Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Caracterização dos efeitos comportamentais, teciduais e bioquímicos da administração intermitente e episódica de EtOH em ratas da adolescência à fase adulta(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-10-18) FERNANDES, Luanna de Melo Pereira; MAIA, Cristiane do Socorro Ferraz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4835820645258101The consumption of ethanol (EtOH) is enhanced particularly in adolescent female pubic. The EtOH intake and intermittent episodic own consumption rate around 3 times per week. The toxic effects of this kind of consumption is especially dangerous over the continuous consumption of EtOH followed due to the high dietary intakes of abstinence, causing major changes in the central nervous system (CNS) maturing in a short time consumption. Considering the epidemiological relevance and the harmful effects of EtOH on the oxidative balance, hormone production and neurotrophin CNS maturing, the aim of this study was to investigate the behavioural, tissue and biochemical responses derived from intermittent and episodic consumption of EtOH in rats in phase from adolescence to adulthood. Wistar female adolescents (n = 80) received by gavage, distilled water or EtOH (3 g/kg/day) for 3 consecutive days per week. The animals were assessed seven and a half hours after the last administration day 1, 4 and 8 weeks of episodes of binge drinking (37, 58 and 86 DPN, respectively), besides, a period of 14 days of abstinence was added after BD 8 (100 DPN) to evaluate the ability to reverse the CNS damage generated on it. The battery of behavioural tests consisted of spontaneous locomotor activity, object recognition, elevated plus maze, test pole, walking beam and rotarod. The animals were sacrificed and blood samples collected for evaluation of corticosterone levels of malondialdehyde, catalase activity, the activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione content. Therefore, the hippocampus was dissected to quantify the immunocontent BDNF. The administration of EtOH reached average peak blood concentration of 197.4 mg / dL and the period of 7.5 hours after the last administration EtOH in acute binge blood concentration was 0.7 mg / dL. Thus, the animals underwent behavioural tests post-consumer EtOH, not under the drug effect. Consumption of EtOH in binge did not affect weight gain of adolescent animals into adulthood, however, reduced the exploratory locomotor activity, impaired motor coordination, balance and motor learning associated with bradykinesia, as well as loss in the mnemonic process and increased anxiety-like behaviour. These losses were accompanied by hormonal elevation of corticosterone, reduced hippocampal BDNF levels and systemic imbalance in the oxidative balance. Thus, it was possible to identify that the damage found on the similar behaviour to anxiety, short-term memory, bradykinesia and spontaneous locomotor activity appeared from EtOH post-consumption for three consecutive days, however, they showed no recovery or worsening of damage after repeated episodes. In contrast, there was recovery of short-term memory in object recognition task associated with the return of normal levels of BDNF in adulthood. Moreover, it showed worsening in motor learning in young adult phase followed by gradual and partial recovery after prolonged period of drug withdrawal, yet the loss of motor coordination and balance remained in adulthood.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Investigação do efeito terapêutico do Psyllium sobre a dislipidemia infanto-juvenil(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-12-12) RIBAS, Simone Augusta; SILVA, Luiz Carlos Santana da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6161491684526382; BAHIA, Marcelo de Oliveira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3219037174956649Psyllium is one of the richest known sources of soluble mucilaginous dietary fibre, and is considered to be a useful supplement to dietary therapy for the treatment of patients with hypercholesterolemia. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of psyllium as a dietary supplement for the reduction of the lipidic profile of dyslipidemic Brazilian children and adolescents. Fifty-five subjects (6-19y) with mild to moderate hypercholesterolemia were evaluated in a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel clinical trial, conducted in two periods. During the initial dietary adaptation phase, all subjects enrolled were treated with diet low in saturated fat (<7%) and cholesterol (<200mg/day) for 6-week to prior to the treatment phase. After this period, all eligible participants were allocated randomly to two groups (control n=25 and psyllium n=30) using a computer-generated random number sequence. Over an eight-week clinical trial period, one group (psyllium) were maintained a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol supplemented daily with 7.0g of psyllium, while the control group received the same diet plus with an equivalent amount of cellulose (placebo). At the end of the treatment period, four subjects were excluded following randomisation (lost to follow up) leaving 51 subjects (control group n= 24; psyllium group n=27, who completed the study. At the end of experiment, the psyllium group presented a significant decrease in the concentrations of total cholesterol, TC (4.1% [-0.20 mmol/L]; p=0.01) and LDL-cholesterol, LDL-c (7.2% [-0.24 mmol/L]; p<0,001). Additional reductions were observed in comparison with the control group (TC: 4.1% [-0.20 mmol/L]; p=0.007) and LDL-c: 7.8% [-0.26 mmol/L]; p=0.002). None of the participants reported any aversion to the smell, taste, appearance or texture of the psyllium, and absence serious adverse effects. Psyllium therapy shows significant efficacy on lowering of the LDL-c. It also demonstrates to be safe and acceptable for pediatric population in the study.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Parâmetros vocais acústicos de sujeitos do sexo masculino antes, durante e após o processo de muda vocal(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-04-12) GUIMARÃES, Michelle Ferreira; SILVA FILHO, Manoel da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2032152778116209The voice and the vocal ability are different in every individual and in every stage of life. There is a limited number of studies on the vocal quality of children and adolescents during puberty. The aim of this study was to quantify the following parameters of acoustic analysis of voice: fundamental frequency, jitter, shimmer, harmonic-to-noise ratio and intensity. To understand the relationship between the voice and the development of children and adolescents, these parameters were correlated with each other and with the degree of pubertal development in male subjects. Methods: The subjects of the study were 110 males, aged between 11 and 20 years, students from three Macapá schools, where the data collection was carried out. The subjects were divided into 4 groups, 32 subjects aged between 11 and 12 years composed the Group I, 29 subjects aged between 13 and 15 the Group II, the Group III consisted of 30 subjects aged between 16 and 18 years and Group IV by subjects aged between 19 and 20 years. All subjects underwent computer-based voice recording using a unidirectional microphone. The following phonation tasks were requested: saying sustained vowel /é/, counting from 1 to 10 and reading a pre-established paragraph. Then, the subjects were assessed by a physician for characterization of pubertal development according to the stages described by Tanner. The voice analysis was performed using the voice acoustic program Vox Metria ®. Results: The subjects showed the following F0 average during sustained vowel: 223.28 Hz, 249.86 Hz, 122.63 Hz and 127.61 Hz for Groups I, II, III and IV respectively. The mean of F0 during the sequential speech was 217.09 Hz, 246.18 Hz, 117.27 Hz and 123.42 for Groups I, II, III and IV respectively. Shimmer showed increased values for the four groups. Jitter, intensity and harmonic noise ratio remained within normal limits established by the acoustic voice program used. Most subjects were in G3 (n = 38, 34.5%) and G4 (n = 42, 38.2%) and P3 (n = 34, 31%) and P4 (n = 36 , 32.7%) stages of pubertal development. The degree of pubertal development was correlated with F0 during speech (p <0.001) and with F0 during sustained vowel (p <0.001) and this correlation was statistically significant between G2 and G5, and G3 and G5. Conclusion: Subjects aging up to 15 years showed acoustic vocal parameters typical of the childish voice. The decrease of F0 occurs between 16 and 20 years old, but the voice is still in process of stabilization, with increased values of shimmer. F0 is the only parameter correlated with the degree of pubertal development. The last stage of voice change, in the studied population, is a late event in relation to pubertal development.
