(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-08-29) SILVA, Eliane Raíssa Ribeiro; SABLAYROLLES, Maria das Graças Pires; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0250972497887101
The formation of urban neighborhoods in the area of Santarem is based on agricultural production, and this determines the socio-territorial reorganization of the city, causing it to present contradictions, and despite being "inside" of what is considered urban, are visible in this area habits and customs remain rural and agricultural production discussed here as urban agriculture. To identify and characterize the different activities of urban agriculture observed in Santarém / Pará (2 ° 24 '52 "S and 54 º 42' 36" W), to assess the importance and contribution of the same for food and income for families of farmers to develop, this study was conducted. Data collection was through home visits to farmers in the period May / June and September / October 2010, priority was intentional samples using the technique of "snowball". Structured interviews were conducted semi-structured interviews with 56 urban farmers, and their areas of production were driven method of guided tours, during which we surveyed the plant and animal species that made up and its intended use. When permitted species were also photographed. The botanical material was collected, and forwarded to herbalized IAN Herbarium of Embrapa Eastern Amazon, for identification. The contribution of urban agricultural activities for income was achieved through the use of the tools of the systemic approach of calculations and adjustments in the domestic economy from which we constructed a typology of different production systems sampled. We observed seven different activities in Santarém urban agriculture (agroforestry gardens, fish farming, cultivation of ornamental plants, nursery seedlings of forest, horticulture and mini-farm) activities are carried out in different spaces (backyards, private lots, and side avenues). We recorded the occurrence of 247 plant species grown in different areas of production and 11 animal species, cultivated and raised for different purposes of use. The creation of small animals occurred only within the gardens which has revealed to us, along with the cultivation of food crops, the feeding habits of the farmers who manage and handle. The results provide evidence that analyzed the different activities observed for urban agriculture in Santarém contribute significantly to the income of farmers, either through direct income from the sale of products produced or obtained with the indirect income to the economy arising from the production of foods that are no longer purchased by farmers. Thus we conclude that the importance of the different exercise activities on urban agriculture for farmers varies around the purpose of production and products produced, as well as contribute to the promotion of citizenship, is providing products that improve the quality of life of farm families , is absorbing family labor available, which increases self-esteem of farmers and ensure that they sustain their families in dignity.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-06-15) LEÃO, Victor Miranda; STEWARD, Angela May; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6123114287861055
Traditional Quilombola communities have strategies for maintaining their way of life and reinforcing their cultural identity through traditional productive practices. This study sought to investigate the role of agrobiodiversity in economic and food strategies, recording the traditional knowledge and practices associated with it, as well as its relationship with food sovereignty in the Quilombola community of Providência, Salvaterra, Marajó, Pará state, Brazil. Methodologically, the research took place over sixty days in the months of February, May, July and November of 2019, being authorized by local leaders and the other residents through the signing of the Informed Consent Form. Later interviews were conducted with household representatives, with selection occurring through non-probabilistic sampling. Non-directive interviews were carried out and semi-structured questionnaires were applied with questions on socioeconomic, productive and food aspects, along with participant observation. Data were organized into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for graphical optimization and, subsequently, diversity and diversity indexes were calculated, along with cultural salience and the community's food profile. Research with 11 heads of household showed that the local productive practices are strongly linked to local religious and food customs and that traditional activities, such as farming, extraction, fishing and animal husbandry, contribute to family income, which is mainly comes from state social benefits. Thus, we can conclude that traditional productive practices are directly related to the local Quilombola culture developed in part through agrobiodiversity, also expressed in faith, religiosity, historical heritage, as well as in daily life and in group's food preferences.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-03-21) NASCIMENTO, Anael Souza; BARROS, Flávio Bezerra; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4706140805254262
This research was committed to study the ways of capturing and preparing fisheries resources, as well as the relationship of the quilombola community of Mangueiras in Salvaterra - Ilha do Marajó - PA with food. I started from the cultural dimensions in the context of traditional knowledge, the ways to obtain, prepare, pack and consume food of fishery origin in the quilombo. The field research took place in 2019 and the main instruments of the methodology employed were open interviews, semi-structured interviews, participant observation, tours guided by local fishermen, free listing technique and ethnophotography. The results achieved demonstrated that fishermen and fisherwomen maintain a constant dialogue of knowledge, acquired through daily contact with fish and the river from the early stages of life. Traditional knowledge reveals much of the quilombo's identity and culture, a territory dominated by social actors with expertise in fish species, differentiating them by their habitat, food preferences and specific behaviors, including knowledge about climatic and lunar aspects that influence the dynamics of fishing in the region. Fishing resources have proved to be important for the preparation of foods such as fried, roasted and boiled fish, snail mujica, snail pie, coconut milk crab, turkey stew. However, we also observed an increase in processed foods, caused by a greater relationship with the city and access to social programs of the Brazilian federal government. Even with all the changes that have taken place, it is undeniable that the way food is prepared is still maintained today as a way of valuing culture and resistance. Thus, food choices are directly influenced by environmental characteristics, in addition to individual preferences linked to quilombo social and cultural issues. Taboos play an important role and directly influence the choices of target species.

This study intends to understand the food security and environmental issues through the analysis of agricultural practices and forest experiences of farmers, as the food production (for consumption and income) for traditional social groups in the Amazon is an important element for assuring their food assurance. This is because they use the forest and agricultural resources to maintain the family unit. This case study is based on the Sustainable Development Project (PDS) Virola Jatobá, situated in the region of Transamazônica in the municipality of Anapu, State of PA. This form of agrarian reform settlement brings up the emblematic debate connecting environmental, agricultural and forest issues with the possibility to explore legal wood through community forest management. We used the quanti-qualitative method, carrying out data collection through direct and participant observations, interviews and socioeconomic questionnaire. By using them, we could understand the social- productive transformations occurred along the life trajectory of the settlers. The research results point out practices of change on food security due to environmental rules on the traditional systems of production.

This paper presents the doctoral thesis entitled: “Spatial vulnerability in Quilombos from the implementation of the 230 Kv LT Line in Pará”. We support the thesis that the line has harmed the food security of the quilombos Santa Luzia do Bom Prazer Poacê and Itabocal Ponte, which are in a vulnerable situation along its route. We assume that the 230 kV Transmission Line (LT) was created within the scope of the 2027 Ten-Year Energy Expansion Plan, and that the quilombos of Santa Luzia do Bom Prazer Poacê and Itabocal Ponte are involved in this process, with regard to: changes in their way of life, metamorphosis of work and productive structure (farms, backyards, flour mills). The general objective of this thesis is to understand the socioeconomic vulnerability and food security of places aggravated by the 230 kV LT, Vila do Conde - Tomé-Açu C2, in the quilombola communities of Poacê and Itabocal Ponte, from 2016 to 2024. The concepts that guide the analysis of this thesis are: socioeconomic vulnerability, food security and place. From a methodological point of view, two complementary strategies were chosen: the first is the analytical methodology, in which geographic situation 1 (T-1) is the one that precedes the interferences generated by the LT; and the second is the LT as a force producing the vulnerability of places, which results in a new geographic situation 2 (T-2), in which instability occurs, a clash between the LT expansion policy and preexisting conditions, converting into changes and permanence in places. The structure of the thesis is divided into four parts: the first presents the introduction that contains the objectives, the justification, the structuring hypothesis, the operational and analytical methodology. The second addresses the theoretical-conceptual foundations. The third presents chapter 1 entitled “The preexisting organization of places”, exposing the spatial configuration of the quilombos of Santa Luzia do Bom Prazer Poacê and Itabocal Ponte before the LT. The fourth presents chapter 2 entitled “The Power Transmission Line” and demonstrates the presence of the LT as a modifier of the spatial configuration and food security of the places. The fifth presents chapter 3 “Vulnerability and food security affected”, whose intention is to highlight the effects of the presence of the LT on the quilombos studied.
