(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-01-24) PEREIRA, Edvaldo Santos; SIMÕES, Maria do Perpétuo Socorro Galvão; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0672011058049782
This dissertation is the product of an analytical study of the book of poems Batuque, of Bruno de Menezes with a focus on narratives of memory. Used as a reference, the cultural manifestations of African origin represented in the book in accordance with the theories guided under an optical connection-oriented between literary subjectivity and objectivity in history, supported on the concepts of social history proposed by Peter Burke, on the idea of culture of Terry Eagleton and cultural identity of Stuart Hall. These instruments allow observation of the African presence as an element of the composition of a cultural identity in the Amazon, in three aspects: the first, related to the lyricism, demonstrating especially in the s poems “Mãe Preta” and “Pai João”; the second directed to musicality, observed in poems like “Batuque” and “Alma e ritmo da raça” and the third concerns the religiosity, presented in poems like “Toiá Verequête” and “Oração da Cabra Preta”. These three aspects, what else arouse our attention was the religiosity, especially regarding the relationship between the sacred and the profane and the vision of good and evil, very evident in the work. The results obtained give us the idea that by reading the narrative memory of the author and its relation to the environment in which he lived, the environmental influences on the artistic creation of the poet and the production of a work focused on the cultural manifestations contribute significantly, for better understanding of the black people, present in the Brazilian culture.

Caboclos na Amazônia: a identidade na diferença
    (2006) RODRIGUES, Carmem Izabel
This work aims at discussing issues related to essentialness and reification, which are found in identity construction processes, as well as in current worldwide cultural differences claims, particularly the identity (or non-identity) of the Amazonian caboclo. Can we talk about a caboclo identity? If caboclo is not an ethnic category, in the strict sense of the term, then it is in the game of difference that it is constructed, as well as other anthropologic subjects/objects.

This Master’s Thesis is entitled Songs for the sake of the show: genres, identities and power relations in carimbó and brega, and it aims to analyze the meanings on cultural identities portrayed in carimbó and brega, two music genres promoted to the global market as authentic productions from the Pará state, northern Brazil. Our starting point for this work is the notion of communicative nature (MARTÍN-BARBERO, 2001) and the traits of communication process (FRANÇA. 2001) presented both by the carimbó and the brega. These notions help identify discursive strategies (CERTEAU, 2012) activated in the communication configuration of these music genres (JANOTTI JÚNIOR, 2006), so we are able to discuss meanings on cultural identities (HALL, 2011) based on these strategies. For that purpose, we use a) discourse analysis, and b) iconography and iconology, two research methods from the field of History of Art that provide the tools to work the discursive characteristics of the carimbó and the brega. The communication configuration of both genres is crossed by asymmetric relations of corporative, cultural and political power and foreshadows discursive strategies for the domestication of meanings on identities. These domesticated meanings, in their turn, are preferred in detriment of cultural hybridizations capable to stand as threat to the visibility of artists, producers, businessmen and politicians in a global market used to the consumption of regionalisms (HALL, 2011).

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2009) DIAS JÚNIOR, José do Espírito Santo; PETIT PEÑARROCHA, Pedro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5274413688512181
This dissertation deals with popular culture in the neighborhood of Guamá in Belém of Pará, on the premise that some cultural expressions in the district strengthen the relationship between the identification of such “cultural producers” and the area of xperience. The production of boi bumbá will be as used parameter to make a panel of popular customs and traditional practices in the outskirts of Belém. The logic of organization, the relationship with other cultural experiences, such as carnival, religious festivals and the meanings assigned by their cultural producers are treated as points in the constitution of the cultural identity of the residents of the neighborhood of Guamá in the second half of the twentieth century.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2008-05-16) VIEIRA, Sônia Cristina de Albuquerque; MAUÉS, Raymundo Heraldo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0915136632611666; MOTTA-MAUÉS, Maria Angélica; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7861116876230464
This is a study that focuses on a feast in honor of Saint Benedict in Ananindeua- PA, a ritual conducted by the immigrants of the city of Bragança in the rural part of the same state, where the traditional Saint Benedict feast takes place since 200 years ago: During the and during the last 23 years, these immigrants have been extending this feast to Ananindeua city which belongs to the metropolitan region of the state’s capital, Belém. This happens in a replica of what takes place at the Bragança feast , celebrating what would be interpreted as “bragantinidade” or the symbolic elements selected to represent the belongings of the natives of Bragança city, with particular manner of making them, expressed in this “condition” of Bragantin. It is expected to go around the feast, which involves the elements that mark this celebrated identity.

The article discusses the use of symbolic references from memoirs and periodicals attributed to the socio-spatial context of orchestral and sonoros balls in Belém, in the so-called ‘social clubs’ and ‘suburban clubs.’ The various forms of organizing dancing festivities in the city were connected to musical broadcasting on the radio in the 1950s, as well as being linked to the commercial sonoros or those specialized in dances. Different ways of using and accessing the means of communication by the urban inhabitants were looked after, especially focusing on the emphasis on social distinction in the local press. Symbols and values related to urban space emerge in newspapers and memoirs regarding the festive panorama of the city.

The research seeks to understand the formation of the cultural identity of elementary school children in light of the municipal curriculum guidelines of Ananindeua. A qualitative approach was used, involving documents and descriptive representations of children in the 4th and 5th years of morning and afternoon classes at an elementary school in the municipality. The results indicate that the municipality's curriculum document created macro areas, including Multiculturalism, now called Cultural Identity involving citizenship and civics. In practice, it is necessary to rethink educational approaches, considering the fundamental role they play in the identity and cultural formation of children, in order to better promote the appreciation of diversity as an integral part of this cultural identity process of children in the school environment, as it reflects on various concepts of Amazonian education and daily life in the globalized world. The Amazonian cultural plurality, present in everyday school life, must ratify cultural diversity as a fundamental trait in the construction of children's identities, defined and negotiated in the field of conflicts and the infinite possibilities of singularization in the municipal school environment of Ananindeua.

This article considers the popular resistance on the street markets and public harbors in the Estrada Nova of Belém. It interprets the occupation of the southern waterfront of Belém, analyzed in terms of the social production of urban space. The popular resistance strives to keep the public harbors, Porto da Palha and Porto do Açai, as places of multiple economic and cultural exchanges, against the municipality’s intention of gentrifying the waterfront and removing its current users through the project called Portal da Amazônia. The resistance of small traders, workers, and residents opposes the metaphor ‘windows on the river,’ which represents a one-sided exclusive approach, with another metaphor, that of ‘gateways to the river,’ which has to do with the necessity of coming and going of riverine people, who demand their right to the city. The movement of people and goods at the harbors and the surroundings creates a setting of popular economy and life in Belém. This movement gives identity to the neighborhoods of Jurunas, Condor, and Guamá and agrees with the urbanistic requirements of Jane Jacobs and Marshall Berman, who value everyday life in the streets. In spite of grassroots resistance, the project goes ahead in an obscure way, without any consideration for dialogue or transparency.

Gilberto Freyre entre o frevo e o samba no carnaval do Recife
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-11) MENEZES NETO, Hugo
Recife's carnival has always been of interest to Gilberto Freyre, who worried particularly about the influence of the rhythm and the practices of Rio de Janeiro's festivity on that of Recife. This article examines this theme by relating it to Freyre's ideas about the formation of Brazilian society. It considers the sociological critique of Freyre's important works in order to analyze how the author locates representations of Recife and Rio de Janeiro in opposite poles of the pair tradition and modernity. The relationship between frevo and samba provides a new perspective to Freyre's recurrent and significant discussions on the themes of 'adaptation', 'transregional influences' and 'balance of opposites'.

This study aims at interpreting the different musical routes taken by the Music Course students of the Universidade do Estado do Para- UEPA. The ethnographic work allowed me to observe three profiles which stand out in the Course: the erudite musician, the gospel musician and the popular musician. From the categories cultural identity, musical identity, diversity and carrier, I sought to understand how these musical identities interact and compound the singularity of a Course whose purpose is to form musical educators. The study is presented in three parts: the first one deals with the dense description of the Music Course, the students, the professor/researcher and the role the disciplines Cultura Popular and Música e Sociedade - taught by me- played considering the elaboration of the problem. The second part begins with a theoretical approach related to the construction of socialization networks among musicians and it also describes the profile of each group, the erudite, the gospel and the popular, according to the way they present themselves in the researched context. The interaction between these three groups is the object of the third part. From the perspective of musical diversity – musical preference and identities and cultural diversity – I point out the identities.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-06) BOLOGNIN, Renan Augusto Ferreira; ROCHA, Rejane Cristina
This paper focus on the way that the novel´s structures Dois Irmãos, of Milton Hatoum, work in a recollection utilization and shows up the cultural identities knocking together. The narrator–character, Nael, invite us to a past didn´t known for him, but that had been told it to him by other characters. This creates a fragmentary differentiation not just between narration past and narrative present, but also the occupied position for the characters in center or on the fringe of the Brazilian society. For studying these memories as narrative structures, we based our work on the Discurso da Narrativa (1995), of Gérard Genette. For its part, we discuss narrative order fragmentation for these memories related to the identity fragmentation. For that, we supported ourselves on A identidade cultural na pósmodernidade, of Stuart Hall (2006).

The present dissertation treats about the intellectuals's acting (poets, journalists, militants, students, folklorists, anthropologists) and popular artists in the formation of the called “MPB”, Popular Brazilian Music, in the state of Pará. Between middles of the decade of 1960 and of 1970, intellectual sectors of the middle class from Pará initiated a great mobilization into the sense of updating the popular music produced in Belém to the political and esthetic discussions that the MPB was carrying out in the remainder of the country. Festivals were carried out, groups of poetry and music appeared, political actings were mixed by bohemian postures and great artistic activity. The new intellect was looking at the same time to do a modern music ruled, but based on elements of the popular culture from Pará or amazônida. Amid new artists that became from these sectors of the society, a revision of the memory of the popular music was done and ancient names were incorporated to one tradition. At the same time, the carimbó, which up to that time was limited to the cities and communities from the country, appears in Belém like a musical explosion and becomes a music consumed by the radios, TVs and the industry of the disc. The urbanization of this type of regional folklore leads to a spacious discussion about authenticity, market and cultural identity of the Amazonian region and of the Pará individually. In this process, artists of popular extracts enter on the stage giving their contribution to the popular musician of the North. The spacious discussion in the newspapers about the carimbó (his authenticity or his degeneration in front of the market) adds up the actings of the intellectual young people. In this complex context of multiple actings, appears a kind of MPB with regional forms.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-08-09) BAENA, Talita Cristina Araujo; AMARAL FILHO, Otacílio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2605877670235703
There are times mankind has experienced a long process of social mediatization, intensified by the advent of the playing techniques of art and culture. This process, in contemporary times, enabled the transformation of real experience in the music-historical experience media. In this context, culture and business merge and globalize, restructuring each other. In Paraense Amazon, the complexity and possibilities of this media experience of music has led the region to another wave of adjustments to global contexts. The dissertation deals of communication processes and cultural identity through materiality of two phenomena of contemporary music experience perceived in Paraense Amazon: the dissemination of music project - Terruá Para - and thrash metal band Antcorpus. The analysis started from the reflection that the communication can be understood as a hermeneutic of existence, crossed by a mediatical ambiance. Among the observations recorded, stood out because of its importance: the social mediatization through technological interactions, namely, tecnointeractions that vectorize appropriation, and incorporation of musical expressions, both groups of young as professionals related to local cultural industries. To vectorize these processes through mediatical images of musical experiences, the tecnointeractions exhibit sound experiences of the town, which in some cases suffered metonymic processes that evidence a standard system of feeling, which here is called aesthesis policy.

The pedagogy course of CUBT/UFPA, brings in its political-pedagogical project the dinamics organaized according to the structure of the pedagogy course from Guamá/UFPA, priorizing in its context the urbun reality, as its is right outlines the curricular drawing of the course, while guarantee the discussion of the country side education only in its elective nucleus.
