    The present research has as focus of analysis the school of a riverine community, and aims to analyze it while context of development of children and youth who live there, in order to understand how the characteristics of this context make possible and/or impose limits to the development of the students attended by the school. Comprising a theoretical-methodological tuned with principles of the ecological approach, this research uses the methodology of the ecological insertion. In this direction, it was evidenced the contexts that could limit or propitiate the development of the children who frequent the school. As result was synthetically pointed out, the fact that the links of the systemic net that connect the microsystem school to the mesosystem and exosystem do not have resistance enough to guarantee the development in the minimum satisfactory levels when compared with other schools in the urban centre, therefore the conditioning weight from different natures - historical, geographic, politics, legal, social, cultural, the one that the children are displayed, in this web of relationships, distant, excessively, from the standards found - without great effort, in the urban center, supposedly developed. That is, the precarious school attendance, materialized in the learning of the reading, writing and accomplishment of the basic mathematical operations as well as the descontextualized teaching of the local reality contributes for the maintenance of the way of life of that riverine community.

    A shallow aquifer which is very important for the development of the Ponta de Pedras region has been found and studied. Most of this aquifer is semiconfined, excepted in some areas where he can be considered as beeing free. In various wells drilled in the western part of the area and also near Igarapé-Vilar, the aquifer could not be detected. The maximum depth of the top of the aquifer reaches 14m. The depth of the base of the aquifer and its thickness exceeds respectively 34m and 17m in the well at Mangabeira. Its recharge is principally by means of meteoric water and the infiltration rate was estimated to be 106 to 107 m3/day/km2 for the month of February 1977. The effective porosity was estimated to be between 25% and 37% permiting the calculation of a volume of stored ground-water of 250x109 liters. The average Darcy coefficient (K) of the aquifer system is approximately 200/l/day/cm2. The studied ground water has the following physical and chemical characteristics: pH always acid, between 2,4 and 6,7; electrical conductivity between 13 and 2000 μmhos/cm, the most conductive waters being from the region of the basin of the Tijucaquara River; silica with average concentration of 10,4 mg/l; total iron with very low concentration implying soft water in most of the samples; manganese with a mean concentration of 0,15 mg/l; nitrogen and phosphorous with low concentrations. Sodium and potassium showed the best correlation with seasonal precipitation. At the end of the rainy season the ground water shows extremely low concentrations of nearly all elements. During the period of infrequent rainfall and until the beginning of the rainy season, the salinity increases in some areas and this causes the water to be non-potable. The domestic use of these waters is normally limited by the following characteristics: pH too acid; total iron much over 0,3 mg/l with a maximum of 4,0 mg/l; lack of fluorides; excess of chloride in one well but generally very low contents of most chemical elements. The use of these ground waters in agriculture may be limited in some parts of the area where the pH is less than 5; the conductivity too high during the dry season and when the sodium content reaches 83% to 97% (SAR).

    Métodos geofísicos aplicados a prospecção de água subterrânea no município de Ponta de Pedras - Ilha de Marajó - Pará

    This work was perfomed in an area of 25 km2 in Ponta de Pedras, Marajó Island. The purpose of this work was to study the geometry of the aquifers and to select favorable zones for development of ground water. Two geophysical methods were used: seismic refraction and electroresistivity. The first one was used experimentally intending to find out the possibility of its application in the area. The seismic results obtained confirm the original expectance of the existence of shallow geologic horizon at the subsurface, not able to be distinguished by the seismic method. Vertical electrical soundings and horizontal perfil resistivity were done with the electrical resistivity method. The results of the interpretation point out favorable areas in the central part of the study area and in a zone extending to the north of the prospected area. The thickness of the shallow aquifer varies between 0 and 50 m.

    This research focuses on the initial training of practicing teachers in kindergarten performed after the end of the program PROINAFNTIL in Ponta de Pedras - Marajó. The objective of the research is to identify the contributions of PROINFANTIL training Teachers bordering Ponta de Pedras, which is guided by the following question: What contributions Proinfantil Program provided the Teacher Education bordering the municipality of Ponta de Pedras - PA? The choice of the research work in the municipality of Ponta de Pedras mainly occurred because it was the county that showed administrative problems and displacement during the establishment and execution of the program PROINFANTIL. The research agenda on the qualitative approach, using data collection surveys of official documents of the Program implementation in the state of Pará and memorials of the 28 participant teachers of Ponta de Pedras, material representing the corpus of this research to therefore, analytical categories based on theoretical matriz life history will be listed after analysis of the corpus in the perspective of content analysis. The relevance of this dissertation is the unprecedented nature of the study is shaping up considering that to date , no research -level strito sensu was performed by analyzing the PROINFANTIL in Pará State , in addition to the social importance in visualizing the region of Marajó and their educational and socioeconomic problems in the context of the Amazon state of Pará.

    Rede social e papéis de gênero de casais ribeirinhos de uma comunidade amazônica

    This study describes the social network of two couples from a bordering community (Araraiana River, Municipality Ponta de Pedras, Marajó Island/Pará). Data were collected through a socio demographic inventory, a routine inventory and a field diary and analyzed by a network map. It was observed that the relation of the couples is based on economic and work alliances, company for leisure or religious activity. It has also been found that these relationships are marked by gender patterns which delimit the environments of daily activities, define the status that each one holds in the family and condition the formation of bonds in social networks.

    O SOME na comunidade de tartarugueiro em Ponta de Pedras/PA: entre o legal e o real observado

    This dissertation analyzes current processes high school implementation in Tartarugueiro community, Ponta de Pedras district, Marajó region, state of Para, which is being implemented by the State Secretariat of Pará State Education (SEDUC) through the System Modular Teaching Organization (SOME). Methodologically, the text was based on qualitative field research and bibliographical and documentary survey. Open and semi-structured interviews were conducted and observations on location at own research object community. The general conclusion reached was that in spite of the difficulties and problems for the implementation of the enrollment, the SOME is a possibility of increased schooling with entry prospects in the labor market and access to higher education, mainly due to the Maroons quota subject to the Tartarugueiro community in Ponta de Pedras, Para.
