The objective of the research is to analyze the main socio-environmental conflicts for the environment of the Environmental Protection Area (APA) of the island of Algodoal. The work comes to examine what are the main problems existing in the conservation unit that hinder the process of management and conservation of natural resources. The central question that guides the research: what socio-environmental conflicts are generated for management and the possibilities of mediations of possible impacts on the conservation unit of the island of Algodoal? The research method discussed in the chosen research was case study, for the identification of environmental conflicts in the area of environmental protection of the island of Algodoal. The theoretical framework of the research was outlined under the Literatures of socio-environmental conflicts over the conservation units (UC), conceptual approach to governance and environmental education. The search of the data the first stage composed by the bibliographical survey, consultations of documentary sources, as well as visits to the field that provided understanding of the dynamics and the process of discussion mediations of conflicts. The interviews were directed to the directors managers, technicians and manager of the environmental agency, local leaders of the Environmental Protection Area, using the technique simple observation and the interstructured interviews. The main conclusions of the study reveal the fragility and numerous cases of socio-environmental conflicts in the Environmental Protection Area. Conflicts of character were found: economic interest, use and appropriation of the territory, conflict of ecological order, political-institutional conflict. The mediations of such conflicts present in the Environmental Protection Area were suggested more practices of environmental education that contributed to the strengthening and consolidation of the management of the conservation units.

A mão e o martelo: a polícia militar e os conflitos sociais no campo paraense

This study was conducted to identify how the Military Police mediates social conflicts in Para, pointing ways that it can be a tool for reducing social inequalities, and not a mechanism for perpetuating these gaps. It is important to analyze the role of the government, that should be the radiator of social protection, but in fact, leaves the Military Police at the whim of the influence of the economic strength of large landowners, who often use violence as a way to maintain the established structures. It was observed that the Military Police acts essentially as an instrument of force, often being at the service of landowners elites who, through violence, perpetuate a segregational production system and concentrate resources. There is still a need to establish a culture of mediation that transforms the institutional reality, so that the discrediting of the Corporation is overcome, so that the Military Police can come closer to the community as a truly public service.

A mediação de conflitos no Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Pará: uma possibilidade de transformar conflitos familiares

This dissertation carried out to ponder on the possible mediation as a tool in family’s “judicialized” conflict transformation, from the experience of the Center for Conflict Mediation Court of the State of Pará. As a result, it presents a study of mediation, conciliation differentiating it from making a brief history of its regulation in Brazil, as well as intervention in its path, where they demonstrated their basic principles and techniques. It is a synthesis of the trajectory of their deployment in that Court, as well as the difficulties encountered in this journey, and still presents the results of the practice of mediation in the Nucleus in question, from January 2011 to December 2012, almost two years from the date of its implementation. The following discussion is a reflection on the possibility of mediation in the judicial context, considering the tensions that underlie the relationship between institutions and individuals, using as reference Paul Ricoeur. Finally, it follows that it is possible to indicate the transformation of family disputes through mediation judicialized, basing this conclusion on whether philosophical perspective of Martin Buber, and dialogical encounter the narratives of the subjects participants heard of this practice during the research developed to perform this work.
