Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) À procura de Mário Faustino tradutor(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-03-31) VERÍSSIMO, Thiago André dos Santos; LEAL, Izabela Guimarães Guerra; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2507019514021007The 1940s and the 1950s are significant for the process of cultural diffusion in Brazilian newspapers, with notable performances of writers, poets and scholars on many journals of that time. Thus, the ambiance of the newspapers became modern and creative on behalf of culture and literature. At that time, there were two newspapers which contributed, through their literary supplements, to the cultural movement in Belém, state of Pará, Brazil, which were: “Arte Literatura”, from Folha do Norte and “Arte e Literatura”, from A Província do Pará. In this ambiance, Mário Faustino has initiated his literary life publishing chronicles and poems in newspapers, and, above all, he worked as a translator of poetry. At the age of only 16 years old, Faustino has begun translating a laundry list of writers of international literature, from the Spanish, the French and the English. This analysis work aims to map Mário Faustino’s training as a translator, from his early translated poems. For this purpose, we discuss the notion of translation as a process of training and critical development.
