Tese Acesso aberto (Open Access) Por um turismo decolonial: reflexões antropológicas a partir da turistificação da Ilha do Combu/Pa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-12-04) NUNES, Thainá Guedelha; FURTADO, Lourdes de Fátima Gonçalves; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1828475659148260; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5243-4607Starting from 2015, on the Combu Island, an Environmental Protection Area belonging to the insular area of Belém do Pará, a process of touristification began that took it out of its condition of relative invisibility, attracting more and more visitors. In view of this, this thesis aims to analyze this process and its main consequences. Having the island as the stage, we sought to critically reflect on tourism having been constituted under the influence of coloniality and, consequently, assimilated the notions of development and modernity. Using the debates arising from the Anthropology of Tourism, with contributions from authors who address decoloniality, the results presented are fruits of a qualitative anthropological research. This research was based on ethnography, with direct and participant observation, semi-structured interviews, online questionnaire and photographic records. Investigations were also carried out on the internet, seeking to follow on a social network profiles of establishments on the island, material for their dissemination and comments on posts about the island by profiles of newspapers in the city. The results presented here are derived not only from the research carried out during the doctoral period, but from the researches that I have carried out since 2010, which enabled me to follow the transformations that the island has been going through. Another methodological dimension was that of action research, in which counterparts of the research were established for the community. Booklets will be produced for the owners of the establishments and for the visitors, and a website about the Combu Island was created. As results, it is found that the advancement of the search for leisure in the place consolidated it as an important tourist spot in Belém, generating more visibility, local appreciation, employment and income for the population. However, it attracted the attention of outsiders who also seek to take advantage of the promising possibilities, deciding to undertake in the place, intensifying the process of touristification. A disorderly development of tourism is observed, which has been intensifying rapidly, generating the proliferation of establishments, real estate speculation, disturbance of local daily life, pollution, erosion, insecurity, emergence of artificial attractions and changes to meet external demands. It was noticed that the way the activity has been developing in recent years in the place, reflects the ontologies propagated by coloniality, in the behavior and actions of agents of the Private Sector, the public Power and visitors. However, the local population has shown its agency and highlighted its protagonism in the face of this process. Finally, we sought to bring propositions to advance in the decolonization of tourism.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) A Produção do espaço pelo e para o turismo na Área de Proteção Ambiental da Ilha do Combu (Belém- Pará)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-06-25) RODRIGUES, Ágila Flaviana Alves Chaves; TRINDADE JÚNIOR, Saint-Clair Cordeiro da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1762041788112837Based on the theories of the social production of the space of Henri Lefêbvre and of the space as social instance of Milton Santos, this work establishes reflections about the production of the tourist space in Belém, capital of the Pará state, in particular on the Environmental Protection Area of Combu Island (APA Combu), located in the southern part of the city. Environment endowed with biological and cultural diversity important for the quality of life and well-being of the groups that inhabit it, has been undergoing long and slim bureaucratic processes in order to make sustainability of the use of natural resources difficult. The main objective is to analyze the perceptions, tensions and conflicts related to the practice of tourism by the different social actors that use this fraction of space (management institution, businessmen, organized civil society, local and external visitors, old and new residents), considering the urban and regional diversity in which APA is inserted. To carry out the study, the following methodological procedures were used: a) theoretical-conceptual bibliographical review of relevant themes, theories, concepts and notions; b) a bibliographical review of a historical-geographical character and a survey of secondary data on the southern part of the island and the insular region of Belém, as well as on the public policies pertinent to the environmental and tourism; c) Photographic survey of the Combu island. and surroundings with systematic observation in the field about the interaction between city-river-várzea-forest; d) conducting individual interviews recorded with semi-structured questions with technicians, planners and representatives of the public institution, linked to the policies of planning and environmental and tourism management of the Combu island; e) analysis and systematization of the data collected in relation to the theoretical framework previously defined and revised. The results showed us that the way of conceiving space has been transforming the lives of the residents of Combu, influenced by the presence of external agents, who have different interests regarding the use of space for leisure and tourism purposes. The presence of the new actors has repercussions mainly on promotional actions and interventions carried out by the State, making the island a place conducive to the search for new economic aspirations, the construction of commercial establishments and leisure activities, inspired by the growth of tourism in the place, happens to occupy one of the center of space disputes. In this way, it is understood that local-based tourism, which goes beyond the representation of sustainable discourse, should be strengthened, so that local populations maintain control over the processes imposed on them, prevailing the right to difference and collectivity, so present in the dimension of riverine experiences.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Viver às margens do rio: identidade e pertença na ilha do Combu/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-04-28) NUNES, Thainá Guedelha; FURTADO, Lourdes de Fátima Gonçalves; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1828475659148260; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5243-4607The city of Belém, like all urban centers, is always growing and modernizing, but not every locality follows the logic of "modernity". Despite the population growth of Combu Island and its proximity to the urban area of Belém, the riverside communities remain with their everyday reality linked to environment and its natural resources, rivers and forest that is still predominant on the island, demonstrating that despite changes, inherent in any social context, their development is connected to a more harmonious relationship with the environment. Thus, this work, which is a qualitative anthropological study, based on ethnography, with field work, informal conversations and semi-structured interviews complementing the participant observation method, is about identity and belonging related to the Igarapé do Combu community riverside way of life, in Combu Island, which are developed over time, from the dynamics of this population with this place, where there is a riverine social dynamic differentiated from the neighbors living in the urban area.
