Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Comportamento de blocos cerâmicos estruturais produzidos a partir da mistura de lama vermelha e argila(2011-12) MACÊDO, Alcebíades Negrão; COSTA, Diogo Henrique Pereira e; TRINDADE, Sandro Roberto dos SantosThe use of new techniques for waste reuse has become increasingly important in construction, especially when it deals with the use of waste from other industries and reduction on the consumption of natural materials. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of red mud (LV) waste, alumina metallurgical residue, on the production of structural ceramic blocks. The production of the blocks was carried out at a ceramic industry, using a mixture of 60% of red mud and 40% of clay. After the production of blocks, tests were conducted according to technical standards, such as water absorption and simple axial compression. From the analysis of the results, the conclusion was made that that structural blocks, made from the mixture of clay and LV, complied the standard parameters related to the rate of water absorption and compressive strength, and that the strength of theses blocks was significantly higher than those made from 100% clay.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Eflorescência salina na igreja de Santo Alexandre, Belém - PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-09) LOUREIRO, Alexandre Máximo Silva; ANGÉLICA, Rômulo Simões; SANJAD, Thais Alessandra Bastos Caminha; OLIVEIRA, Mário Mendonça de; COSTA, Marcondes Lima daThe structural masonry of the historical monuments of the city of Belém, Brazil, is made of stones and solid bricks fixed with lime mortar, which is affected by different pathologies, including salt efflorescence and moisture action. Some authors explain that these two agents cause layer detachment, mortar pulverization, cracks and a whitened appearance. This aim of this study was to identify the degradation process affecting the masonry of the right transept of the Church of Santo Alexandre, using instrumental analytical techniques. Laboratory analyses were used in order to understand the saline efflorescence process, the material damage it causes and the main kinds of salts. The first step in the study was to map out the masonry and the damage, showing the current situation and the most damaged areas. That was followed by a physical characterisation through an analysis of mortar particle sizes and proportions, analysis of masonry moisture contents, chemical characterisation -qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis of soluble salts, and mineralogical characterisation by X-ray diffraction. The techniques applied were effective and contributed to the achievement of a correct diagnosis, guiding the type of interventions required to solve the problem.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Viabilidade estrutural dos blocos em concreto vazado produzidos com agregados da região do baixo amazonas estado do Pará, para a utilização em alvenaria estrutural(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-03-13) SILVA, Hugo Ricardo Aquino Sousa da; MACEDO, Alcebíades Negrão; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8313864897400179This study aims to analyze the performance of blocks, prisms and Mini Structural masonry walls made from blocks produced with Concrete aggregates baixo amazonas Region. This region of the baixo amazonas has a number of types of materials that can be used in conjunction with other aggregates, the manufacture of concrete blocks for use in structural masonry. The construction of buildings with structural use of concrete blocks is growing considerably across the country. This study focuses attention on the city of Santarém and nearby towns in order to characterize the structural form and map the aggregates for the production of concrete blocks. In the city of Santarém and municipalities around thus considered baixo amazonas, many households are being used for the production of mortar and concrete, either dry or conventional. There is still no evidence about their effectiveness and efficiency. This work was performed in order to obtain greater insight into the structural masonry type of construction that is reclaiming its space in the building sector. In materials and methods to be employed in this certification testing of prisms and walls will be conducted using concrete blocks and aggregates of the baixo amazonas region.
