Avaliação da política pública de ação afirmativa na UFRA: análise do desempenho das cotas sociais no campus Belém (PA)

This research aims to evaluate comparatively the data of students of 5 undergraduate courses of the (UFRA), from 2002 to 2004, related to students from public and private schools and the period from 2005 to 2007, regarding to the quota holders and not quota students to know if there was a decrease in the academic performance of students after the adoption of quotas at the university since 2005.The study is characterized as a case study and the methodology considered the information in the Dean of Education, through the vestibular reports and SISCA.With the construction of three indicators, performance indicator on access, indicator of efficiency and Income and Losses indicator, we performed the calculations of these indicators, then the comparative tests in the statistical program BioEstat 5.0.The results founded by a quantitative analysis of information, showed no decrease in student performance after adoption of quotas in Ufra.In other words, evidence that there was no difference in the comparison of the approved by the school of origin, in Graduation Success Rate in Evasion rate, the frequency of General Income Ratio (CRG), and the retention rate for public school, there only difference in evidence in the retention rate of students from private school

The present work has the purpose to treat the right to work and the difficulties of inclusion of people with disabilities in the private companies in the city of Belém. The goal to achieve is to check the reason there is still a large contingent of people with disabilities who are outside the labor market, despite the art. 93, of law 8213, of July 24, 1991 and art. 36 of the Decree 3298, of December 20, 1999, oblige companies with over 100 employees to hire people with disabilities in the percentage 2-5%, it is necessary to know the problems that prevent the occupancy of vacancies to solve them, and promote this way, a more effective and complete inclusion. Regarding the methodological procedure, it is proposed to conduct a qualitative approach, from the execution of documentation and literature research; as well as field research, because of the required production data from questionnaires completed by 60 people with disabilities and 21 companies subject to the quota law. The research field of empirical research is the city of Belém. At the end of the work, identifies the main difficulties and possible solutions to improve the inflow of people with disabilities in the labor market. We conclude that quotas have been of great importance in the inclusion of people with disabilities, but it is necessary that companies, society and public authorities act together to promote a number of changes to ensure the right to work in a broad and dignified manner to the disabled person, because the greatest difficulties are not the disability itself.

Injúria racial e cotas: de que maneira os inquéritos policiais poderão contribuir para o debate racial acerca das cotas na UFPA?

This research focuses on the implementation of racial quota in the Federal University of Pará - UFPA, based on analysis of police investigation of racial slur, the vision of O Liberal newspaper reporters and its readers, including the judgment of the injunction order filed by the Black movement Mocambo. Such dialogues are established to understand the social representation concerning racial relations in Brazil, as the conception of the social players becomes more clearly with the historical context of the recurrent comments, whether from police investigation, the non- quota students, or the competent authorities. To achieve this, the literature search was based on Thompson (2001), Chalhoub (1990; 2001), Dworkin (2005), among others, as well as the use of document sources (current legislation, news releases and newspapers Beira do Rio and O Liberal). After analyzing the contents, it was found that color is used to demarcate the inequality map between White and Black people, under possible conflicting situations. Besides, the debate on quotas must not be polarized, because it provokes the worsening of positions and minimization of factors equally important in the educational context. Although quotas alone do not solve the racial problem and the presence of Black students in the university, on the other hand they contribute for the democratization of higher education.
