Discusses subject analysis as a way of representing the essence of a document, making it possible to recover it within a system, consisting of the first and most important stage of the Indexing process. However, there is a lack of methodologies in the literature in the field of Museology for the practice of subject analysis in the context of museums, an aspect that influences the adequate retrieval of information in these spaces. This problem drove this research, whose objective is to map how the processes of subject analysis occur in the cataloging of museological objects, aiming to improve the strategies of dissemination and retrieval of information in museums. As specific objectives it has: a) To carry out a theoretical study on the representation of information in museums; b) Conduct a theoretical study on subject analysis in indexing and verify the subsidies for indexing in museums; c) Identify whether the process of subject analysis in indexing occurs in the practice of cataloging museological objects, through the application of the Individual Verbal Protocol. To achieve these objectives, it employs an exploratory research with qualitative analysis of the data collected using the technique of Individual Verbal Protocol applied to nine professionals from two institutions that have great performance in the Amazon context, the Federal University of Pará and the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. . As a result, it was possible to identify that the museum professional is unaware of the subject analysis process, which leads to inconsistencies in the user's information retrieval. In this context, suggestions are made for a model of documentary reading to help professionals in the process of analyzing the subject in the museological context. It concludes that subject analysis, as the first step towards indexing, needs to be well designed through the elaboration of norms and guidelines that need to consider the information needs of the user community that use the museum institution.

Boletins do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi: institucionalização e comunicação científica na Amazônia
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-03-23) ONO, Elaynia Cristina Vicente; FREITAS, Guaciara Barbosa de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8765902485221030
The present dissertation aims to understand the relationship of the Bulletins of the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, as an element of scientific communication, in the science’s institutionalization process in the Amazon, specificaly in the city of Belém. This publication is currently dismembered in two magazines, with scopes in different areas: Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Ciências Humanas (ISSN 1981-8122) and Boletim do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi. Ciências Naturais (ISSN 1981-8114). This is a documental research, with an approach of mixed analysis and exploratory content, based on the period from 1894 to 2015. It was sought to conceive the dimension in which these journals are inserted as human and communicational enterprises, crossed by the dynamic processes that constitute a culture in order to understand also the particular processes where the local science has solidified. In order to establish this relationship, it was necessary to study the scenario where the Bulletins were consolidated, observing which actors and the internal and external influences over the Emílio Goeldi Museum, that intervened directly and indirectly in the production of them, making it possible to visualize the contexts in which the movement of the institutionalization of scientific communication was being formated. In this way, it was possible to perceive elements that allowed the creation of markers as parameter for the analysis of the temporal phases by which this historical magazine passed. The following were considered as markers: I) management and administration of the institution; II) financial conditions; III) socioeconomic and political contexts; IV) disciplinarization or systematization of knowledge; V) graphic / editorial production; VI) periodicity and circulation. So in the final analysis, it was possible to outline the paths taken by the local science in its consolidation and the role of scientific communication as basis in this process.

A epistemologia da educação museal na Amazônia paraense: um estudo sobre o programa o Museu Goeldi de portas abertas
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-06-03) QUADROS, Helena do Socorro Alves; PAIXÃO, Carlos Jorge; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5926523492011056; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4528-9907
The Doctoral Thesis The Epistemology of Museum Education in the Paraense Amazon: a study about the Goeldi Museum of Open Doors is part of the Education, Culture and Society research line of the Postgraduate Program in Education - PPGED, of the Institute of Educational Sciences - ICED of the Federal University of Pará - UFPA. The object of study is the Institutional Program The Goeldi Museum of Open Doors, managed by the Education Service of the Goeldi Museum, which has historically constituted a link between the Scientific Community and the Society. The problematic of this thesis comes from the following question: to what extent the Institutional Program The Goeldi Museum of Open Doors provides a pedagogical environment for the socialization of scientific knowledge through several formal science ventures (scientific areas) developed in MPEG to contribute for the construction of the epistemological field of Museum Education? The general objective of the Thesis is to analyze, to make explicit, the questions related to the scientific culture that go through the Goeldi Museum Open Doors program, in the sense of the composition of the field of the Epistemology of Museological Education. The path followed by the research is based on the qualitative approach of Education, with data collection procedures based on the references of bibliographic research, documentary research and field survey. The investigation took place in two phases: in the first one, questionnaires were applied in 2016 and the people surveyed were the mediators of the Program: researchers, technologists, educators and trainees of the Goeldi Museum; the professors and students of the public and private networks of the city of Belém and advisors of the Memory Point Program of the neighborhood Terra Firme. In the second phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with three selected subjects, due to their actions in the Program: a researcher from the Goeldi Museum; a representative of the monitors/mediators; a representative of the neighborhood community of Terra Firme. The text was distributed in five chapters, addressing the main themes of the object of study. The analysis of the results obtained in this research confirms the thesis that the Goeldi Museum of Open Doors effectively contributes to the composition of the Epistemological Field of Museological Education in the Paraense Amazon.

Objetos entre contextos e significados: as coleções etnográficas do Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi entre 1894 e 1905
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-07-30) COELHO, Matheus Camilo; SANJAD, Nelson Rodrigues; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9110037947248805; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6372-1185
This study aims to investigate the process of musealization of ethnographic collection placed in the Museum Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG), named Lauro Sodré (1897), Henri Coudreau (1898), Frei Gil Vilanova (1902) and Koch-Grünberg (1905). Not only centered in the collector’s protagonism but comprehending the collection processes as a polysemic practice, this research intent to comprehend its role in social and political context, interests of the museums, their scientific agenda, trajectory and conceptions of the producing communities and collectors, the collaboration and circulation networks on Amazon region.. The four collections are relevant to Curt Nimuendaju Technical Reserve Ethnographic Collection at the Goeldi Museum due to their acquisitions during a restructuring and reorganization period, and also, in a way, represent three distinct contexts of collecting indigenous artefacts in Amazon at the end of 19th century and 20th century beginning, led by a French explorer, a Dominican missionary, and a German ethnologist. Their study certainly allows us to analyse how different political and social contexts, religious, philosophical, cultural, scientific thoughts and the relationships between indigenous peoples and collectors acted in objects selection and rejection that make up the aforementioned collections.
