed by three tips. The investigated properties are the resonant responses, the spatial distributions of the electric near-field and the resonant wavelengths. The current density inside the nanostructures is also analysed for better understanding of the electric near-field enhancement. For the case of bowtie nanoantennas, the research is also focused on the study of the influence of a silicon dioxide substrate on their resonant properties and on the study of their characteristics in the far-field region (scattering cross section and radiation pattern). The numerical results are obtained in the visible and near infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, simulated by the finite integration technique. For isolated nanoparticles, these results show that the suggested geometries have electric near-field intensity around 160% higher and resonant wavelength redshifted by 15%, as compared to the equilateral triangular geometry. In the case of bowtie nanoantennas, the new geometries have electric near-field intensity 90% higher and resonant wavelength blueshifted by 15%, as compared to the triangular equilateral bowtie nanoantenna. The results of this work can serve for modeling, fabrication and designing of gold nanoparticles and gold bowtie nanoantennas for different applications, for example, microscopy and optical fibre sensors.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise de estruturas planares em THz baseadas em grafeno(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-01-28) NASCIMENTO, Clerisson Monte do; DMITRIEV, Victor Alexandrovich; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0684541646225359In this work we analyse the properties of scattering of electromagnetic waves in graphene surfaces and the planar plasmonic based devices made of the same material, both in THz frequency region. The work is presented in form of four scientific papers. In the first one a numerical analysis of the plasmonic waves propagation in graphene elements is performed. The influence of geometrical configuration, chemical potential variation, angle of incidence and polarizations is analysed. That results give us the information to project two devices (the second and third) based on frequency selective surfaces (FSS) on THz range and that are composed only by graphene elements and dielectric substrates without the insertions of different metals. The first device consists in a THz electromagnetic filter made by an planar array of graphene ring-shaped elements placed in both sides of a dielectric substrate. The second device presents new multifunctional graphene device that can operate either as an electromagnetic, dynamically controlled, filter or as an eletromagnectic switch. Both devices operates based on Fano resonance effect. The fourth paper presents a new method of analysis of periodic planar structure, based on group theory approach. This method takes account the transversal and longitudinal components of induced current in the structure. By using this, one can obtain more information about the device properties than by using exitenting methods, which uses only longitudinal components of the induced currents. As application, we suggest an analyse a periodic array of graphene elements.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise e modelagem em larga escala para as frequências 8, 9, 10 e 11 ghz em ambientes indoor(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-12-06) BATALHA, Iury da Silva; BARROS, Fabrício José Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9758585938727609; CAVALCANTE, Gervásio Protásio dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2265948982068382Within the context of studies related to radiopropagation, this work presents a proposal for large-scale modeling of propagation loss for 8, 9, 10 and 11 GHz bands in relation to the number of walls, distance and polarization. Measurement campaigns were conducted in the Annex II corridor and in a teaching laboratory located at the Federal University of Pará. The measurement campaign was performed using VV and HH co-polarized directional horn antennas and VH cross polarization nantennas in Line of Sight (LoS) and Line of Sight (NLoS) conditions, the transmitter was fixed within the environment with 0 dBm transmission with VV and HH antenna array and 15 dBm for VH. Directional antennas for transmitter and receiver with 29.3∘ elevation and 29∘ azimuth were used for frequencies 8, 9, 10 and 11 GHz. The Minium Mean Square Error (MMSE) technique was applied to determine the values of the equation parameters as: PLE , XPD, HHPD, and OPLE. The proposed propagation loss model presented satisfactory results compared to the measured data presenting a low standard deviation. A point-to-point standard deviation analysis is also presented within the two environments for the studied frequencies. For the corridor the standard deviation values using polarized V-V antennas were 7, 7.5, 5.6 and 5 dB, and for cross-polarized V-H antennas were 5, 6.2, 2.3 and 3.5 dB for studies frequencies. For the laboratory the values of standard deviation for polarized V-V antennas were 7, 7, 6.5 and 7.3 dB and for polarized H-H antennas were 9.3, 6.1, 6.1 and 6 dB. The polarization loss factor (XPD) presented in the extension of the CIX model for the corridor present values of 19.3, 28.7, 21.3 and 14.3 for the frequencies of 8, 9, 10 and 11 GHz, respectively.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise e otimização de coberturas de invisibilidade esféricas estratificadas em camadas homogêneas e isotrópicas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-06-29) MARTINS, Tiago Carvalho; DMITRIEV, Victor Alexandrovich; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3139536479960191In this work, we analyze and optimize invisibility cloaks stratified in concentric spherical homogeneous and isotropic layers, in which both the total scattering cross section and the number of layers have been minimized. In order to increase the range of frequencies in which there is invisibility, dispersive effects are taken into account. In microwaves, We obtained discretized invisibility cloaks (obtained from anisotropic cloaks) with significant reductions (greater than 20 dB) of the total scattering cross section, for only 20 layers (which is achieved in the literature with at least 80 layers). We obtained a reduction of 32 dB in the total scattering cross section for a cloak stratified in only 13 layers. This result was obtained in microwaves. In microwaves, we optimized dispersive invisibility cloaks which present a bandwidth 5.4 times larger than would be obtained by a optimized cloak without dispersive effects. Cloaks are designed to operate in optical frequencies, for a wide range of frequencies.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Análise multifísica e experimentos em sensores ópticos usados na medição de temperatura em rotores de hidrogeradores(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-04-12) LEITE, Reinaldo Corrêa; DMITRIEV, Victor Alexandrovich; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0684541646225359Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) offer new possibilities to monitor accurately the rotor temperature. Dozens of sensors can be mounted in series in a single fiber and used to measure the temperature in several points of the rotor winding. Such sensors installed directly on the rotor winding surface are thermally isolated from the cooling air by a silicone layer. Because of the temperature gradient in this structure, the sensor is exposed to thermo-mechanical stresses and therefore can be deformed. Since the FBG probes are sensitive to both temperature and strain, the knowledge of each effect separately is necessary to ensure that the temperature readings are not affected by strain. Experimental results obtained in rotor winding mockup tests with thermistors and FBG sensors show that the temperature readings by the FBG are 4.5°C above the temperature defined by the thermistors which were used as references. Multi-physics simulations were carried out to calculate the strain and temperature in the FBG assembly. The theoretical and experimental results are in a good agreement and show that the temperature gradient across the FBG sensor assembly is sufficient to cause a strain that induces an axial stress in the FBG sensor causing an error in the temperature reading. The performance evaluation of networks is a way to identify and analyze how certain features, such as different traffic types or forms of use, can influence the behavior of the network in focus. This way, we can predict how the network will behave in future situations. The methodology is composed of two approaches: an approach based on measurements and the other based on modeling using Markov processes. The networks analyzed cover the two basic types of access architecture: ADSL2+ (asymmetric digital subscriber line 2+) networks, which are wired networks that use twisted pair cables; FBWN (fixed broadband wireless network) networks, which are wireless networks based on IEEE 802.16 standard. The measurement approach is focused on network behaves against three situations: transmission of a generic traffic, impact of non-stationary noise in the system, and using network for the transmission of real-time multimedia traffic. The modeling approach, in its turn, is based on predicting the behavior of the network using mathematical models based on Markov processes. The results presented indicate the feasibility of applying this methodology as form of performance evaluation. The results also make possible the extension of this methodology to other types of broadband access networks such as fiber optic networks, microwave links, and VDSL/VDSL2 (Very-high-data-rate DSL) networks.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação da segurança de sistemas de potência para múltiplas contingências usando árvore de decisão multicaminhos(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-09-15) OLIVEIRA, Werbeston Douglas de; BEZERRA, Ubiratan Holanda; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6542769654042813; VIEIRA, João Paulo Abreu; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8188999223769913The search for effective ways to promote the secure operation of power systems and to increase its understanding by operators has encouraged continuous research for new techniques and methods that can help in this task. In this paper, it is proposed an approach to assess power system operation security for multiple contingencies using a multiway decision tree (MDT). The MDT differs from other decision tree techniques for establishing, in the training step, one value of the categorical attributes by branch. This approach proposes the use of topologies (contingencies) as categorical attributes. In this way, it improves interpretability regarding the power system operational state, as the operator can see clearly the critical variables for each topology, such that the MDT rules can be used in aiding the decision-making. This proposal was used for security assessment of two test systems, the IEEE 39-bus system and the Northern part of the Brazilian Interconnected Power System (BIPS), and BIPS was tested with real data from one day operation. The proposed MDT-based technique demonstrated superior performance, with a set of simple and clear rules. It was also performed a comparison of the obtained results with other techniques based on DT and it turned out that MDT has resulted in a simpler procedure for power system security classification with good accuracy.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação de técnica semi-supervisionada de análise de vetor comprimido (C2VA) em imagens de satélites para detecção de mudanças de uso e cobertura da terra(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-12-15) SIRAVENHA, Ana Carolina Quintão; PELAES, Evaldo Gonçalves; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0255430734381362Remote sensing image databases and Geographical Information System have the potential to act as accurate tools for environmental monitoring. Carajas Mountains are an important mineral deposit in Brazil and as environmental laws protect a great portion of this region, they have been at the core of conflicts involving human and nature interests. The biggest mining project in Brazil is active in this region (Carajas project) and this analysis aims at identifying the environmental impact caused directly or indirectly by this activity using state of the art methods. This study collects information of land-use and land-coverage from an area larger than 111, 000 km2 including five municipalities, aiming at observing the landscape intervention from a big scale perspective. Therefore, employing the resultant products of the multi-spectral approach called compressed change vector analysis, this work analyses both the environmental changes in five municipalities of the Carajas Mountains: Parauapebas, Canaa dos Carajas, Ourilandia do Norte, Sao Felix do Xingu and Tucuma. From the point of view of the applicability of the proposed tools, it was noticed that the combination of the compressed change vector analysis with the fuzzy clustering is sufficiently efficient for the detection and analysis of changes in land use and land coverage. The quantitative and qualitative evaluation metrics show good accuracy compared to the manually obtained reference images. The results show that in general the vegetative coverage was replaced by pasture lands, which in turn were replaced by urban occupations. The comparison with official statistics and by visual inspection indicate good accuracy of the present study in the estimation of vegetative cover. The presence of environmentally protected areas has prevented the increase of deforestation in the mountains, in which the observed change rates were at least 15% lower than non-protected regions.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação do impacto da produção eólica na reserva operativa de curto e longo prazo utilizando séries temporais(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-05-30) SANTOS, Fernando Manuel Carvalho da Silva; BEZERRA, Ubiratan Holanda; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6542769654042813; BRANCO, Tadeu da Mata Medeiros; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8911039344594817One of the main concerns of a system planner is to size generation equipment, mainly for meeting the load growth and to achieve certain spinning reserve requirements. In general, generation systems must be sized with sufficient capacity, flexibility and robustness to respond to several operational challenges. However, the volatility and variability that comes from renewable generation is a relatively recent concern for the system planners. This thesis evaluates the potential of diverse wind power patterns to balance the global power output of wind farms using the concept of operating reserve assessment. To achieve this, operating reserve assessment models are utilized to evaluate bulk generation systems under several conditions of wind power geographic distribution. Different wind behavior patterns and wind power penetration levels are tested using a modified configuration of the IEEE RTS-96 and a planning configuration of the Portuguese Generation System. The results highlight that on a large country scale system with different wind characteristics, the diversification of wind behavior might be conducive to a compensation of wind power fluctuations, which may significantly decrease the need for system operating reserves. This effect is verified using probability distribution functions of reserve needs estimated by sequential Monte Carlo simulations (SMCS), such that useful information regarding generation capacity flexibility is drawn from the evaluations.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Caracterização e desenvolvimento de sensores ópticos de corrente elétrica para aplicações em linhas de alta tensão(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-04-03) SANTA BRÍGIDA, Angela Costa; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434This thesis, titled "Characterization and development of electric sensors for electrical applications in high voltage lines" was developed in a PhD program in Electrical Engineering. Fix the devices and characterized the magneto-optical current sensors for measurement applications and protection in high power systems, namely, prism sensor and photonic glass fiber (PCF) sensor. Both are based on the Faraday effect, using a double quadrature polarimetric configuration. This work was then divided in two moments. In the first, a prism sensor, consisting of a portable sensor head for anchoring in the transmission line was developed, in Portugal, for an industrial application. In this case, no prism sensor prototype was used in a Schott SF57 glass prism 8cm in length with high Verdet constant and low birefringence. It has been incorporated into a Nylon casing suitable for fastening applications in the power line. The operation of the sensor is characterized and compared using Super Luminescent Diodes (SLD) as a source of 650, 830 and 1550 nm. Class 1 precision sensor for nominal currents of 900 ARMS or higher and classes 0,1 and 0,2 for nominal currents of 1,2 kARMS and 0,3 kARMS, respectively, and the possibility of detecting impulses in the network of 10 Μs. Second, another type of wrapping, the use of optical fibers as a transition element, using highly rotated fibers at 4, 6, 9, and 11 revolutions per second, developed by the group of the Laboratory of Special Fibers and Photonic Materials - LaFE, from the Institute of Physics Gleb Wataghin of UNICAMP, Brazil. In particular, these lines were tested as a whole on an electric conductor using three winding sizes of 6, 12 and 18 cm in diameters with different turns, with currents of up to 800 ARMS using an SLD source at 650 nm. Parameters, such as sensitivity and linearity of the sensor, were investigated. A symbolic analysis was also performed to quantitatively analyze the fiber sensitivity value with respect to the number of turns and with respect to the diameter of the support, there is no conclusion that there is a compromise between these two parameters in order to obtain a better response in the signal of sensor output.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Classificação automática de modulação baseada em aprendizagem discriminativa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-06-19) CARVALHO JUNIOR, Claudomir Cardoso de; KLAUTAU JÚNIOR, Aldebaro Barreto da Rocha; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1596629769697284The main purpose of the algorithms for automatic modulation classification in an in- telligent receiver for cognitive radio or military applications is to identify the modulation of a signal so that the receiver can subsequently carry out the process of demodulation and then processing the received information. The lack of knowledge of parameters such as, for exam- ple, signal power, frequency and phase of carrier and timing; added to the channel effects such as multipath fading, make the automatic modulation classification problem challenger and fairly investigated currently. In this context, this thesis presents an investigation of automatic modulation classification algorithms based on discriminative learning and evaluates their per- formance in different usage scenarios. The thesis presents a new classification proposal based on front end called HISTO. Classification is performed on the received symbols, where the magnitude and phase histogram’s are computed. The results obtained using the proposed front end and the Support Vector Machine algorithm (SVM) are compared with other tech- niques. In the literature, some of the proposed algorithms are evaluated assuming knowledge of some modulation parameters and using different scenarios, which makes difficult to compare the algorithms. In this thesis, algorithms representative of the prior art are compared with the proposed ones in a systematic and uniform manner, including non-ideal scenarios such as with phase jitter and frequency offset. The simulation results show that the proposed classification based on histograms is effective with a relatively low computational cost.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Compressão de sinais em sistemas de rádio sobre fibra digital para redes fronthaul(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-07-23) MATE, Dércio Manuel; TEIXEIRA, António Luis de Jesus; OLIVEIRA, Rosinei de Sousa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3853897074036715; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434The introduction of technologies such as Carrier Aggregation (CA), Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) and Coordinated Multipoint (CoMP), aiming to improve the performance of LTE and LTE-A systems, increases the challenge for deploying Mobile Fronthaul due to the network capacity limitation to support higher transmission rates. An approach to deal with Frontahul’s capacity limitation is data compression. Several techniques have been developed for signal compression in fronthaul, and most of these techniques compress the signal transmitted in baseband. In this work, a compression technique is developed for specific scenarios of Digital Radio-over-Fiber systems, transmitting the signal in intermediate frequency (IF). This technique uses the radio channel state information (CSI) to control signal compression in the fronthaul. The simulation results with the developed technique demonstrate its ability to reduce the data transmitted onthe network by 45.05%. In addition, this technique allows the transmission of 64 QAM modulated signals using a lower quantizer resolution, e.g., 4 bits per sample, maintaining the EVM below 3GPP recommended threshold (8%). Finally, the performance of the fronthaul network is evaluated experimentally in an optical link of 20-km, considering scenarios with and without signal compression.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Contribuições aos estudo da compensação de harmônicos em sistemas de energia elétrica(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006-12-06) GALHARDO, Marcos André Barros; PINHO, João Tavares; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0847897516772421This thesis focuses on the study of methods for harmonic compensation in electrical power systems and discusses various aspects related to the presence of harmonics on them, such as the presentation of concepts and definitions in nonsinusoidal systems and strategies of power compensation. Exemplified by measurements and simulations the following topics are emphasized in this study: the influence of supply waveforms on nonlinear loads; the harmonic interaction between the supply voltage and the load currents, due to the system series impedance; and the mutual influence between nonlinear shunt loads, as a possible way of harmonic reduction. To simulate and predict the impact caused by nonlinear loads in a system, as well as the implementation of actions to mitigate these impacts in order to improve power quality, it is necessary to know the response of these loads. As a product of the present work, the development of techniques for modeling nonlinear loads under different supply conditions is emphasized, especially those using computacional intelligence, such as the neuro-fuzzy system and the artificial neural network; as well as the use of Volterra series for load behavior prediction.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Cross-layer optimizations for multimedia distribution over Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks and Flying Ad-Hoc Networks with quality of experience support(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-07-16) ROSÁRIO, Denis Lima do; BRAUN, Torsten Ingo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5439824326239585; CERQUEIRA, Eduardo Coelho; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1028151705135221The proliferation of multimedia content and the demand for new audio or video services have fostered the development of a new era based on multimedia information, which allowed the evolution of Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) and also Flying Ad-Hoc Networks (FANETs). In this way, live multimedia services require realtime video transmissions with a low frame loss rate, tolerable end-to-end delay, and jitter to support video dissemination with Quality of Experience (QoE) support. Hence, a key principle in a QoE-aware approach is the transmission of high priority frames (protect them) with a minimum packet loss ratio, as well as network overhead. Moreover, multimedia content must be transmitted from a given source to the destination via intermediate nodes with high reliability in a large scale scenario. The routing service must cope with dynamic topologies caused by node failure or mobility, as well as wireless channel changes, in order to continue to operate despite dynamic topologies during multimedia transmission. Finally, understanding user satisfaction on watching a video sequence is becoming a key requirement for delivery of multimedia content with QoE support. With this goal in mind, solutions involving multimedia transmissions must take into account the video characteristics to improve video quality delivery. The main research contributions of this thesis are driven by the research question how to provide multimedia distribution with high energy-efficiency, reliability, robustness, scalability, and QoE support over wireless ad hoc networks. The thesis addresses several problem domains with contributions on different layers of the communication stack. At the application layer, we introduce a QoE-aware packet redundancy mechanism to reduce the impact of the unreliable and lossy nature of wireless environment to disseminate live multimedia content. At the network layer, we introduce two routing protocols, namely video-aware Multi-hop and multi-path hierarchical routing protocol for Efficient VIdeo transmission for static WMSN scenarios (MEVI), and cross-layer link quality and geographical-aware beaconless OR protocol for multimedia FANET scenarios (XLinGO). Both protocols enable multimedia dissemination with energy-efficiency, reliability and QoE support. This is achieved by combining multiple cross-layer metrics for routing decision in order to establish reliable routes.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Desenvolvimento de sensores baseados em fibra óptica afunilada para monitoramento ambiental(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-02-06) SILVEIRA, Clenilson Rodrigues da; GIRALDI, Maria Thereza Miranda Rocco; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0270661833822671; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434The monitoring of environmental parameters is important in preserving the environment. The development of technologically advanced systems for measuring physical parameters allows the early detection of harmful environmental factors. For example, refractive index and temperature measurement systems can detect thermal and chemical pollution in rivers water. Curvature or tilt measurement is important in predicting natural phenomena that may cause damage to human beings, such as landslides and earthquakes. This thesis investigates sensors based on tapered optical fiber for monitoring environmental parameters. The investigated technology is based on standard single-mode optical fiber with tapered section that makes use of the evanescent field to detect changes in the external environment, such as refractive index, temperature and curvature. This type of device is analyzed through numerical simulations and experimental measurements. The numerical modeling is performed using finite difference beam propagation method (FD-BPM). It is numerically and experimentally demonstrated that once tapered optical fiber Michelson interferometer is subjected to bending the sensitivity to refractive index change is enhanced in comparison with the not bent device. Experimental measurements indicate that this type of device has great potential as a temperature sensor. Numerical results, based on FD-BPM, indicate that it is possible to optimize the taper parameters in optical fiber to improve its sensitivity to bending in terms of transmitted power.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Desenvolvimento e avaliacao empirica de um simulador educacional para o apoio ao ensino de ECG, baseado na orientacão espacial do coração.(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-09-21) PONTES, Paulo André Ignácio; SERUFFO, Marcos Cesar da Rocha; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3794198610723464; FRANCÊS, Carlos Renato Lisboa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7458287841862567The electrocardiogram (ECG) is one of the most commonly used diagnostic procedures in medicine, so it is essential that undergraduate medical students learn to interpret it correctly while they are still in training. Of course, students go through classical learning (ex: lectures and lectures). However, they are generally not efficiently trained in ECG interpretation. In this regard, educational support methodologies and tools in medical practice, such as educational software, should be considered as a valuable approach for medical training purposes. This thesis deals with the development of a simulator (VETOECG) that allows experiential teaching, so that students can relate to projections of the cardiac electrical vectors, through the manipulation of the spatial orientation of the heart and the repercussions in their respective waves in the ECG. In addition, this thesis reports a formal experiment (pre / posttest with a randomized control group) to evaluate empirically the learning effetiveness of the tool and analyzes the subjective factors of students' perception regarding motivation, user experience and collected through questionnaires. The results indicated that the simulator has positive learning efficacy compared to traditional methodologies (statistically significant difference, p-value <0.0001 *, median of 38.5 points and interquartile range 23.1 to 46.2 points) used for learning in the proposed study. It can be verified that the simulator is adequate in the most diverse dimensions, since they were evaluated positively: in terms of motivation (88.15%), user experience (76%) and learning (96.5%).Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Desevolvimento de dispositivos eletrônicos orgânicos nano e micro-estruturados: memória volátil, sesores e fotocélulas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-02-14) REIS, Marcos Allan Leite dos; DEL NERO, Jordan; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5168545718455899In this work, several nano and microstructured organic devices were developed based on molecules of 4-dimethyl amino azobenzene-2-carboxylic acid (Methyl Red – VM), C60 Fullerene, nanocomposite of Aluminum/Carbon Nanotubes (Al/NC) and polymers: Poly(3, 4- dioxithiophene ethylene)-poly(sulfonate stireno) – PEDOT-PSS and poly(3-hexiltiofeno) – P3HT. These devices are volatile memory, fuel sensors, thermal-piezoresisitive sensor and photocells, which were manufactured by spin-coating, drop casting and chemical vapor deposition, resulting in devices with planar or layer by layer geometry. Morphological, optical, electrical and thermal characterizations were performed on devices, resulting: (a) volatile memory with a bit retention time of 4.5 s, the characteristic curves of current vs. voltage with peak-valley ratios of 8: under a 10:1 voltage positive and negative electrical energized with electrical conductivity of 10-4 S / m (OFF state) to 3.10 S / m (ON) at room temperature, (b) fuel sensors like chemiresistor sensors characteristics with sensitivity to ethanol and gasohol in concentrations of 26.25 ppm, (c) thermal-piezoresistive sensor with polynomial relationship between temperature and electrical resistance, linear relationship between pressure and electrical resistance, more accurate than a K type thermocouple when compared to a mercury thermometer at room temperature, (d) photocells with better performance when doped by Methyl Red showed quantum efficiencies up to 0.04%, real power at 0.27 and power conversion efficiency of 2.0%. These results indicate that electronic devices developed showed a better performance in comparison to similar organics.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Designing cost-efficient transport solutions for fixed and mobile broadband access network(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-03-03) FARIAS, Fabrício de Souza; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434This thesis undertakes a techno-economic evaluation of transport solutions for fixed and mobile broadband access. In the case of future mobile access networks, it is proposed to make use of backhaul architectures using fiber and microwave applied to Greenfield deployments and a copper-legacy backhaul infrastructure based on Brownfield migration, i.e. finding a way of using a legacy infrastructure to its full capacity. At the same time, protection deployments based on fiber-wireless schemes are recommended for future fixed broadband. The main contribution made by this thesis is to carry out a research investigation into the total investment cost of the broadband transport infrastructure. This will be determined by employing two sets of models to assess the capital and operational expenditures, (CAPEX and OPEX respectively), of mobile and fixed broadband access network operators. First, this involves a set of models for mobile broadband that are summarized in a general methodology that aims at providing: traffic forecasting, wireless deployment, mobile backhaul deployment and total cost assessment. It was found that, fiber-based backhaul through a Greenfield deployment is the most energy-efficient option. Furthermore, Brownfield reveals that copper-based backhaul can still play a key role if used up to its full capacity and sharply reduces the investment costs in infrastructure. Additionally, there is an examination of the main differences in cost and energy values between Greenfield and Brownfield. Finally, a methodology is employed for fixed broadband based on network dimensioning, failure costs and an assessment of the total cost of ownership. The models are used to assess five architectures that represent different protection schemes for fixed broadband. This research shows the economic benefits of using a hybrid protection scheme based on fiber-wireless architecture rather than fiber-based protection options and a sensitivity analysis is conducted to show that the extra CAPEX invested to protect the infrastructure might be recovered through the OPEX after a number of years. The results obtained in the thesis should be useful for network operators to plan both their fixed and mobile broadband access network infrastructure in the future.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Dispositivos de controle não recíprocos baseados em cristais fotônicos para utilização na faixa de frequências óptica(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-09-11) PORTELA, Gianni Masaki Tanaka; DMITRIEV, Victor Alexandrovich; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0684541646225359The study of the photonic crystals technology is being performed by many research groups, mostly because of their many practical applications. Photonic crystal structures are comprised by materials with different refractive indexes, periodically arranged in one, two or three dimensions. They can be employed in the construction of passive photonic devices, for use in optical systems. Photonic crystal based devices have reduced dimensions when compared to the traditionally employed ones, favoring an increase on the component integration density in optical systems. On the basis of studies related to the symmetry groups of several geometrical configurations of photonic crystals and by performing many computational simulations, eight unprecedented passive devices were developed, with new operating principles. Five switches, one circulator, one nonreciprocal power divider and one multifunctional device were designed, on the basis of photonic crystals technology. The designed devices can be used, for example, in the next generation optical computers, as well as in optical communication systems.
