Our objective, in the present work, is dedicated to demonstrating the main epistemological elements of the complexity elaborated by Edgar Morin in general contrast with the principles of the modern method of Descartes. We start from the following guiding questions: how does the passage from modern ordered knowledge to complex organized knowledge occur and how does this knowledge culminate in a conception of humanism? The hypothesis we defend is that Morin's principles of complexity are exposed as a critical dialogue about the limitations of the modern method, pointing out how the last one has an ambivalent impact on science and society under the name of degenerate humanism and a regenerated humanism. Methodologically, we discuss, firstly, the conception of science and method in modernity, starting with the arguments that precede and formulate the organization of a quantitative method of knowledge, having as a central axis the contributions of Descartes in his main works (1952). The second part of the text turns to the conception of science and method according to the contributions of the epistemology of complexity, proposed by Edgar Morin (1996, 2011, 2015, 2016), where we present the main intelligibilities of his theory: the dialogic principle, the recursive principle, the hologrammatic principle. In the third and last part of the text, we compare complex thinking and modernity based on the concept of humanism. Initially, we expose the reading of modernity by complexity, highlighting the category of rationalization. Then, we explain how the modern method has repercussions in contemporary times with the advent of the action ecology. Finally, we present a reconstruction of an alternative method and knowledge, capable of dealing with uncertainties, culminating in the proposal of a regeneration of humanism.

Efeitos de antecedentes sociais sobre a seleção de práticas culturais de complexidade progressiva
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014) LEITE, Felipe Lustosa; TOURINHO, Emmanuel Zagury; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5960137946576592
Metacontingencies describe functional relations between (a) interlocking behavioral contingencies (IBCs), (b) its aggregate product (AP) and (c) an environmental event contingent to the relation between IBC and AP – cultural consequence (CC). Seeking to analyze the inclusion of antecedent elements in metacontingencies, the present study had the objective to assess the effects of concurrence between cultural systems on the evolution of more complex IBCs. Experiment 1 investigated the effects of a concurrence context on the evolution of more complex interlocks. The results indicated that the concurrence context influenced the selection of more complex IBCs, with and emphasis highlighted on the role of vocal verbal interactions among members of different cultural systems. Experiment 2 evaluated the effects of the verbal interactions among members of different cultural systems on the evolution of more complex interlocks. Experiment 3 investigated the effects of cultural consequences of varied magnitudes, proportional to the degree of complexity of the interlock on the evolution of more complex IBCs. The results indicate the procedure was effective in selecting interlocks that are more complex. The data of these studies suggest that cultural antecedents of social nature influence the evolution of cultural practices and need further experimental investigations.

Study on the complexity of the epistemological limitations of the dialectical philosophy in researches in the field of education. How are the epistemological limitations of dialectical philosophy configured in research in education, despite the recognition of its heuristic capacity and its logical organicity? What is the place of importance attributed to the Dialectic Philosophy within the production of scientific knowledge in the field of educational research in Brazil? What is the Dialectic Philosophy receptivity in the investigative practices of researchers in education in Brazil? How to setup the scientific research method and what themes and study objects are privileged in the construction of scientific knowledge in education? What are the epistemological limits in dialectical approach when its assumptions are applied in the construction of doctoral theses from the Graduate Program in Education? The general objective of the study was to understand and expose the epistemological limits that permeate the formation of researchers and the construction of scientific knowledge in the area of education under the influence of Dialectical Philosophy. Specifically, it aims to analyze the importance given to Dialectic Philosophy in knowledge production in theses developed within the Postgraduate Programs of education area; to reflect on the receptivity of the Dialectic Philosophy in the investigative practices of researchers in education and contributions of historical dialectical materialism for the researcher formation in this subject area; to discuss the construction of knowledge logic expressed in the research methods used in the doctoral theses aiming the production of scientific knowledge in education area; and analyze the epistemological implications of the dialectical approach in the production of scientific knowledge resulting from doctoral theses. Starting from an epistemological approach based on Dialectical Philosophy, especially materialism and historical ones. The bibliographical and documentary sources were chosen as the main basis of the research, highlighting works of Karl Marx and Friedrich Hegel and doctoral thesis supervised by Professors Antônio Joaquim Severino and Dermeval Saviani. The historical time span of the research covered the period from 1974 to 2015. I could see that the dialectical approach in educational research, including in its historical materialist conception, presents limitations that are not only of the order of the theoretical insufficiency of the researchers who adopt their presuppositions in the researches they carry out, but because of the complexity in which the tensions originate Epistemological implications implicit in such philosophy, due to the contradictory character in which the movement of the real and its own logic is established, the difficulty of putting into practice dialectical historical materialism, in the perspective of the praxis transforming reality, as well as the way authors construct their heuristic objects and methods in the process of producing scientific knowledge. Therefore, the multiplicity of dimensions and relations of the object in the historical context implies still more in the complex presence of the limits of the dialectic, in spite of its heuristic capacity in the researches in education. Based on the principle of contradiction, I have been able to conclude that these limits are explained by principles and conceptions at the heart of dialectical logic, both from an ideal point of view and from a material perspective, and which are forged along with epistemological possibilities. Finally I inquire and point out some vestiges of the limitations faced in the construction of this thesis.

A natureza complexa do patrimônio paleontológico da praia do Atalaia, munícipio de Salinópolis, Pará, Amazônia Oriental, Brasil
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-09-02) SILVA, Rayana Alexandra Sousa da; COSTA, Sue Anne Regina Ferreira da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3629751361208856; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3314-5148
In this research, we reflect on Paleontological Heritage as a specifically complex heritage category that is inserted in environmental, cultural and mineral policies. The analysis starts from a review of the transformations in the conceptions of cultural and natural heritage in Brazil, to problematize the various dimensions that interfere in the processes of heritage patrimonialization, besides contextualizing and reinforcing its social importance in a context of great complexity. We will look specifically at the paleontological heritage of Atalaia Beach, which is one of the main beach resorts in the state of Pará, receiving tourists from all over Brazil and the world every year. The region's patrimony is formed by an expressive fossil record from the Brazilian marine Cenozoic, dating from 23 to 25 m.y., representing the transgressive moment of advance and retreat of the Atlantic Ocean over the continent. The fossils found are mainly of marine invertebrates and vertebrates, such as manatees, rays, sharks, gastropods and fishes. Thus, the main objective of this work is to investigate and analyze the paleontological heritage of Atalaia Beach, seeking to relate and communicate among themselves the subjects, environmental context and cultural heritage. To this end, based on Morin, in the method that seeks complexity through the creation of avenues of approach, we carried out observations in different pheres: a public hearing for environmental licensing, an activity with elementary school teachers and an interview with a private collector of fossils. The results presented in the form of two articles point out that a) the use of this heritage follows a utilitarian logic of nature transformation; b) we highlight a complex network of environmental, economic and social issues that must be considered when any project of valorization, education or even of analysis of the paleontological heritage of Atalaia Beach is intended; c) we point out the urgent need to transform our practices in relation to paleontological heritage, so that we can think and act upon it in a more comprehensive way, conceiving it as a fundamental right which contributes to the full exercise of citizenship.
