This work presents the analysis of the benefits of dual connectivity in Long Term Evo- lution (LTE) networks, and proposes a sleep mode algorithm in order to increase even more the network efficiency. Among the sleep mode algorithms for dual connectivity in literature, none makes an approach regarding the small cells backhaul capacity for the activation decision of these small cells. The lack of an appropriate sleep mode process that takes backhaul issues into consideration can lead to network bottlenecks, greater latency and packet drops. For this reason, the algorithm highlights relevant aspects in LTE networks, and quantifies the benefits obtained not only by the use of the algorithm but also by the use of the dual connectivity itself. To accomplish this goal, several simulations were performed with the software Riverbed Mode- ler, based on 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) parameters and papers from this area. The simulation results show that lower delay levels can be achieved with the use of dual con- nectivity, and even lower results can be obtained with the use of the proposed algorithm, which also contributes to a more energy efficient usage of network resources. Furthermore, results regarding backhaul traffic in the core network and among small cells are also analyzed. The results, in general, show several advantages of dual connectivity and the proposed algorithm in LTE networks.

Estudo da interferência entre sistemas LTE e de TV digital em canal adjacente na faixa dos 700 MHz
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-06-13) MATHE, Dércio Manuel; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434
This work aims to analyze the impact of mutual interference between digital television (DTV) and Long Term Evolution (LTE) systems in adjacent channels in the 700 MHz band. During the analysis, minimum separation distances and adequate guard bands between the systems are determined to ensure their coexistence in this band. The interference impact is evaluated in a scenario where the DTV and LTE operate on channels 51 and 52 respectively. In order to obtain the results, this study was made through Monte Carlo simulations. Four classes of Digital Television were considered during the simulations: Special class, class A, class B and class C. The results show that the classes Special, A and B cause interference with the LTE, and the impact of such interference depends on the guard band and also the separation distance between the systems. Furthermore, the results also show that increasing the LTE bandwidth only has a greater impact if the LTE is the victim system. However, the coexistence of LTE and DTV systems in this band is possible once isolation distances and adequate guard bands respected.

Modelagem Neuro-Fuzzy de perdas de propagação para planejamento de redes LTE
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-05-06) NASCIMENTO, Regina de Nasaré Almeida do; CAVALCANTE, Gervásio Protásio dos Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2265948982068382
The development of mobile communication technologies is associated to the demand of services by users who are more and more using the data services than voice. And to keep up with those demands the telecommunication enterprises seek to meet with new technologies this user searching for speed and quality in the service used by mobile networks. The technology LTE (Long Term Evolution) has shown flexible features that stand out in relation to the technologies that preceded it as the GSM and UMTS and the operators to meet the goals of existing networks such as multimedia services, spectral efficiency and business for mobile broadband. The organization that developed the LTE specifications is the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partners Project) and standardized by the European Standards Institute in the area of Telecommunications ETSI (European Telecommunications Standard Institute). This dissertation was realized a study about propagation losses in outdoor environment, from models found in the literature and suitable for the propagation channel. Performance results are presented using the metrics of root mean square error and standard deviation and the graphical representation of data measured. And to helpful to understand this analysis is interesting to map the area and deploy or adapt planning tools of coverage with more accurate and efficient. The data used in this study was collected on some main roads in the Castanhal city, of Pará state, northern Brazil. The frequency of the transmitted signal used for LTE is 1.800 MHz and the method used to predict propagation loss was Neuro-Fuzzy. This system uses the techniques of Computational Intelligence that combines Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Fuzzy Logic (LF) and have demonstrated ability to solve different types of problems in various applications in different areas. And through this technique, the comparison between the results predicted by the proposed method and literature propagation models to provide an analysis by the signal characteristics in specific channels, observing the limitations and local features.
