Human populations interact with natural ecosystems and develop practices for the use of natural resources and from their daily experiments generate empirical knowledge. The research aimed to systematize the knowledge about the açaí ethnovarieties present in the Abaetetuba Islands PA and the management carried out by riverside dwellers in the floodplain areas with native açaizais to contribute to the dialogue between technical assistance agents and the riverside residents. In the surveyed islands, three black, white and one ethnovarieties were identified. The description of ethnovarieties was carried out based on the ethnodescriptors commonly used by riverside dwellers. The research located the origin of the genetic resources of the three ethnovarieties of açaí and this information can be used by research and technical assistance as an instrument of genetic conservation on farm. It was found that the riverside inhabitants of the main açaí producing islands in the municipality of Abaetetuba are not receiving technical assistance to carry out the management of the açaizais.

Agrobiodiversidade e as relações de trocas entre agricultores familiares que possuem sistemas agroflorestais na região de Itabocal, Irituia (PA)
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-04-30) SANTOS, Tasseli Figueiredo dos; STEWARD, Angela May; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6123114287861055
This research project deals withthe processes of local knowledge, seedlings and seeds exchange among family farmers and the influences of these processes on the advancement of Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) and local agrobiodiversity. The project aims to analyze the dynamics local knowledge, seedling and seed exchange among farmers who have SAFs in Itabocal (Irituia-PA) region and their influences on local agrobiodiversity. Data collection was based on field research, in which an exploratory study of the area was carried out and visits were made to family farmers; at this time semi-structured interviews and/or a semi-open-ended questionnaires were conducted and accompanied by a guided tour. Afterwards, a sketch of the study area was presented to the farmers for them to indicate exchange relationships. Research results are described in three topics: the first deals with SAFs and the dynamics of seed and/or seedling exchange, describing the process of the advance of SAFs in the region and the role of the D'Irituia cooperative in this process. In relation to the exchange of seedlings and/or seeds, research showed that there is an intense flow of these materials between farmers and also outside the region at the municipal level, occurring during farmers' fairs, when they visit neighbors or family members, and during meetings or gatherings of cooperative farmers. The second topic deals with local knowledge, exchange and its relationship with technical-scientific knowledge, revealing that local knowledge is formed by the accumulation of cultural experiences, specifically with years of work and learning from older subjects combined with technical-scientific knowledge obtained from institutions. Therefore, the exchange of knowledge occurs both between farmers and between technicians or researchers through orality, being important to understand solidarity and reciprocity as bases for improving planting and production. The third topic deals with local agro-biodiversity from the formation of SAFs, revealing a diversity of 81 (eighty-one) species distributed in 45 (forty-five) botanical families, 59.8% for food use and 24.4% for wood use. In this sense, the processes knowledge seedling and seed exchange are fundamental for the advance of the SAFs in the region and have contributed significantly to the maintenance and management of local agrobiodiversity.

Etnoconhecimento do manejo de açaizais: a elaboração de material didático para contribuir com o diálogo de saberes entre ribeirinhos e assistência técnica nas Ilhas de Abaetetuba – PA
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-11-22) NEGRÃO, Antonia do Socorro Silva; BARBOSA, Wagner Luiz Ramos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1372405563294070; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2421-8245; MANESCHY, Rosana Quaresma; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5914095913079907; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4432-7331
Didactic material on the management of açaí groves (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) Produced, such as booklets and books; it usually contains illustrations associated with agronomic technical terms. The present product brings the systematization of the knowledge that surrounds the management of native açaí groves and the linguistic variations in the colloquial language used in the Abaetetuba Islands to contribute to the dialogue between technical assistance agents and the riverside residents. The material is composed of an agroecological sheet on the “Management of native açaizal in the islands of Abaetetuba - PA”, the book “Glossary of regional expressions related to the management of açaizais used by riverside dwellers in the islands of Abaetetuba - PA” and the exhibition “Artifacts of the local culture that permeate the extraction of açaí in Abaetetuba - PA ”. The agroecological form provides technical information on the management of açaí groves carried out by riverine people in simple and accessible language. The glossary lists, in alphabetical order, linguistic variations in the colloquial language used by riverine people, related to the management of açaizal, with the definition of these terms. The exhibition complemented the glossary by presenting parts of plants necessary for making the artifacts used from collection to the extraction of açaí, demonstrating the biocultural importance of different species for riverside dwellers.

Farming production systems are in continuous changing, and constantly new exploration techniques arise, affecting the natural resources and modifying the planted media. The impact of a new production system technology may interfere in the agricultors’ knowledge acquired and transmitted through generations. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the aspects of a technical change from traditional cultivation system (slash and burn) to the fire-free system experienced by the small farmers of Community São João (Pará’s northeastern) and its impact over a community’s traditional farming method. Semi- structured and structured interviews were used, as well as visits for data collection with 14 agricultors, who nine are called partner farmers and five neighbor farmers. The results obtained were: The fire-free method changes the small farmers practice (flexibilizates time for area preparation within the agricultural calendar, decreases the number of the work an control from invade ness in cleared land prepared, decreases the time for the area preparation, improves the quality of the ground -thus increasing agricultural productivity-, changes the way they used to proceed for plantation and the work an control from invade ness; the high cost of implantation and maintenance of the fire-free method (price for the machine acquisition and/or use of fertilizers) is considered by the agriculturists as the limiting factor for its consolidation; the small farmers choose the areas for the cultivation according to some characteristics of secondary vegetation (native color, age and species) and don’t consider types of area preparation for cultivation. Thus, this study concludes: (1) the culture systems of the São João locality had suffered impacts due to the technological innovation (fire-free of the secondary vegetation); (2) the preparation method doesn’t determine the choice of the areas for the implantation of the cultives; (3) the soil quality, according to the perception of the small farmers, is more related to the aspects and characteristics of the secondary vegetation.
