Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Perfil epidemiológico de pacientes com leishmaniose visceral nas regiões do Brasil(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-06) PACHECO, Erilana Silva; AZEVEDO, Josiane Silva de Lima; FERREIRA, Yrlane Paes; GUERRA, Sylvia de Fátima dos Santos; GUERRA, Márcia Cristina dos SantosVisceral Leishmaniasis (VL) is an endemic disease in Brazil and can cause death in 95% of untreated cases, being considered a public health problem. The present study aimed to describe the epidemiological profile of VL in different regions of Brazil. For this, the analyzed data from the North, Northeast, South, Southeast and Midwest regions of Brazil in the period from 2014 to 2018 were collected from the Notifiable Diseases Information System, analyzing the incidence, lethality, gender, age group, schooling, confirmation criteria and case evolution using the Chi-square test, G test and simple linear regression. During the study period, there were 19,053 cases of VL in Brazil, with a higher incidence in the North and Northeast regions. Most occurrence in the age group under 14 years, low education, male, who obtained laboratory diagnosis and cure. VL cases are still recurrent in the current scenario, requiring effective actions at different levels of prevention can significantly reduce the rates of this disease in Brazil.
