Tese Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aspectos de avaliação de desempenho em redes ponto a ponto e ponto multiponto baseados em modelagem Markoviana e medições(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-04-02) SOUZA, Lamartine Vilar de; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434This thesis presents a methodology for performance evaluation of broadband access networks. The performance evaluation of networks is a way to identify and analyze how certain features, such as different traffic types or forms of use, can influence the behavior of the network in focus. This way, we can predict how the network will behave in future situations. The methodology is composed of two approaches: an approach based on measurements and the other based on modeling using Markov processes. The networks analyzed cover the two basic types of access architecture: ADSL2+ (asymmetric digital subscriber line 2+) networks, which are wired networks that use twisted pair cables; FBWN (fixed broadband wireless network) networks, which are wireless networks based on IEEE 802.16 standard. The measurement approach is focused on network behaves against three situations: transmission of a generic traffic, impact of non-stationary noise in the system, and using network for the transmission of real-time multimedia traffic. The modeling approach, in its turn, is based on predicting the behavior of the network using mathematical models based on Markov processes. The results presented indicate the feasibility of applying this methodology as form of performance evaluation. The results also make possible the extension of this methodology to other types of broadband access networks such as fiber optic networks, microwave links, and VDSL/VDSL2 (Very-high-data-rate DSL) networks.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Avaliação de desempenho em programa de formação massiva utilizando técnicas de mineração de dados(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-08-28) PINHEIRO, Marcia Fontes; CARDOSO, Diego Lisboa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0507944343674734; SANTANA, Ádamo Lima de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4073088744952858With the evolution of the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in education was fostered the emergence of new methods, techniques and procedures that favor active learning, planning and management courses and support for overcoming difficulties in the educational process, be distance learning or presencial teaching. The Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) have become fundamental to the conduct of educational processes, providing the democratization of education and enabling continuing education, as well as generating large volumes of data about the learning process. Have information about the learning process is of utmost importance for educators and students, as it allows to support decision making and reflection on the methodologies applied in education, used content and student performance. In this sense, this research proposes feature selection methodology for performance evaluation Massive Training Program students using data mining techniques. The proposed methodology considers identify attributes to be used for making inferences related to student performance and correlated with social aspects through qualitative and quantitative analysis of results. This methodology was developed considering the educational context and valuing diversity in the process. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed methodology was applied case study on hybrid environment of massive learning with proprietary databases from Telecentros.BR program provided by the managers of the program. In the case study was applied to feature selection methodology for Educational Data Mining, thus classification tasks were applied using the J48 algorithms, Random Forest and Random Tree to predict student grades; grouping tasks using the K-means algorithm to find profile of students based on the VLE usage logs and Self-Organized Maps (SOM) to find quality educational features from textual qualitative assessments. The results obtained through case study demonstrated the feasibility of the methodology considering the educational context and present new performance indicators to managers of Telecentros.BR program, such as profile use of AVA, evasion indicators, student profile.Tese Acesso aberto (Open Access) Carimbó: canal de retorno com interatividade condicionada por mecanismo de sinalização contínua e provisionamento de banda orientado QoS(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006-12-15) COUTINHO, Mauro Margalho; FRANCÊS, Carlos Renato Lisboa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7458287841862567; COSTA, João Crisóstomo Weyl Albuquerque; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9622051867672434This doctoral thesis proposes a framework has controling and management the return network in Digital Television from four components: Digital Television Provider, Interactivity Terminal, Return Channel Provider, and Content Provider. Together, they interact based on a signaling mechanism that propagates QoS restrictions associated to the current interactive programming through the data carrousel system. The set of them also provide an admission control that investigates, periodically, the return channel status allowing or restricting the access according to the necessities of the interactive applications. Moreover, the system is so flexible that admit applications as in large scale as in small scale (local), thanks to the mobility of the service provider. An e-gov/e-health application was development in Xlet Java to evaluate the performance of the system. The performance analysis was proceeded using measurement and modeling techniques according to the system scale. In the last mille, some technologies of low cost and without periodically billing were tested such as wireless local area network. In large scale, the system was evaluated in different scenarios by means of simulation using the Network Simulator.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Estratégias de planejamento de Smart Grids: uma abordagem baseada em meta-heurísticas e simulação(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-05-15) SANTOS, Ederson Costa dos; CARDOSO, Diego Lisboa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0507944343674734Currently, the Electric Power System undergoes major modifications, which focus on various levels and sub-levels of the generation, transmission and distribution subsystems, all of which are based on Smart Grids logic. This concept is characterized by the inclusion of new digital technologies in the electrical system, with the purpose of bringing security, speed, monitoring, among many other benefits. For the full development of Smart Grids, a lot still needs to be done in several areas of research. In this line, this work presents simulations of a Smart Grid planning model, characterizing it from protocols, which are trends for this type of network. For this, we also analyzed an optimization method, which uses intelligent algorithms to optimize devices in a Smart Grid. The proposed solution is based on the optimized allocation of equipment in acommunication network, which uses as its physical transmission medium its own electrical wiring, Power Line Communitation technology. In this network are inserted Smart Grid applications defined through IEC 61850. Thus, with this proposed model, simulations were performed in the Network Simulator-3 discrete event software. The results show a significant decrease in the quantity of equipment, maintaining the quality levels to the applications.Tese Acesso aberto (Open Access) Método para identificação, análise e controle dos fatores de atraso de obras na gestão dos projetos de construção: um estudo baseado na metodologia multicritério construtivista de apoio à decisão (MCDA-C).(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-01-26) CARVALHO, André Brasil de; MAUÉS, Luiz Maurício Furtado; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7497951647889934The delay in works is observed globally in civil construction and affects the economy of countries, directly influencing the costs and low quality of works, the occurrence of disputes between the parties and other consequences, such as social issues related to the housing deficit, for instance. Thus, it is essential to identify the causes of work delays to minimize its consequences. In this context, the objective of this work is the elaboration of a method of identification, analysis, and control for the factors of delay of works in the management of construction projects. The research methodology included, first, a systematic review of the literature (RSL); subsequently, a survey was conducted, through questionnaires and interviews, to observe the most frequent causes of work delay, which were also evaluated for their correlations by the statistical technique of factor analysis. In this case, the results showed that the 12 main causes identified are correlated with four factors of delay of works: supply management, labor management, project management and management of weather conditions. Finally, after this first phase of the research and aiming at the development of the proposed model, the Design Science Research (DSR) method was applied in a local project management company, using as a research tool the multicriteria constructivist methodology of decision support (MCDA-C), seeking to carefully examine the decision-making process related to the delay factors observed; that were used as initial parameters in the structuring stage of the MCDA-C method. The results generated were the development and validation of the proposed method, identified as an artifact generated by the DSR, as well as the elaboration of descriptors (performance indicators) for all causes of delay evaluated. Similarly, control recommendations were obtained in the institution's performance in the factors of work delay in question, mainly regarding the management of supplies and project management that did not present satisfactory performances. In this case, it is worth mentioning the changes that occurred in the organization chart and work methodology of thecompany as actions implemented as a result of the process, carried out jointly with the decision-taker. It is concluded, therefore, that the research allowed an in-depth analysis of which issues should be prioritized in the strategies of actions aimed at minimizing the occurrence of delays in the execution of projects in civil construction and that the delay factors identified can be considered as "management deficiencies" of the enterprises.
