The research was carried out at the Federal Institute of Pará, Belém campus, with students from the 3rd year of integrated technical courses in mechanics and sanitation. We made use of the quantitative-qualitative research that after a workshop class, which pointed out some relevant methods to be considered in the interpretation of historical images, students were able to make their own interpretations from images chosen by them, elaborating, at the end of this work, narratives that were used as parameters to assess students' historical awareness. It was found that most of the participating students had the traditional level of historical awareness and that this fact is directly related to the incipient historical knowledge that some of the students had. We point out the need to expand the students' levels of historical awareness to critical and genetic types from a more significant teaching of history, related to their practical life and that they participate in the construction of this knowledge through working with historical sources in the classroom. class, being the work with image sources a possible means to achieve this goal.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Nas dobras da memória oficial: cidade, imagem e história na voz de rezadeiras de Capanema-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011) SILVA, Jerônimo da Silva e; PACHECO, Agenor SarrafIn Capanema, northeastern Pará, prayer women, motivated by photographs, weave historical narratives unfolding trajectories of Northeastern migrants to the city, producing conflicting representations of daily urban life. Through sensibilities woven in symbiosis of body, voice and images, the narrators produce reading practices that allow questioning the conventional writing of local history, enshrined in mental games of hundreds of residents. This article, therefore, following the methodology of oral history and dialoguing with Cultural Studies and Anthropology of Religion scholars, when comparing the reading of official images with the interpretation given by the prayers on plots and dramas on the town, under a view "from below” and popular perspective, challenge crystallized imaginary, bringing to the writing of history other experiences and cultural landscapes, commonly placed in the folds of portraits framed by the discourse of hegemonic power.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) A potência das imagens em uma miscelânea amazônica: sociabilidade e estilo de vida nos Pássaros Juninos de Belém-Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010) SILVA, Eliane Suelen Oliveira da; SILVEIRA, Flávio Leonel Abreu da; SERRA NETTO, Helio Figueiredo daThe Pássaros Juninos (Birds of june) or Bird melodrama-fantasy represent a type of musical theatre that is typical of Pará. They have elements of various theatre genres and regional manifesta¬tions as reference points, and bring to the surface sources from the African, Caucasian and indigenous cultures, which since the onset of colonisation in the region have miscigenated, resulting in what we now understand as being “Amazon culture”. This pa¬per intends to discuss the mestizo character that has engendered the circumstances of the appearance of the Pássaros Juninos, and, consequently, explain that such a manifestation evokes distinct images that converge in constructing fantastic Amazon narratives expressed in the form of sociabilities that are unique to the Pará context.
