    Entre Belém e Castanhal: rede de transportes e circuito inferior da economia

    The study presents the debate concerning the transports in the space of circulation between Belém city and Castanhal city. The objective of this study is to demonstrate and to prove the inadequacy of the public transportations and the need of public politics than consider new variables in the metropolitan space, as the passengers' alternative transport, towards the regional development. The methodology used is historical and dialectical materialism and the research is qualitative and quantitative character, where did desk research and field research. This work is divided in 3 chapters: "Inferior circuit of the economy, state and transport system"; it "Transports alternative of passengers between Belém and Castanhal: a precarious complementarity"; it "Transports alternative of passengers: a new space variable in the metropolis". Where we drew the discussions concerning to demands for the transport and the need of state intervention in the circulation system, to give the necessary connection to the metropolitan space. To develop the study it was made a ten year-old temporary cutting (1998 - 2008), and space starting from the people's circulation between Belém and Castanhal.

    Pelos trilhos dos bondes: cidade, modernidade e tensões sociais em Belém de 1869 a 1947

    This investigation aims to analyze the spatial and social changes that happened in belém, through the tramway perspective, from 1869 to 1947. In this context, tramways appear as symbols of modernity and as locus where daily social phenomena could be observed, such as gender relations, social dominations and resistance, territorialization of urban space – partially generated by the gentrification process – the varying degrees of sociability and affectivities and social behaviors tacitly established, or imposed by posture codes. Thus, historical materialism is used as the main methodological support. Subjects like social distinction, social classification and symbolic power were analysed using Bourdieu´s concepts and categories. The processual sociology of Norbert Elias was also used to interpretate social phenomena, wich gave linearity to this investigation. The investigation has focused on three axes: the city´s history, the everyday life´s history, and tramway´s history. As a mean of interpreting the city´s history and daily life, the literature was used, regional mainly, and official reports from the city and tram companies, the media discourse and memory stories. We concluded that tramways changed their user´s perception of space and time, reproduced social group´s differences, provided new forms of sociability, fostered the growth of the city and connected the territories of a gentrified city.

    Políticas públicas e trabalho no transporte alternativo na Amazônia: moto táxi

    It analyzes the urban transports problematic, in the context of the Amazon region. The study aimed to describe and to analyze the transport of motorcycle-taxi in the cities of Castanhal, state of Pará, and Tefé, state of Amazon, as a realistic sample of this Region, front to the production necessities (private industry of motorcycle) and the reproduction (group of people). The study was: an exploration survey because has a little accumulated and systemize knowledge about the subject; explanatory, in reason of the search of relations between the variable; and descriptive, for the reason that esteem elements frequencies with definitive property or quantitative characteristic. The empirical research obeys a sampled plan. The search for knowledge on alternative transport was giving by bibliographical research. The conclusion of this scientific exposition is the public politics absence of urban transport in a context of non structuralize work market contributes for the sprouting of inadequate transports services for the perspective of security, and also in an singular chance of work, excludent, however of the roll of benefits capable to reduce the social risks of the involved workers in the activity.

    A vulnerabilidade às inundações e a capacidade de resposta do transporte público da cidade de Belém

    One of the greatest challenges faced by the contemporaneous cities is to guarantee the access to conditions that assure an acceptable and satisfactory quality of life for its citizens. In the city of Belem, the capital of the State of Para, there are evident urban environmental problems as inundations and floods, which are the result of the occupation process associated with the lack of urban planning. Nowadays, the historical cultural and commercial center of the city corresponds to the most vulnerable area, where the public transport is affected by the rainfall and the periodic high tidal cycle every day. The analysis of the city’s hydrography, weather and topography allows clarifying the reasons for the frequent occurrence of inundations and floods. Thus, based on these features, the present dissertation has as main objective to identify and analyze the vulnerability of the public transport’s system, as well as its responsiveness to the problems caused by the inundations and floods. There were analyzed the impacts suffered by the population, local company owners and the government. In order to do that, the methodology related the public transport’s lines with the flooded areas of Belem. The impacts suffered by the population, entrepreneurs and the public sphere where they were analyzed. For this purpose, the methodology related lines of public transport with flooding and wetlands of Bethlehem. It can be concluded that from the 164 lines of public transport circulating in Belem, 143 pass sometime in areas prone to flooding. The environmental vulnerability assessment and responsiveness were carried out where there is the highest concentration of public transport lines. At Avenida Bouvard Castilho Franca, on Avenida Almirante Tamandaré and Avenida 16 Novembro. User’s vulnerability to access services and urban infrastructure of public transport were analyzed, taking into consideration the impacts and changes in rain regime and high tide periods, as well as to verify SeMOB positioning and vulnerability over the environmental and structural setbacks in Belem. Bus users in vulnerable areas and the government body responsible for the urban transport sector (Semob) were interviewed, allowing an analysis of social vulnerability in urban areas and the effective participation of the public authorities to elaborate a key plan that prioritizes flood control in urban areas.
