Numerous elements exogenous to the religious ritual such as advertising, economic tradeoffs and political motivations were observed to transform the meanings of religious devotion. The study reveals the dynamic nature of the reproduction of popular religion within the context of diverse popular festivities in different social-spatial realities in the Amazon. Religious devotion and 'practical sense' are entwined in the process of transforming the event, revealing the complexity of social exchanges practiced in a patron saint's festival at a large urban scale.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) A memória coletiva e o ofício de sapateiro em Belém-Pa: as narrativas de mestres e aprendizes da arte dos calçados(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-09-04) ROCHA, Manoel Cláudio Mendes Gonçalves da; SILVEIRA, Flávio Leonel Abreu da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1972975269922101The objective of the present study is to think over shoemaker craft in Belém, Pará. The research starts from the assessment of cobbler’s narratives, accurately workers from Batista Campos’s district and Campina’s District, located at central portion of the city. By the review of shoemaker’s memories about their social trajectories, I intend to comprehend how this occupation altered itself, how these people realize changes in urban life and space modifications over the years elapsed, therefore, frame and reconfiguration of urban world’s landscapes. The propositions listed here point to the fact that shoemaker knowledge and know-how, and a “saber viver” that reflects everyday experience of these individuals make workshops constitute spaces of sociability. In these places, besides manufacture and repair of shoes, other social forms are produced – full of sensitive and symbolic contents resulting from interactions and relationships engendered there and by the mediation of craft inherent technical gesture.Tese Acesso aberto (Open Access) O Novelo de Dalcídio. Mundo ribeirinho e subalternidades amazônicas no romance Belém do Grão-Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-09-30) TAKETA, Brenda Vicente; CASTRO, Fábio Fonseca de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7411902906895180This work consists in an attempt to create a dialogue between the novel Belém do Grão-Pará, by Dalcídio Jurandir, and a set of authors and studies from different areas and moments that help to understand what we identify in that book as the universe of riverside subalternities. Thus, we constitute an argumentative line with elements that, at first, would not seem interconnected, but which, at our point of view, make sense when they are stitched together as a proposal for interpreting the book. We start from an introductory discussion on the persistence of a certain type of agroextractivist peasantry in the Amazon, based on the work of Francisco de Assis Costa. Then we seek to understand the long-lasting ignorance about Amazonian biodiversity that results of the relationship between man, nature and culture, partly associating it with the process of the formation of natural sciences, with the influences of racist theories and with the constitution of social and historical invisibility of the agroextractivist peasants studied by Costa. Without this movement, based on processes of subalternizing humanities and their respective citizenships, we consider that it would not be possible to constitute an organizational pattern such as the system of "aviamento", a type of barter that was instituted since the Amazonian colonial period and is immensely important to understand the narrative context of the said novel. Finally, we try to focus on the effort to relate the literary narrative to others, using as a background the discussion about how the subalternities universe restricted to Belém do Grão-Pará also dialogues with the present capital of Pará. From excerpts involving Alfredo's arrival in Belém, we seek to discuss what we mean by “processes of subalternization”, pointing out in what way the production of differences through racialization processes are part of the capitalist mode of production since its first advances in the colonial world, as pointed out by Mbembe. In this debate, we are especially interested in the notion of archive and in the ethical imperative of thinking about the reconstitution of the history of the subalternized, also by a performative dimension, of moral imagination. The final effort was focused in understanding the unfolding of violence and hierarchization in these subordinate universes, both in relation to work and concerning the articulation between class, race and gender differences, without forgetting that, in a contingent way, alliances and solidarity are as part of it as are violence and conflicts.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) O olhar invisível: visões e narrativas de populares em situação de rua e vulnerabilidade social nos tempos de pandemia da covid-19 em Bragança-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-12) GATINHO, Erlan José; QUADROS, João Plinio Ferreira de; COSTA, Nívia Maria VieiraBecause so abrupt changes that the world is experiencing actually, through this research, some reflective notes that have become pertinent, such as inequalities, discrimination and social impacts, in addition to transformations triggered in times of pandemic, are brought to the center of the scene. of COVID-19. The problem is to understand how this commercialization still remains important, to this day, in the largest popular market in the city and to the city itself considering that it has been active since the Brazilian colonial days. The local ethnography becomes a cultural, historical and economic significance to the social life of Belém; the players in this market perform, between water and land, in a set of collective spaces, where an interpenetration of history to local culture exists, and is transformed in practices and update the senses. Methodologically, research was done using secondary data for theoretical foundation and the ethnographic research, with both direct and participant observation, once accepted in the field, sometimes, I was able to be help with the fish commercialization at the “Pedra”, at the Marambaia market and another point of sale in the city. Ver-o-Peso, was researched as a popular Market, symbolic system and of cultural importance for the city of Belém. There was an investigation concerning the origin of this fish trading space as a place of interrelations, its specific characteristics, local conflicts, laws or tacit regulations, and also the preparation of the fishing boat crews for a new journey, because once a fish load is sold, distributed throughout Belém and other places, a cycle ends and new preparations start again for the next trip in search for fish to be sold at this place. The fish distributed in Belém reaches final consumers in natura, and is found in street markets, small markets, supermarkets and other points of sale throughout the city, including the most diverse restaurants as regional dishes to people who love good food. During the final considerations, there was a reflection concerning the fish commercialization network and its economic, social and cultural aspects, its rules, informalities and conflicts, as a response to why fish circulation remains so vigorous after so many years, having Ver-o-Peso as the center of its flow, as well as, propositions collected from workers who labor there on a daily basis concerning its permanence at the local.Tese Acesso aberto (Open Access) “Pelas ruas de Belém...”: produção de sentido e dinâmica cultural nos arrastões do Pavulagem em Belém do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-04-01) CHAGAS JUNIOR, Edgar Monteiro; RODRIGUES, Carmem Izabel; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5924616509771424Recent demands by groups of residents from large Brazilian urban centers for some cultural manifestations understood as traditional – approached according to a model of cultural representation whose dimension of identity value has been increasingly activated – has permitted some reflections that surpass the conditions of use and appropriation of urban public spaces that elaborate and institute different forms of artistic- cultural expression without necessarily following the consolidated standards for large events where distance from the artist and the public prevails. During the last two decades, there has been a resuming of actions of pedagogical nature on knowledge whose origin are in old popular dances that started to provide a referential for production of discourses by urban cultural activists who became known for their appeal to “degradation” of identities in a world economically globalized, redirecting participation and consumption of the socalled cultural assets and providing a form of public mobilization that began to (re) assume the streets as referential in the sense of socialization and experimentation as driving energy of accomplishment of a cultural action performatically ritualized. Therefore, this study aims to collaborate with these discussions anchored in the possibility of intermingling among the notions of heritage, ritual and performance motivated by observations of a cultural movement called Arrastão do Pavulagem, which has been performing for the last twenty eight years, and has been consolidated in the annual cultural schedule of Belém do Pará as a moment of esthetic and symbolic (re) creation of the festivity based on performance of musicians, dancers, actors, producers who carry out their actions in an environment, that suggests that it is institutionalized from a sense of participation and experimentation of the place as one of the fundaments of this movement mobilized by different interests, but that, when meeting at this environment, intermingle and performatically elaborate discourses and visualities that operate in the possibility of (re) interpretation of the urban landscape of the Historical Center of Belém do Pará.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Rua Dr. Assis: uma incursão pela paisagem patrimonial transfigurada da Cidade Velha, Belém do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-03-19) TUTYIA, Dinah Reiko; MIRANDA, Cybelle Salvador; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3254198738703536This research investigate Dr. Assis street landscape transformation – located in Cidade Velha neighborhood of Belém – based on rereading of buildings its classified as "renewal" by the Law 7.709 of 1994. This law is responsible for Belém’s protection and preservation Historic, Artistic, Environmental and Cultural Heritage. The “renewal” category fits the properties with no interest of preservation, which can be replaced by new ones. Thus these lots in the historic center, “opens custody” to the dynamics of transformation, a city's intrinsic characteristic. The transfigured landscape which escapes from the “cultural heritage aesthetic” consolidates a new “Cidade Velha” – Belém’s genesis district – which along with Campina are the city’s Historic Center. Based on street ethnography method, an incursion is made into this landscape, which keeps in its, the building’s materiality and in the memories of the local residents and traders, the transformer process of the protected urban fabric. Thus, the space (re) cognition, aims to bring out the material-immaterial relation, eclipsed by the legislation category of 1994.
