Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) O Celeiro da Amazônia: agricultura e natureza no Pará na virada do século XIX para o XX(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2015-06) LACERDA, Franciane Gama; VIEIRA, Elis Regina CorrêaThe aim of this paper is to understand how authorities and writers, who published in local newspapers from late nineteenth to early twentieth century, built an idea of progress and development for the state of Pará. It is about understanding, on one hand, the connections between rural areas, the forest and the city of Belém and, on the other, the ideas of progress and development through agriculture. In order to understand such connections, the article discusses three important problems: the "excesses" of nature, agricultural education and rural sanitation.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A gestão dos serviços de água e esgoto em áreas insular, o caso do município de Belém-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2019-02-21) SANTOS, Ana Carla Bezerra dos; MENDES, Ronaldo Lopes Rodrigues; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3384080521072847; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5584-8688The relevance of basic sanitation services to population health, the environment and development is widely recognized; However, problems related to the lack of these services and the existence of efficient public policies are recurrent in developing countries, such as Brazil, especially in poorer areas. In this context, the present work identifies the state of management of sanitation services provided in the island areas of the municipality of Belém-Pa, by collecting information provided by municipal officials and residents of the municipalities of Grande and Paquetá. islands, comprising the set of 39 islands that form together with the continental area, the territory of the municipality. Through this evaluation it was possible to identify the systematic absence of public power operating on the islands, as well as a set of potentialities that can lead to improvements in the management of sanitation services, and that include cultural characteristics that need to be considered for construction. public policies, financial and technical alternatives that enable the universalization of sanitation services in these areas.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Políticas de Estado e tecnologias sociais de água de chuva na Amazônia brasileira(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2023-04-27) BATISTA, Lucas Mota; SILVA, José Francisco Berrêdo Reis da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1338038101910673; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8590-2462; NAHUM, João Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9009465125001273The Brazilian Amazon is a region marked by the deficit in the drinking water supply, dispite of your vastness in water resources. This reality imposes itself mainly on the rural populations of the region. Indeed, the utilization of rainwater arise as an alternative to the public supply, safed and regular of water in territories not accessed by conventional services. Therefore, the present research aimed the construction of a investigative and reflective study, guided by the following question: in what extent the state has acted, through public policies instruments, in consideration of the potential of stormwater as a method of public supply in the Brazilian Amazon? The first chapter introduces the introductory aspects to the thematic. The second chapter presents the article 1, with the elaboration of a sizing of the quantitative potential of Rainwater Harvesting Systems (RWHS), and is based on a representative case report of the state of Pará. The chapter three (article 2) uses as reference the case of a riverside community in the insular region of the capital of Pará, Belém, for a comparative approach, in an analysis of the economic viability of this method. In addition, the chapter four (article 3) essentially seeks to answer the guiding question. Conclusively, the results point to, factually, at least over the 20 years, diferentes initiatives to promote the use of rainwater have taken place, supported by governmental entities in the Brazilian Amazon.
