Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação econômica de três tipos de suplementação mineral para bovinos de corte no Estado do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-07) BARBOSA, Francisberto Batista; BOMJARDIM, Henrique dos Anjos; HELAYEL, Michel José Sales Abdalla; FAIAL, Kelson do Carmo Freitas; OLIVEIRA, Carlos Magno Chaves; MALAFAIA, Pedro Antônio Muniz; BRITO, Marilene de Farias; BARBOSA NETO, José DiomedesThree alternatives of mineral supplementation of 18 to 20-month-old male Nelore cattle with 299.5 to 308.5 kg of body weight were used at a farm in northeast of Pará state, Brazil. To evaluate which mineral mixture resulted in better cost-benefit, three groups of 20 head were supplemented for six months, from March to August of 2012. Group 1 was supplemented with a selected mineral mixture (SMM) composed of 25kg NaCl, 50kg dicalcium phosphate, 190g copper sulphate, 60g cobalt sulphate, and 15g sodium selenite, having 133g Na, 123g P, 631mg Cu, 167mg Co, and 9mg Se per kg; this mixture was made based in previous clinical-nutritional examination of herd. Group 2 (control), supplemented only with NaCl; and group 3 received a commercial mineral mixture (CMM), routinely used in this farm, with 130g P, 220g Ca, 18g Mg, 36g S, 6000mg Zn, 1500mg Cu, 2000mg Mn, 200mg Co, 90mg I, and 36mg Se per kg. Concentrations of phosphorus, copper, zinc and iron were determined in liver and 12th ribs. The best cost-benefit alternative was the SMM; the forage alone did not contain enough Co to meet the requirements of the control group, but provided enough P, Cu, Zn and Se during the five months of the experiment.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Competitividade inter-regional de sistemas de produção de bovinocultura de corte(2013-08) OAIGEN, Ricardo Pedroso; BARCELLOS, Júlio Otávio Jardim; CANOZZI, Maria Eugênia Andrighetto; SOARES, Jean Carlos dos Reis; CANELLAS, Leonardo Canali; ALVES, Carine Oliveira; TAVARES, Héliton Ribeiro; COSTA, Fabrício Martins daThis paper presents a methodology for evaluating production systems by measuring the intern competitiveness of in beef cattle. During the first quarter of 2010, questionnaires were administered to 65 farmers, 36 interviews in the Southern Region (State of Rio Grande do Sul) and 29 in the Northern Region (States of Pará and Rondônia). Defined the key drivers that affect the international competitiveness - technology, management, market relations and institutional environment, an specific weight was assigned to each in order to get the index of competitiveness. The results were statistically analyzed by the item response theory and the correspondence analysis (ANACOR) with the SPSS® software. The South was more competitive than the North. Regardless of region, the critical factors of competitiveness were: crop-livestock integration, strategic planning, calculation of financial indicators, beef pricing, access to technological innovations and organization of farmers.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Efeitos do peso vivo sobre a comercialização de bezerros de corte em leilões(2010-04) CHRISTOFARI, Luciana Fagundes; BARCELLOS, Júlio Otávio Jardim; BRACCINI NETO, José; OAIGEN, Ricardo Pedroso; SANTOS, Angélica Pereira dos; CANOZZI, Maria Eugênia AndrighettoThe effects of the live weight of 1,880 lots of calves marketed in 13 auctions in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, on the value of final sale per unit of weight were evaluated, as well as the frequency of the lots according to the weight class during the autumn and spring seasons, in the period from 2004 to 2006, was characterized. The data were analyzed by frequency histograms, regression, and correlation analyses. The live weight is one of the characteristics that influenced the price of the calves; however, the magnitude of the effect was higher in years of great demand. A negative correlation was observed between price and weight of the calves in spring, which were results of the offer of heavier animals, due to the season effects or the oldest age of the calves compared to those presented in the autumn. The chain conjuncture of the bovine meat and the prices of other categories have great relation with the prices paid. Therefore, the acquisition of highter or heavier animals in the occasion of the business deal may help in the reduction of the costs represented by the replacement in the production.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Enfermidades podais em bovinos de corte criados em regime extensivo no sudeste do Estado do Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-05-22) SILVEIRA, José Alcides Sarmento da; BARBOSA NETO, José Diomedes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1516707357889557The epidemiological study was conducted in 12 properties with the history of foot diseases occurrence and the clinical examination of the affected animals for the diagnosis of foot diseases was performed only in nine of these properties. It was found on the management centers multiple risk factors for digits injuries, as syringes floors paved with rocks, working chutes with iron fittings exposure, loading ramps covered by sharp stones and the lack of maintenance and structural errors. In every farm there was an inappropriate handling of animals. In 91.7% of farms (11/12) there were pickets with trunks of trees and 66.7% (8/12) had areas of sloping relief with stones. Moreover, 16.7% (2/12) of the farms had marsh areas and wetlands. Sodomy was reported in all properties. None of the farms adopted preventive measures related to foot problems. 498 cattle between males and females were examined. The hind limbs were the most affected both in females and in males. 629 lesions were diagnosed in females. The septic pododermatitis was the most common, followed by claw deformities, pododermatitis in the paradigits and digital dermatitis. Between the examined males 285 injuries were diagnosed and the most common were septic pododermatitis, claw deformities and heel erosion. It was concluded that management errors associated with inadequate facilities were factors that contributed to the occurrence of foot diseases in beef cattle in the studied farms. The environmental characteristics favored the development of lesions; combined injuries were more prevalent than the simple ones, being diagnosed in animals in all studied farms; and the early diagnosis was not carried out in the field, which helped to increase the severity and the diversification of the diagnosed foot problems.
