Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aspectos de avaliação de desempenho em redes ponto a ponto e ponto multiponto baseados em modelagem Markoviana e medições(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-04-02) SOUZA, Lamartine Vilar de; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434This thesis presents a methodology for performance evaluation of broadband access networks. The performance evaluation of networks is a way to identify and analyze how certain features, such as different traffic types or forms of use, can influence the behavior of the network in focus. This way, we can predict how the network will behave in future situations. The methodology is composed of two approaches: an approach based on measurements and the other based on modeling using Markov processes. The networks analyzed cover the two basic types of access architecture: ADSL2+ (asymmetric digital subscriber line 2+) networks, which are wired networks that use twisted pair cables; FBWN (fixed broadband wireless network) networks, which are wireless networks based on IEEE 802.16 standard. The measurement approach is focused on network behaves against three situations: transmission of a generic traffic, impact of non-stationary noise in the system, and using network for the transmission of real-time multimedia traffic. The modeling approach, in its turn, is based on predicting the behavior of the network using mathematical models based on Markov processes. The results presented indicate the feasibility of applying this methodology as form of performance evaluation. The results also make possible the extension of this methodology to other types of broadband access networks such as fiber optic networks, microwave links, and VDSL/VDSL2 (Very-high-data-rate DSL) networks.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Um método para determinação de pontos de operação com diversidade em linha digital de assinante usando balanceamento de espectro e algoritmo evolucionário(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-02-17) BEZERRA, Johelden Campos; KLAUTAU JÚNIOR, Aldebaro Barreto da Rocha; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1596629769697284; PELAES, Evaldo Gonçalves; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0255430734381362This work presents a method for finding diversity set operating points, which are Pareto optimal and diverse, to digital subscriber lines (DSL). Several works presented in the literature have proposed algorithms for optimizing data transmission in DSL lines, which results in a unique operating point for the modems. These works use spectrum balancing algorithms to solve the power allocation problem, which differs from the approach presented in this work. The proposed method, called diverseSB, uses a hybrid solution that consists of the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II(NSGA-II), based on a multi-objective optimization, and a spectrum balancing algorithm. The simulation results showed that, for a given diversity, the computational cost for find the operating points with diversity using the diverseSB proposed algorithm is much smaller than “brute-force” search methods. In the proposed method, NSGA-II perform calls to the spectrum balancing algorithm adopted, so many tests involving the same number of calls to the algorithm were performed with the diverseSB proposed and with the brute-force search method, and the results of diverseSB proposed were better than brute-force search method. For example, to obtain a diverse set operating points the brute-force method performs 1,600 calls to the spectrum balancing algorithm and the diverseSB proposed performed 535 calls.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Metodologia para estimação da topologia de linhas telefônicas através da análise de medições em uma e em duas portas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-06-20) LIMA, Vinicius Duarte; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434; KLAUTAU JÚNIOR, Aldebaro Barreto da Rocha; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1596629769697284This thesis proposes new methodologies for automatically identifying topologies of lines with one or more sections in a telephone network, which are used in digital subscriber line (DSL) systems. Methods for this purpose are very important for the line qualification in order to install the DSL service, especially when upgrading to more advanced services such as VDSL or adopting vectoring. In order to be useful to service providers in the qualification of a network, usually consisting of millions of lines, it is desired that, as well being accurate, qualification methods should have low computational cost. The proposed methods are based on this observation and perform an analysis of both impulse response and time domain reflectometry trace of a line under test. These two signals are analyzed using a method based on wavelet transform that identifies and extracts features that contain information about the line topology. Depending on the available features, one of three expert systems developed for interpreting information and identifying the topology is used. A thorough comparison with two state-of-art methods is also presented using several twisted pair copper cables. The results show that the proposed methods provide good accuracy with respect to topology identification at lower computational cost with respect to the other evaluated techniques.
