“Em todo tempo mulher foi tapete”: a escrevivência de um corpo rebarbado sobre as relações assimétricas de gênero na Assembleia de Deus em Boa Esperança - PA

This text summarizes part of the results of the research I have been developing since 2018 and focuses on discussions regarding women's leadership in the evangelical church Assembly of God. The institution, founded in 1911, in Belém do Pará, over the years spread to other states outside the Amazon of Pará and is currently present in all Brazilian states. Starting from a colonialist bias, the church built its hierarchy on the sacralization of gender inequality, reserving subservient roles for women, especially black women, and not allowing them to ascend in the ecclesiastical hierarchy. This factor endorses the androcentric stance of the church which, in its 110 years of founding, never consecrated women to positions of ecclesiastical leadership, even though it had a woman as a pioneer in the founding of the church and a majority black female audience. Seeking to develop writing skills, as proposed by Conceição Evaristo, I defined as an “ethnographic research field” the Christian community of which I am a “deviant member”, whose headquarters are in Boa Esperança, in the rural area of the municipality of Santarém, in the west of Pará. More specifically, the work developed through dialogue between the researcher and the members of the Prayer Circle. In short, this text is about how the structures of oppression that act on women's bodies and their subjectivities operate within the church.

Estratégias discursivas e relações de poder na Imprensa de Vigia, Pará, no século XIX: O Liberal da Vigia, O Espelho e Cidade da Vigia

This research focuses on the analysis of the expansion of the press in the Amazon region during the 19th century, with a particular emphasis on the city of Vigia in Pará. The newspapers O Liberal da Vigia, O Espelho, and Cidade da Vigia serve as empirical objects for investigation. The research formulated the central problem of how these periodicals became spaces for the circulation of power relations in the city of Vigia during the 19th century, through the discursive strategies they adopted in their presentations to readers. The general objectives included identifying the discursive strategies and political and social ideals promoted by the newspapers of Vigia, analyzing the role of these periodicals in the establishment and maintenance of the press in the city, investigating the circulation of discourses in the city, and evaluating the importance of newspapers as means of communication and discursive subjects. The methodology used involved the analysis of French-oriented discourse in the periodicals, with an emphasis on identifying discursive strategies related to editorial presentation and the political and social meanings proposed by the newspapers in the 83 editions available in archives. Additionally, the research used documentary and bibliographic analysis to contextualize the period under study and the relevance of the periodicals of that time. The results revealed that the newspapers were simple, often with between two and five columns of text, with creative layout, considering resource limitations. The content of the periodicals varied, with a focus on political issues in O Liberal da Vigia and O Espelho, aligned with the Liberal Party, which emphasized education and literacy issues. Cidade da Vigia, linked to the Republican Party, presented administrative content due to the limited number of available editions, but still reflected important political stances. The discursive strategies adopted by the publications were associated with politics and religion, reflecting the relationship of the inhabitants of Vigia with Catholic issues and proposing the idea of civility that did not ignore religion as a fundamental part of the social group's identity. O Espelho used a peculiar strategy, alternating prose and verse texts to elevate political debate to the realm of ideas, while O Liberal da Vigia and Cidade da Vigia highlighted their affiliation with political parties as a means to legitimize their proposals. Although we did not find a unified defense of the press as an institution in the city, the newspapers played important roles in the circulation of political and social discourses, contributing to the consolidation of political power in the city. The results indicate the need for the preservation and study of these periodicals, highlighting their role in the history of the Amazon and Brazil. This research represents a first step for future studies on newspapers in other cities in Pará during the 19th and 20th centuries."

A expressão do poder na produção literária de Bruno de Menezes

From the perspective that the composition of literary narratives, the development of the action from power relations is frequent, the hypothesis was formulated that relationships of this nature stand out as aesthetic components of the action in these works. Although without any concerns regarding philosophical concepts, Michel Foucault’s principles on power are used as basis for this research, mainly addressed in the book Microphysics of Power. In addition, Karl Marx’s concept of the power manifested in labor relations in the production process of society will also be considered. In this sense, a relationship is established with the study of the structures that make up the social environment, through microphysics, the principle of which includes issues related to the struggle for social equality in labor, as well as to the molecular formation of society. These concepts are based on a power manifested on the most varied levels and different aspects of a social network. In these circumstances, the scope of the literary work extends with the reproduction of these relations in the narrative action, through the appropriation of this resource in the composition of its characters. To support this thesis, the works of writer Bruno de Menezes, from the state of Pará, were taken as literary object. Divided into four sections, the first addresses manifestation of power from reality to fiction; the second, forms of power manifestation as a practice of the different levels of society transposed to literary work; the third, biographical aspects of the author, with emphasis on his life trajectory, as a person who is attentive to social problems, engaged in union and cooperative movements, and who brought this experience to his work; finally, the fourth section will focus in the author’s literary works, focusing on the power relations manifested in his poetic work and in his fictional narrative.
