Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação da distribuição espacial da malária e da leishmaniose tegumentar no município de Tomé-Açu/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-12) NUNES, Raquel Soares Casaes; CASAES, Roberta SoaresThe municipality of Tomé-Açu/PA has development geared to wards agriculture, but as a result of deforestation and the city's growth, the population has become susceptible to contact with vectors of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (IPDs). Due to insufficient information on the spatial distribution of the occurrence of DIPs in the mesoregion of northeastern Pará and the possibility of new information that contributes to the environmental management of municipalities, this work seeks to map the spatial distribution of 2008 and 2018 on the cases registered in the municipality. It is, therefore, a quantitative and qualitative research that correlates the Cutaneous Leishmaniasis and Malaria IPDs with deforestation. The data were obtained from the municipality's health secretary to obtain the places where the diseases occurred. After the data import procedure, the Kernel Density estimator and the Global Moran Index were applied to generate maps for 2008 and 2018 that show the different densities of the phenomena and the areas of greatest epidemiological risk, where the use and occupation of the are predominant factors for the epidemic of IPDs in the region due to human occupation in the vicinity of newly deforested areas. According to the numbers of registered cases, Cutaneous Leishmania is was the disease with the highest incidence in the years 2008 and 2018. However, Malaria predominated in the rural area in 2008. It is concluded that the methodology used can contribuited the understanding from where surveillance and control actions for the population's health could be intensified.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Impactos das mudanças climáticas e do desflorestamento sobre a flora arbórea da Amazônia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-11-30) GOMES, Vitor Hugo Freitas; STEGGE, Hans ter; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7778964226916459; VIEIRA, Ima Célia Guimarães; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3761418169454490Amazonia has an incredible biodiversity, shaped over millions of years. In recent millennia the climate in the region has become more humid, increasing the availability of suitable habitat for forest species and influencing its distributions and the expansion of the forest in this period. However, human influences on climate and land use have led to a reduction in the habitat of many species in the region, and projections show an intensification in the future with impacts potentially negative on the richness and distribution of Amazonian biodiversity. In addition, there are several knowledge gaps on how climate and land use has shaped and will shape the Amazonian rainforest, and the wide variety of methods available for such analysis also raises questions on the best methodological practices for studying an area as large and diverse as Amazonia. Understanding the origin, maintenance and loss of biodiversity has a profound importance for future human life. This thesis addresses some of the knowledge gaps on these topics, comparing methods of estimating richness and distribution of species of the Amazonian rainforest at different time scales. This study is an interdisciplinary research that relates aspects of different scientific areas to understanding the consequences of the two main threats to Amazonian biodiversity attributed to climate change and deforestation. The study was supported by a cooperation between the Naturalis Biodiversity Center – The Netherlands and Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi – MPEG on a Sandwich Doctorate Scholarship – SWE (CNPq Prossess 203102/2015-0). Furthermore, the study is part of the INCT project Biodiversidade e Uso da Terra na Amazônia (Biodiversity and Land Use in Amazonia) (CNPq Prossess 574008/2008-0), coordinated by MPEG, which is dedicated to the study of biodiversity and Amazonian landscape, aiming to understand environmental and social consequences of different land uses, providing scientific bases for sustainable economic practices and support for public policies for Amazonia.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A ocorrência de malária em quatro municípios do estado do Pará, de 1988 a 2005, e sua relação com o desmatamento(Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia, 2012-03) PARENTE, Andressa Tavares; SOUZA, Everaldo Barreiros de; RIBEIRO, João Batista MirandaThe purpose of this paper is to study occurrence of malaria in four different regions of the state of Pará and its possible relationships with deforestation rates. A retrospective study using secondary data from 1988 to 2005, using malaria incidence records reported in four cities in the state (Anajás, Itaituba, Santana do Araguaia and Viseu), as well as deforestation rates provided by the PRODES-INPE. The quantiles method was applied to establish five categories or classes of malaria incidence for each city, and a state IPA was generated with the contributions of these cities. From 1988 to 1994, the curves of incidence of malaria follow deforestation rates. From 1995, there are consecutive years of high incidence levels after years of high deforestation rates, as registered in 1995, 2000 and 2004. It was noticed that after periods of intense deforestation the occurrence of malaria presented an incidence pattern between high and very high, suggesting that deforestation may be a factor in maintaining and increasing the number of cases in the state of Pará.
