Maritime communications are still strongly carried out by means of conventional radio circuits via terrestrial waves using MF to VHF bands, mainly after the introduction of systematization of digital selective callings. However, a large number of the operational procedures on radio communications still rely on operator interventions, thus reducing their effectiveness and giving origin to errors such as false distress callings broadcasts. These errors have been frequent and have drawn attention from the actual distress situations implying in loss of time in subjects related to search and rescue at sea, affecting seriously the reliability of the process of terrestrial communications. Thus this research proposes systematizations to control the broadcasts of false distress alarms in terrestrial wave transmissions, and to improve the usual process of transmission of callings. The distress calls received by the coast stations are identified by them according to broadcasting stations which issued the messages, aiming to support corrective action by competent authorities, to avoid recurrence. In addition, higher level of automation is proposed for the processes of calls, reducing the reliance on manual procedures, and thus the chances of mistaken broadcasts, and better explore the concept of selective calls of the current system. These propositions provide greater efficiency and reliability for terrestrial communications, especially useful in emergency situations, without adding significant operational demands on stations, encouraging and improving the conditions for communications on MMS by terrestrial waves.
