This article has as its purpose to reflect on imaginary, memory and narratives of a carnival group in the city of Vigia de Nazaré, named “As Virgienses”. The intention is to present, from the narratives of merrymakers, the images that are constructed in this space and that are beyond of mess, disorder and other images associated to the carnival. From the memory of these singular characters that turn themselves in double femininities and masculinities, it was possible to discover a whole imaginary of social issues that emerged from subjective dynamics that feature social tensions in the routine of the Vigiense society.
