In this article we discuss psychoanalytical clinical work with patients from the poor class, focusing on the difficulties and deadlocks that come up when one treats patients who show subjective organizations that are very different from those originally described in psychoanalytic theory. Assuming that Ferenczi's notion of confusion of languages could be useful for thinking about problems that arise from the coexistence of different patterns of social relationships in highly excluding societies, we emphasize different dimensions of psychic suffering, with special focus on the psycho-social dimension.

Construct validity of behavioral models of anxiety: where experimental psychopathology meets ecology and evolution
(2010-06) OLIVEIRA, Caio Maximino de; BRITO, Thiago Marques de; GOUVEIA JUNIOR, Amauri
In experimental psychopathology, construct validity is usually enhanced by addressing theories from other fields in its nomological network. In the field of anxiety research, this construct is related to antipredator behavior, conserved across phylogeny in its functions and neural basis, but not necessarily on its topography. Even though the relations between behavioral models of anxiety and statements from behavioral ecology and evolutionary biology are commonly made in anxiety research, these are rarely tested, at least explicitly. However, in order to increase construct validity in experimental anxiety, testing predictions from those theories is highly desirable. This article discusses these questions, suggesting a few ways in which behavioral ecological and evolutionary hypotheses of anxiety-like behavior may be tested.

This is a psychoanalytical study in the field of Early Detection of Severe Psychopathologies. It proposes a longitudinal study through monitoring of mother-infant pairs in a public institution specialized in the care of pregnant women. The idea is to study how the fundamental bond between mother and child is established, and analyze certain signs of psychological distress within this setting. This research aims to discuss the methodological impasses that arise; to share findings; and to discuss a concept of psychological distress which is typical to this stage of life.
