(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2007) ANDRADE, Ercio Oliveira; GONÇALVES, Tadeu Oliver; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6789250569319668
The objective of this research is to understand how the teachers of the Islands of Belém consist as teachers throughout a trajectory of professional formation in the partner-cultural conditions of this region with prominence to its mathematics knowledge. It is about teachers located in schools of five Islands managed by Belem City Hall and Para government Pará. Once diversified forms of knowledge are involved, we theoretically base our research in the authors: Tardif, Lorenzato, Fiorentini e Lorenzato, Imbernón, Smole e Diniz, Charlot, Zabala e Perrenoud. The methodology is based on the researcher’s participant observation (also called Ethnographic) and in the qualitative analysis of the obtained information. The research is based on the inquiry that searched to understand how the teachers in Island of Belém had formed with registered data: in the historical-cultural identification of the islands, of the respective schools, through interviews with the respective teachers, through data obtained in classroom through the mathematics course for initial series for teachers of the island, photos, videos and sound recording. The research shows that the teachers of initial series deal with mathematical concepts in classroom, thus they teach mathematics. It evidences the challenges and the necessity of a deeper knowledge of these concepts, as well as the perseverance before the difficulties found in the search of continued formation and also in the development of the teacher’s practice. The analysis shows that these teachers elaborate and elaborate again their knowledge through the development of their professional practice and also it identifies the search for knowledge by these teachers.

Contribuição ao conhecimento da fauna anofélica antropofílica da Praia da Saudade na Ilha de Cotijuba - Belém - Pará: uma área endêmica da malária
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2004-04-11) GUIMARÃES, Delma Gomes; MASCARENHAS, Bento Melo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3279744837272788
In spite of its localization near the city of Belém, Pará, Cotijuba Island has been the site of outbreaks of malaria during recent years, especially in the months of April and May. The island is part of an archipelago at the southern margin of Marajó Bay, located 29 km from Belém, as an island portion of the municipality of Belém. The island has a total area of about 60 km² and 20 km of beaches that correspond to about 66% of the total area. Because of the epidemic, it tias become necessary to identify the anopheline species that are the malaria vectors on the island. From 2002 to 2004 periodic collections were made of mosquito larvae and adults, and their breeding sites were located and characterized. Larvae were collected with dippers, while adults were collected manually in individual tubes from human volunteers. Two collections were made of adults in forested areas, one collection during the dry season and the other during the rainy season. Each collection was made during a continuous 24 hour period. Six bi-monthly collections were made near residents' houses, each lasting 6 hours. Both in the forest and near houses, only two species of anophelines were found to bite people, Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) aquasalis and Anopheles (Anopheles) intennedius. A. aquasalis was more common near houses, whereas A. intermedius was more common in the forest. Most of the island's malaria cases were found to occur two months after the beginning of the rainy season, in the month of May. On all of Cotijuba Island there are four lakes that are possible anopheline breeding sites, and Gabriela Lake is the principal breeding site, responding for 42% of the malaria cases on the island during 2003. Climatic conditions, the resident population's behavior and housing, and the lack of resources for effective vector control, among other factors, favor the continual presence of malaria on Cotijuba Island.

Surveys of Amazonian bats have recorded the occurrence of at least 135 regional species of different feeding habits- insectivorous, frugivorous, polinivorous, carnivorous and hematophagous. Bats contribute to the balance of the Amazonian biota in different ways; e.g. population control of insects, dispersion of seeds and polinization. Flematophaguous bats are potentially dangerous to humans because were they can carry the rabies vírus. The objectives of the present study were: (a) inventory of the bat species of Cotijuba island - PA; (b) descriptions of the activity period, feeding habits, reproduction and roosting sites of the different species; (c) rabies diagnosis of the hematophagous bats coliected. Thirty-one species were recorded, two of which lack more detailed taxonomic studies for diagnosis. Most of the species are frugivorous (for example, Carollia spp., Artibeus spp., Uroderrna spp.), i.e. potential seed dispersers of the local flora. Two hematophagous species were observed: Desmodus rotundus (about 8% of the sample) and Diaemus youngi (less than 1% of the sample). The rabies vírus was not recorded, but there are records of attacks by bats on humans and domestic animals, demanding continuous analyses of new samples, for effective health care monitoring.

O lugar e a comunidade na Ilha de Cotijuba - PA
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010) MELO, Odimar do Carmo; ROCHA, Gilberto de Miranda; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2436176783315749
This work search to analyze as the daily socioeconomic activities they grow in the extent of the lived space and of the use given to the territory by the islanders, aiming at to identify the social interrelations developed inside the Island of Cotijuba and to understand like them influences in the construction and in the reconstruction of the place. So that such analysis takes place in a satisfactory way took place a bibliographical research on the place concept and community, debate done by geographers and sociologists. In this work it intends to use the place concept proposed by Carlos (1996), which understands that the place can simply be defined as a sub space that grows the life in all their dimensions, in other words, the place is to the base of the reproduction of the life and it can be analyzed by the triad inhabitant-identity-place. In elapsing of the analyses on Cotijuba, the historical process of occupation of the Island is discussed, since the moment in that the same was busy for in her a space to be built for the improvement of rice (area of the Farm in the community of the Potion), until his/her insert in the context of the movement cabano, when this served as military base for I exercise him/it colonial until the inauguration, the operation and the decadence of CRC (Reformatory Cologne of Cotijuba). They are also Discussed the relationships and the existent flows between the Island and the continent, before and after 1994 when it happened the implantation of the fluvial line for the municipal city hall of Belém. Fact that influenced the occupation process and settlement of the Island, process that it is intimately relating with the history of Cotijuba, significantly and above all, with the territory reconfiguration of the place, in other words, with the construction of the place in the Island of Cotijuba for the islanders. During the research it was made an effort in the sense of to describe and to analyze the existent infrastructure in the Island. Infrastructure produced by local actors, publics and private, actors that influence in the dynamics of the islanders' life, in other words, they influence in the habits and the individuals' daily habits, in the interrelations among the same ones inside of the community group and of these with the nature. Already in his/her final phase this research has the intention of analyzing the form of the communities' organization that you/they act at the Island, taking into account the use given to the territory by such actors and also their unfoldings in the natural resources. Considering the exposed here, he/she understands each other that main objective of this work consists in doing a study that takes into account an analysis about the community and the construction of the place in the Island of Cotijuba, looking for to understand as the activities, representations and this community's daily interrelations can be understood as condition for the construction of the place.

Ocorrência, biologia e uso das raias de água doce na Baía de Marajó (Pará, Brasil), com ênfase na biologia de Plesiotrygon iwamae (Chondrichthyes : Potamotrygonidae)
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2001-06-29) CHARVET-ALMEIDA, Patricia; BARTHEM, Ronaldo Borges; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4192105831997326
The present study included stingrays of the Potamotrygonidae family, the only one among elasmobranches that possesses ali representatives exclusively in freshwater. It was carried out in the Islands of Cotijuba and Colares, which are located in the estuarine region of the Marajó Bay, during the rnonths of May, August, October and December of 2000. The sampling included the genera Plesiotrygon, Potamottygon, Paratrygon and a fourth genus that is currently being described. Information related to the frequency of occurrence and biomass indicated the predominance of Potamottygon spp. and Plesiotrygon iwamae in this region. The fishery equipment used selected the size of the stingrays captured. Specific observations were made concerning the feeding and reproductive biology of the species P. iwamae. Stomach content analysis, using the index of relative importance (TRT), indicated that this species feeds mainly on crustaceans and fish. Macroscopic observations of the reproductive organs of males and females were made. The results indicated that this species presents aplacental matrotrophic viviparity with trophonemata. Probably its reproductive cycle is seasonal, is related to salinity changes and several females are captured as they approach the beaches of this bay to reproduce. In this region the freshwater stingrays are routinely captured mainly for food, medicinal and ornamental purposes_ A high number of stingray accidents and treatments were observed in both islands. The conservation of the species of freshwater stingrays requires more knowledge about their biology, follow-ups on their exploration and perhaps management measures.

This work analyses the possibilities of transformation a proposal of Mathematic Education based on projects investigation that promotes transdisciplinaridade and the students participation on the teaching /learning process. It brings to the development of the reflexive and critical competence for the integral education of students from grade school which are riverain, these competences, according to Skovsmose (2004) and Mora (2005) are necessary for the citizen‟s participation in our society. Based on Santos (2010) and others, I analyze the crisis on dominant paradigm in the sciences, and its unfolding in the education process and also its consequences on life of the traditional culture as the riverain. As theory base on Ethomathematic, mainly on Ubiratan D‟Ambrosio (2005; 2012), Gelsa Knijnik (2001) and Alan Bishop (1999) works, it also stablishes a dialogue with Critic Mathematic Education, it has as a reference the searches of Ole Skovsmose (2000; 2004; 2006) and David Mora (2005), on search of connections and mutual articulations which propitiate the education work with riverain population. At “Poção” community on Cotijuba Island specifically at Escola Pedra Branca ( Grade School, only for initial series) where I restored the empiric part of this search. For this work, I dealt with 19 (nineteen) students of that level of studies, 07 (seven) parents/students responsible and the school teacher. For the Methodology, I utilized two different and complement moments: the first one consists on approximation of the searcher to the riverain cultural universal of “Poção” community, it happened on three articulated stages: the observation, the interpersonal dialogues with the inhabitant of the community and the searcher participation on activities which it is being observed riverain‟s social practices. The second moment is more pedagogical. It is about the development with the students and their teacher using four settings for investigation of social economic and cultural activities from “Poção” community: naval carpentry, fishery handicraft, the collect and commercialization of fruit, the plantation of small country and vegetable-garden, all of those strategies were used to dialogue with cultural knowing/doing of the riverain and about the forms of used measures on the community and their relations with the studied measure on that level of studying of Mathematic school. From the analyses “settings of investigation” on (SKOVSMOSE, 2000), I made clear that the investigative projects of “transdisciplinar” character enable the students respect as subjects which produces knowledge, having as consequence the students active participation on their process of learning, and also, they give the visibility, on the course, the knowledge of tradition “putting them on interlocution with knowledge legitimated in our society with the scientific knowledge” (KNIJNIK, 2001, p. 25), establishing useful relation and mutual articulations between the mathematic knowledge and the riverain knowledge at “Poção” community from Cotijuba.

Qualidade das águas subterrâneas rasas na Ilha de Cotijuba – Belém / PA
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-02-17) HANNA, Leila Maria Miranda; ARAÚJO, Paulo Pontes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5676640849561397
The Island Cotijuba, approximately 12000 inhabitants and 60 km2, is bordered the Marajó Bay and Mamão hole. In much of the area occupied on the island, the sanitation is poor, with effluents in the soil or in cesspits, with the potential risk of contamination of groundwater, captured through shallow wells, for multiple uses, especially domestic consumption. The objective of this study was to evaluate the water quality of the water aquifer for human consumption; were analyzed temperature, pH, eletrical conductivity, turbidity, apparent color, total alkalinity, NH4+, N-NO3-, HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-, PO43-, total hardness, Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+, and total coliforms and Escherichia coli. The waters were characterized as the predominant ions and potability standards (2914/2011 / MS). Eighteen water wells were collected, with depths ranging from 4 to 33 m, held in April, August and November 2015, corresponding to the rainy season, transition and less rainy, respectively. They were measured in pH field, temperature, electrical conductivity and water level of wells. The other analyzes were performed in the laboratory of the Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA). The topographic elevation was measured for making the Preferential direction of shallow groundwater flow map, having noticed that the central part of the island, toward, is composed of ground water recharge zone and the zone southwest (SW) is discharge area. The water is chlorinated with sodium, acidic and low mineralization, with a median of electric conductivity (EC), about 47μS / cm and pH ranging from 3.7 to 5.4; the highest levels of chemical constituents occur in the SW and northeast (NE) Island. They were obtained strong positive correlation ratios between sodium and chloride, and from ammonium and pH. Some wells showed parameters outside the potability standard, with wide variation, as the color (1 to 341 uH), turbidity (0.2 to 58.3 uT), chloride (1.06 to 255.24 mg / L Cl), iron (0.01 to 10.66 mg / L Fe) and ammonium (0.01 to 9 mg / L NH4+); total coliform occur in 67% of the transition period the samples to 100% of the rainy; E. coli was reported in 20% of samples of the rainy season and 29% of less rain. The nitrate was less than 10 mg / l NO3--N, maximum 6.9 mg / L. These values are associated with the sanitation system in situ and well built without proper techniques.

Representações sociais de jovens da ilha de Cotijuba – Belém (PA) sobre o ensino médio e as relações com seus projetos de vida
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-10-14) TRINDADE, Mariléia Pereira; NASCIMENTO, Ivany Pinto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6649004854958284
This study focuses on the Social Representations (SR) of young Cotijuba Island, Belém (PA) on the secondary education and the relationships of education with their life projects. The overall objective of this research was to analyze the social representations (SR) of young secondary education students in Cotijuba on the school and the relationships of education with their life projects. The specific objectives were: to characterize the sociocultural profile of the young subjects of the research; to identify the anchors and objectifications constitute the SR young people about the secondary education; to know the life projects of youth; to indicate the relationships between school and life projects of young people. The Theory of Social Representations underlies this study, whose testing procedures used from this theory were the objectification and anchoring to characterize the SR. The locus of research was the State School of Elementary and Secondary Education Prof. Marta da Conceição, located on the island of Cotijuba, Belém (PA). The subjects of this study were young students of 3rd year of secondary education of this school. Survey questionnaires were used to characterize the profile of the school and students. There was also a round of conversation with the study subjects. The discourse analysis allowed evaluating the content of the information generated from the questionnaires and the wheel of conversation to characterize the SR. The Social Representations of young islanders Cotijuba revealed that the secondary education represents an achievement for these students. On the other hand, the SR of young people indicate that the difficulties faced in the process of teaching and reduced articulation of curriculum within the context of living led to a dissociation between secondary education and life projects.
