The objective of this dissertation was to analise the relation between work and autonomy of women whom production contracts with dendê agroindustry are assigned by them. The empiric universe was the city of São Domingos do Capim, northeast of Pará, within 11% of production contracts were assigned by women. The used treatment was generally qualitative by a case study within interviews were done (open and half-structured) and observations. Based in working of obtain field data and posterior interviews systematization, the main results were in relation to: 1) the different reasons by these contracts were made in their names; 2) the participation in public spaces and contacts net growing. The main conclusions show that having a contract in their own name does not mean having autonomy, although changes happen with new possibilities of production and participation in public spaces. The women live different experiences, but do not contest verbally the sexual division of work or their self-autonomy.
