(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-08-03) MATOS, Francinaldo Ferreira de; MARTINS, Paulo Fernando da Silva; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3223618156268542
This work evaluates why extractive family farmers of COOPALJ (Small Farmers Agroextractive Cooperative of the Lago do Junco municipality, Maranhão state) accepted to practice cultivation without burning while others rejected it, and why some initially accepted it and then gave it up. The cultivation without burning is a technical encouraged by ASSEMA (Association for Settlement Areas in the Maranhão state) and pursues the babauçu-trees preservation and the sustainability of small farms. The research utilized the hypothetical deductive method supported by semi-structured interviews and not participative observation. The results pointed that farmers that accepted the no-burning cultivation as a technical innovation were those with agricultural production systems likely to suffer various degrees of integration, while for those who rejected the technical innovations there were a high risk of transformation of production system and that could not be overcome. For the farmers that persisted, the non-burn cultivation is not an alternative in relation to burning cultivation but its complement for meet partially the technical, social, environmental and productive goals, negotiated with the cooperative. These innovations include partials acceptation or rejection, dropping or persistence and the farmers can to appropriate of them, transform them and used them in other agricultural activities on the property. On the other hand, adopting or rejecting of non-burning cultivation is associated, respectively, with balance between labor and consumption or imbalance in the agricultural system for meet the food needs of family members, the abandonment of non-burning is associated with increase of imbalance between labor and consumption after the adoption, and the persistence with the increase of balance. Even farmers who have rejected the non-burning cultivation or give it up, includes fields burned with practices from the non-burning cultivation in degrees and different farm activities.

Estudo sobre a organização da produção em área de assentamento no Sudeste do Pará
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2004-10-22) MONTEIRO, Dion Márcio Carvaló; HURTIENNE, Thomas Peter; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7133222063843073
This paper was developed in a rural workers site in the town of Parauapebas/PA, and it aimed: (01) identify, at the Palmares site, the main problems caused by the application of an agro-industrial economic reproduction model, what is weird in the southeast of the state of Pará (imported from the south of the country); (02) check some outcomes, mainly economic, but also the social ones that were caused by the current structure of the existing production organization in that site; and finally, (03) analyze the presumed conflict that there is between the collective production model, proposed by the MST*, and the individualized economic one, preferred by the rural workers. It was identified that the main obstacles in the attempt of forced insertion of an economic model that did not seem to contemplate the infrastructure and technological differences between these two regions occurred due to the lack of administrative and technical knowledge of most of the workers as well as their chiefs. Regarding the main obtained economic outcomes, it was verified that the main produced cultures were: rice, corn and cassava (being the latter commercialized in natura or in the form of flour), which are common in the region. As far as the collective and individualized production is concerned, it was noted that the structure of organization and management of the workers needs to be better developed so that this collective economic model really succeeds. The research considered a group of 517 families which were officially registered by the National Institute of Colonization and Agro Reform, where 105 family chiefs were interviewed and as a way to guarantee the research representativity. One at least or three families at the most were interviewed in each production nucleus. 38 going on nucleus were identified, which amount was found after counting before the association and nucleus coordinators, a questionnaire was applied to all these local heads. One of the outcomes of the research was: more than 95% of the families that were annexed to one of the production nucleus work in an individualized way and that almost 50% of the nucleus heads informed that there is very little cooperation among their directed structure components. The research also indicates that it is still necessary to advance in the investigations presented here, mainly in the definition and in the building of economic models that are able to accommodate individual productive activities as well as collective or cooperative ones in the country.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-04-12) ALFAIA, Fred Junior Costa; SILVA, Gilmar Pereira da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7624395840820523
This present work had the objective the study of the theory and practice of workers agricultural cooperative resistance “Tocantina”/ CART. Thus sought answer the follows questions. How to engineer with the real reality as a dialectical element ,in other words, how the reality maked for the workers forge the theory and practice of this workers? that form the objective engeneered is relationed with the structure economic, political and ideological? And with this relation reflects with the theory and practice of this worker organized in the CART? With this sought to explain the dynamic of the social formation, using the comprehension of category of the theory and practice. The methodology was made with the bibliographic revision, interview semi structured and method of analysis of materialism historical dialectical. That form the research met the follow conclusions: the theory and practice of the workers, the inside of the cooperative forge with the real conditions of life in the comunity, the nature economic, politic, technical and cientical; The outside interests (the capital) are materialized in CART by conditioning training undertaken by ONGs, which provide training restricted to the production process (technical and commercial) is also conditioning the CART's annual plan that meets the requirements of partner commercial (quality and quantity and type of product that will provide). This contributes to the development and reproduction of utilitarian praxis which is characterized by not giving the man the understanding of things and reality. However, the utilitarian praxis the historical path produces objectively its contradiction. This is because it is not simply as a practical knowledge, but is supported by its concrete realization, this in turn becomes an element of economic relations and giving opportunities to the worker members / associate a "new" dialectical movement that will enable the activity cognitive subject's apprehension of contradiction from this reality, which may reflect the quality of development, although the ideal plan, teleological activity which is characterized by the practical requirement. This process is known as the dialectic of praxis.
