Arquitetura residencial eclética em Belém do Pará (1870-1912): Um estudo da gramática das fachadas
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-08-30) FARIA, Maria Beatriz Maneschy; MIRANDA, Cybelle Salvador; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3254198738703536
In this research we studied the compositional grammar from the facade of the eclectic residential architecture of Belem, on the formal aspects of its elements, through relations of symmetry, rhythm, proportions, layout, dimensions and use of colors in each of its parts. The study is restricted to the type of residential basement and a deck in specimens without definite authorship. The research also considers the importance of facades in construction of collective identity, based on a sense of belonging in the community. Therefore, using the ethnographic method in the apprehension of memory, since the interventions historic preservation often disregards the need to address the conflict between the old (original stylistic features of the building) and the new (current needs or preferences ), an old dilemma between permanence and change. To conduct the analysis, we created three categories of facades: pure classicist facades, classical facades with eclectic elements and eclectic facades. By considering the facade classicist pure source eclectic facade, it was preferred to the polychromatic geometric and analyzes a) Comparative analysis over time of iconographic images of the search, b) compositional analysis of the relationships proportions, dimensions and arrangements of façade elements based on proportionality golden c) Visual observation of chromatic patterns found from prospecting pictorial. From this study it was possible to say that the pure classicist facades have a limited vocabulary in the composition of its grammar, with well defined rules, but the projects in its origin, do not obey the compositional principles learned, which leads us to conclude that based on imitation of other works, possibly without relying on the guidance of professional architecture. As the ratio of chromatic ranges between the various elements of the composition of their facades, we identify the existence of a principle chromatic. We believe that the model is not found chromatic complex and not contrasts, but nuances of tone, used with meanings. This study contributes to the understanding of the eclectic civil architecture of Belem.

The system of external cladding of the building acts as a protective layer and contributes to the proper aspect. The facade is subject to the action of agents of degradation as one of the most exposed areas of the building, with the presence of pathology becoming responsible for high repair costs. Research suggests as a general goal, assess conditions affecting building facades of higher education in the Federal University of Pará, guided by a theoretical basis (literature review) responsible for the first information on the subject. To such as research methodology, we sought to first do a physical survey of facades of 30 buildings in UFPA, identifying cadastral records in the main degradation mechanisms. Then, after quantify / qualify the anomalies present in the sample and point out the most critical building with key injuries and their causes, listed up to this, basic intervention measures in order to solve efficiently the problem caused by proposing a document that acts as technical support for inspection of facades generally. We also used the test to characterize samples in order to prove the origins of those damages which at first could not identify the cause. The results showed that the analyzed buildings have pathological damage of different nature and degree of complexity, ranging from the most complex requiring specific tests to discover their origin, even the most simple, with scheduled maintenance can be eliminated. We conclude that much of the damage happen by human negligence, but that even with an emphasis on quality of execution in facades, there is no way rule out failures or ignore the time of use and the actions of external factors lead to degradation Nature of the building. We conclude that much of the damage happen by human negligence, but that even with an emphasis on quality of execution in facades, there is no way to reject the hypothesis failures or ignore the time of use and the actions of external factors lead to natural degradation of the building. Therefore, to prevent the early onset of pathologies in facades, bringing its useful life and reducing extra costs, it is suggested, implementation procedures based on technical standards enforcement of them, following project criteria and presenting periodic inspections so that preventive measures are taken in apt time.

This work is result of a research developed by the Laboratório de Memória e Patrimônio Cultural (LAMEMO), from the Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, Universidade Federal do Pará about the movement of non-classical architecture present in the State of Pará in the mid-twentieth century, who lent modernism elements to compose what is known today as "Raio que o parta" (RQP), contemplating his historiographical analysis from previous studies on the subject and the characterization of these types on the facades of three residential neighborhoods: Cidade Velha, Umarizal and Telégrafo. In all these three sites, one can see a considerable amount of copies, though each one presents a different context. In Cidade Velha, houses with these characteristics are common, which is a curious fact because it is an area where eclectic buildings toppled by organs of national heritage dominate the landscape. In Umarizal, although sensitive changes to their social and real state speculation over its history, it has great number of houses, but also high erasure rate. The number of copies and the popular characterization on the facades also justify the choice for the third cut, the neighborhood of the Telégrafo, where we find the most architectural renewal rate which has deactivated the RQP lines. Using tools such as street ethnography and semiotic analysis of facades, we identified 90 RQP homes in those neighborhoods, taking into account the relationship of the resident / owner with them, regarding to conditions for its removal / erasure, and aspects such as house modernization desires or judgment of changing value, identified by Riegl (2006).
