(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-07-20) PINHEIRO, Joana Cláudia Zandonadi; MESQUITA, Andre Luiz Amarante; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1331279630816662; GOMES, Luiz Moreira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7074266533007983
This work deals with the analysis of the banana life cycle in the Lake of Tucuruí region, in the State of Pará. The environmental impacts of this product and its production chain are quantified. It is also evaluated the potential of beneficiation, aiming the incentive of its production in the region. Regional banana producers were visited on their properties, where they mapped the life-cycle flows of this product, from planting to sale. The methodology applied in the research involves the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) tool, which allows the visualization of the environmental and economic contributions of each productive process. This approach makes it possible to focus analysis on reducing environmental impacts and on better processing practices and costs of product processing. The obtained results show that the properties studied have similar emission indices of environmental impacts as others studied in the world and that the stages of the planting until the formation of the fruit have elevated indices of emissions, so that the application of best practices to the processes, so that there is potential reduction of the environmental impacts generated. The LCA methodology used was extremely important to identify the factors that impact the problems of agricultural production. Thus, we can propose improvements in the use of natural resources for the properties studied, seeking conservation and sustainability for future generations.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2002-07-01) SILVA, Luis Mauro Santos; OZIER-LAFONTAINE, Harry
In tropical regions, intensive banana (Musa accuminata) monocropping has severe agronomic and environmental impacts, and the sustainability of this production is actually highly compromised. Yield reductions are principally due to the decrease of soil fertility and root systems damages by sod fungus and nematodes. Several alternatives actually aim to improve sustainable banana cropping systems. Among them, the cultivation of banana in cover-cropping systems with legumes is a promising one. The development of such systems, however, mainly depends on me knowledge and control of how the mixed component crop competes and affects the production of the principal banana crop. The goal of this study is to estimate the functioning of the banana canavalia ensiformis cover-crop system in field conditions Canavalia is an annual legume that is supposed to have nematode control properties. In this study, however, we focus only on the capacity of banana to perform in such cropping systems, under competition for environmental resources. It is a prerequisite to the development of further investigations uppon bio-control mechanisms that could be managed in integrated protection systems. An analysis of the elaboration of yield components during the vegetative phase of the growing cycle of the banana crop was performed: it is during that phase that the potential yield (number of fruits and fruit filling) is determined, and it is assumed that legume competition can affect yield elaboration. Three treatments were carried out: (i) BPO : banana pure crop, (ii) BA0 simultaneous mixed banana-canavalia, (iii) BA60: -mixed banana-canavalia with banana planted 2 months after canavalia. Growth and development parameter were registered weekly by non destructive methods (leaf area, leaf phenology, stipe height and diameter for banana, and canopy extension for canavalia). Destructive sampling were carried out twice a month to determine above ground dry matter (DM) and mineral composition of banana in the different treatments. In addition to this agronomical evaluation, we developed a banana-intercropped modal adapted from the STICS model for validation and scenario analysis. The analysis of the vegetative cycle of banana over 7 months shows that the plantation date is crucial for the success of the intercrop. There was no significant difference between BP0 and BA0 for DM before flowering (4,5 t MS ha-1 for BP0 against 4,2 t MS ha-1 for BA0). The number of weddings is also significantly reduced for 8 to 3 between BP0 and BA0, respectively. Bananas performances are, however, more affected in BP60. Here, banana DM is reduced lo 2,7 t ha-1, that can be explicated by a higher adverse effect by the canavalia that was dominant at the plantation of banana -- 74 cm height against 29 cm for banana. The performed yield analysis may be considered as an efficient approach for the evaluation of the vegetative phase of the banana, growing sole or intercropped. The analysis of the reproductive phase is actually carried out and should complete this first diagnosis. Model validation under simulated vs. observed data was satisfying. Scenario studies of pure crop situations predicted yield values of 28 ha -1 against 20 t ha -1 (1) in situation with 400 kg nitrogen ha -1 and 133 mm irrigation, (ii) in situations without fertilizers and irrigation, respectively. A simulated yield of 16 t ha-1 was obtained in the case of intercrop without inputs. Test of contrasting scenarios may be used as a decision tool for the definition of adapted intercropping patterns - optimization of plant density and synchronization of the plantation dates of the two species, for instance -, and new agronomical standards may be studied. These investigations, however, must be carried on with the purpose of mean and long term effects evaluation of these cover-cropping systems in relation with the evolution of soil bio-physic-chemical properties - organic matter status and evolution, soil fauna transformation, weeding -, and sustainability.

Given the immense diversity of fruits, vegetables and products developed in northern Brazil, tucupi, jambu and banana are notable because they are widely used, not only in culinary of Pará, but for several other purposes. Aiming to use these abundant products in the northern Brazil, the present work aimed at obtaining a dehydrated product based on tucupi, jambu and green banana, through the Refractance Window process. The formulations were dried at a temperature of 70 ° C, in a time of 50 min. Two formulations coded as FORM I and FORM II were dried. The initial moisture content of the formulations was 88% wb, and the values of final moisture content of the dehydrated product were 10% (for FORM I) and 9% (for FORM II). The drying time of the samples varied from one formulation to another, and the time was shorter for the drying of FORM II. The dried products had high water absorption capacity (2159.091 for FORM II) and (1666.667 for FORM I) and had an average oil absorption capacity. As to hygroscopicity, the products were considered little hygroscopic: 7.9 and 9.27 g H2O / g of sample for FORM I and FORM II, respectively. The dehydrated products showed significant content of phenols: 221.18 and 169.49 mg GAE / 100 g of sample for FORM I and FORM II, respectively. Regarding antioxidant capacity, the dehydrated products had higher antioxidant capacity by DPPH radical sequestration than the ABTS radical. For the results of color, the values (ΔE *) varied significantly for the dehydrated products with the same drying conditions. The shelf life was evaluated for 35 days and it was observed that the dried product of the Form I showed no change from seventh day, when evaluated by moisture gain, whereas FORM II showed variation during the entire period of storage . When the assessed parameter was the water activity, the FORM II did not change from the 14th day, while the FORM I changed only in twenty-first day of storage.

Qualidade pós-colheita de cultivares de bananeira do grupo 'maçã', na região de Belém - PA
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-12) CARVALHO, Ana Vânia; SECCADIO, Lara Lima; OLIVEIRA JÚNIOR, Moisés Cordeiro Mourão de; NASCIMENTO, Walnice Maria Oliveira do
The present study aimed to characterize the physical and physical-chemical properties and perform sensory evaluation of ripe fruits of three banana cultivars of the subgroup 'Maçã ' at different stages of maturation. Bunches of Caipira, Thap Maeo, and BRS Tropical cultivars were harvested at stage 2 of color peel (green-mature) and stored at room temperature. They were evaluated at color peel stages 2, 3, 5, 7 with respect to length and diameter of the fruits. The following properties of the pulp were investigated: firmness, pH, soluble solids, titratable acidity and sugar concentration (reduced, not reduced and total). Fully ripe fruits were also analyzed regarding the sensory acceptance through the attributes aroma, pulp color, texture, and flavor of fruit. As the ripening progressed, acidity, soluble solids and sugars increased, factors responsible for the fruit flavor, as well as the decrease in fruit firmness and the pH reduction were observed for all cultivars. With respect to sensory analysis, the Tropical and Thap Maeo cultivars presented the highest average scores for all sensory attributes evaluated.
