Desempenho estrutural de blocos, primas, mini-paredes e paredes de alvenaria estrutural confeccionadas com blocos cerâmicos produzidos a partir da mistura de lama vermelha com argila
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-03-27) COSTA, Diogo Henrique Pereira e; MACEDO, Alcebíades Negrão; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8313864897400179
New techniques for the improvement of residues have become increasingly important in constructions, especially when it comes to the use of residue from other industries and the reduction of natural raw materials. The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of a residue from the production of metallurgical alumina known as red mud (RM), the structural performance of blocks, prisms, mini-walls and walls made of ceramic blocks with reticulated and circular cross sections, produced from the mixture of clay and RM. Experimental tests were performed corresponding to the characterization of the materials used and testing of compressive strength of units, blocks, prisms, mini-walls and walls. All materials and units met the standard requirements for their correct use in experimental tests. The results of compression tests have shown that elements of the blocks made by mixing clay and RM parameters met the standards and showed satisfactory and superior results to the components made of composite ceramic blocks with 100% clay, usually employed in constructions.

Estudo numérico-experimental da influência da alvenaria de vedação na rigidez de edifícios de concreto armado
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-10-02) NASCIMENTO, Adauto Cezar Rosa do; VELOSO, Luís Augusto Conte Mendes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9476653308517248
In the practice of engineering design, the presence of masonry infill in framed structures of reinforced concrete buildings is considered only as a infill component or partition of an ambiente, in other words, the masonry infill is considered as a non-structural purpose element. Although the masonry be treated as a non-structural component, they are connected to the structural system, therefore is expected that they exert some influence in the behavior of the structure still their stiffening effects in buildings have normally been ignored by design engineers. The focus of this research is assess the masonry infill influence in the lateral stiffness of reinforced concrete tall buildings located in Belém (PA). For this purpose, the ambient vibration of two buildings was measured with accelerometers in order to determine their natural frequency. In addition, computational models of the buildings were made to assess the influence of the infill panels using equivalent diagonal strut method and considering the infill panels as shell elements. The principal comparisons between the computational models and experimental results were based on mode of vibration and natural frequency of the buildings. Significant global stiffness of building based on experimental frequency suggest that model more realistic is the model with infill panels modelled as shell elements.

The social, cultural and political transformations that occurred in the 19th century caused different manifestations in the Brazilian press, more specifically, the religious-doctrinal orders led a fervent clash in which ideological disputes competed to establish themselves, one or the other, in society through actions that would go beyond the religious realm. In this context, the romance novel genre became popular in the journalistic environment too, and its reading practice was the target of divergent points of view between the literate figures working in the press. Thus, this study aims to analyze, comparatively, the presence of criticism of the novel in Pará's newspapers A Boa Nova (1871-1883), of Catholic nature, and O Pelicano (1872-1874), representative of the Freemasonry in Belém, Pará, in order to confirm the significant attention to reading practices, at the time, by dogmatic institutions, which are also included in the studies on the circulation and dissemination of the novel in the 19th century. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the periodicals were read, cataloged and compiled from the data referring to the main analysis, in addition to the insertion of bibliographic readings relevant to the historical period and the doctrine of each newspaper. Therefore, the work is divided into three main sections, in which in the first one we will deal with newspapers of a religious-doctrinal character in other provinces of the country, integrating them into a national movement of doctrinal period, in which fictional prose was one of the relevant subjects published in these forms. Then, the selected newspapers from Pará will be explained, in terms of their material specificities, who were their directors and what was printed in the editions, incorporating such topics to the historical context in which both newspapers were inserted. Finally, the writings referring to the prescriptions for the novel promoted in these newspapers will be analyzed, in which articles, notes and advertisements will be explained in the light of the respective editorial projects of each print, as well as contextualized according to the historical and literary aspects of the period. On the one hand, the novel, and consequently its reading, is chosen as a dangerous instrument for Catholic believers, on the other, it is valued and recommended as an instructive and moralizing reading and, according to the intentions of each newspaper, the presence of criticism and disclosure of the novels in these newspapers proves the concern of religious leaders about the reading practices of the time and the effects caused on readers, which could contribute to or alienate the public from the precepts of each institution. In this way, the research inserts in the literary studies the investigation in primary sources of religious-doctrinal nature, since they were means of propagating the 19th century fictional prose and they integrated with a set of prescriptive and critical writings about the romance novel, dealing with significant objects of study for the composition of national Literary History.
