(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006) SIMON, Jaime Édson; CAMARÃO, Ari Pinheiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1649891765946593; LOURENÇO JÚNIOR, José de Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2919433679918544
This work was realized through in the Embrapa Amazon Eastern, in Belem, Para State, Brazil (1º28´S 48º27´W de Greenwich) to evaluate the effect of four levels (0%, 15%, 30% and 45%) of concentrate, with by-products of the regional agroindustry, in substitution to the ensilage of sorghum, in the voluntary consumption and apparent digestibility of the dry matter, crude protein, crude energy, fiber in neutral detergent and fiber in acid detergent. A metabolic test was realized in fourteen days of adaptation and seven days of experimental period, using sixteen ovines, of five months and 23 kg of live weight, in a completely randomized experimental design, with four treatments and four repetitions. The data was analyze by software SAS. The concentrated inclusion of in the diet influenced the voluntary consumption and the apparent digestibility of all nutrients, being described for quadratic function. One evidenced a quadratic increase in the apparent consumption’s of the dry matter and organic matter. However, had been observed, with increase of the concentrated level of in the ration, significant reductions in contents of fiber in neutral detergent and fiber in acid detergent. The concentrated percentage of 30% to 45% of in the diet ration to better consumption’s and digestibility of the nutrients, except of fiber in neutral detergent and fiber in acid detergent. The concentrated use in the ensilage of sorghum, provides to better availability of dry matter in the fodder plant and rise of the nutritional value of the ration, is capable to promote increase of the animal productivity.

Food categories reconstruction and feeding consumption estimates for the Sciaenid Macrodon ancylodon (Bloch & Schneider), and the congeneric fishes Stellifer rastrifer (Jordan) and Stellifer naso (Jordan) (Pisces, Perciformes) in the Caeté Estuary, Northern Coast of Brazil
(2004-03) CAMARGO-ZORRO, Mauricio; ISAAC, Victoria Judith
A quantitative method to estimate fish feeding consumption and energy intake from different food categories through the reconstruction of ingested preys based on hard not digestible body structures is presented. In order to establish the equations of the functional relationships between preys weight and body structures, stomachs of 1.086 specimens of Macrodon ancylodon (Bloch & Schneider, 1801), Stellifer rastrifer (Jordan, 1889), and Stellifer naso (Jordan, 1889) fish species were dissected. Consequently, preys reconstruction enabled a quantitative evaluation of food categories consumption. Results indicate a marked difference in diet composition and energy requirements according to fish species ontogenetic development.

Nutritional potential of green banana flour obtained by drying in spouted be
(Sociedade Brasileira de Fruticultura, 2013-12) BEZERRA, Carolina Vieira; RODRIGUES, Antonio Manoel da Cruz; AMANTE, Edna Regina; SILVA, Luiza Helena Meller da
This study evaluated the chemical composition of peeled and unpeeled green banana Cavendish (AAA) flour obtained by drying in spouted bed, aiming at adding nutritional value to food products. The bananas were sliced and crushed to obtain a paste and fed to the spouted bed dryer (12 cm height and T = 80 ºC) in order to obtain flour. The flours obtained were subjected to analysis of moisture, protein, ash, carbohydrates, total starch, resistant starch, fiber. The green banana flours, mainly unpeeled, are good sources of fiber and resistant starch with an average of 21.91g/100g and 68.02g/100g respectively. The protein content was found in an average of 4.76g/100g, being classified as a low biological value protein with lysine as the first limiting amino acid. The results showed that unpeeled green banana flour obtained by spouted bed drying can be a valuable tool to add nutritional value to products in order to increase their non-digestible fraction.

Assesses the effects of inclusion of palm kernel cake in the diet of growing sheep reared under tropical conditions, with emphasis on effects on intake, digestibility and performance of ruminants. For testing the intake and digestibility was used 16 Santa Inês sheep, with a mean age of 3 months and weighing approximately 19 kg during 19 days, 14 of adaptation and five days of collecting data and samples from metabolic cages. And for performance, with 15 male 4 months old, the same breed, weighing approximately 20 kg for 56 days, distributed in a randomized blocks with four treatments: 0, 25, 50 and 75% inclusion of palm kernel cake in the concentrate, diets composed of 40% (dry matter basis) of silage, elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum) and 60% concentrate consisting of corn, soybean, palm kernel cake and minerals. The result showed a linear reduction in dry matter intake with the inclusion of palm kernel cake, but there was no statistically significant difference in dry matter digestibility. It was also noted an increase in digestibility of NDF and ADF in diets with higher proportions of palm kernel cake. In the performance test, there was a linear reduction in weight gain of animals as it raised the level of palm kernel cake in the diet, the result of lower dry matter intake (p <0.05) and worse feed conversion. The palm kernel cake is potentially productive, with high dry matter availability and good nutritional value. It is a good alternative to be used as a food supplement for sheep, but at higher levels can reduce animal performance, and its use depends on the purchase price and cost: benefit.

Qualidade nutricional das proteínas de cupuaçu e de cacau
(2008-06) LOPES, Alessandra Santos; PEZOA GARCÍA, Nelson Horacio; AMAYA-FARFAN, Jaime
Cupuassu has arisen as an important agricultural export product, with widespread market perspectives due to its acceptance amongst regional consumers and those in other Brazilian states. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the protein quality of powdered products formulated with roasted cupuassu and cocoa beans. According to the net protein ratio determined in biological trials using diets containing 10% protein in a 50:50 proportion of cupuassu or cocoa:casein, it was shown that cupuassu proteins presented a significantly superior (p ≤ 0.05) biological value as compared to cocoa proteins, promoting a 57.4% greater weight increase in the animals than cocoa proteins. With respect to the daily requirements of children and adults, the amino acid profile of cupuassu proteins presented a better performance than cocoa proteins.

The knowledge of the nutritional value of forage plants is of great relevance when it is intended to raise the productivity of the cattle systems in the Eastern Amazon, mainly in areas where deficiency of fodder plant of good quality occurs, in periods of water deficit. Thus, to characterize the potentiality of the leguminous Flemingia macrophylla (Willd.) Merril, as alternative for animal feeding, assumes excellent importance, therefore it can influence in the productive performance for meat and dairy cattle. This research aimed to evaluate the chemical composition, apparent digestibility and voluntary intake of this leguminous in the suplementary feeding of ruminants, in period of reduced availability of fodder plant and low nutritional value. The work was realized at the Embrapa Eastern Amazon, in Belem, Para State, Brazil (1º28'S 48º27'W). The nutrition characteristics of the leguminous were determined, during 21 days, with 16 sheeps, in individual metabolic cage, distributed in completely randomized, with four treatments and four repetitions. The experimental treatments (T1, T2, T3 and T4) contained Brachiaria humidicola and creasing levels of 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% of inclusion of F. macrophylla. The tannin level in the composition of the diet was 1.37; 0.62; 0.31 and 0.17%, respectively. The consumption of dry matter (g/day) and % of live weight were 901.8 and 2.4; 947.9 and 2.5; 859.5 and 2.2; e 930.2 and 2.5 and of crude protein 232.4; 188.7; 132.1 and 107.6 g/day. The coefficients of digestibilidade were 54.1; 59.2; 55.1; e 62.0%, in dry matter, and 57.3; 61.2; 57.6; e 64.0% in organic matter and the crude protein were 63.2; 60.5; 51.4; 52.0%, respectively. The leguminous has feeding potential, with high availability of dry matter, to be used as alternative for ruminants feeding supplementation, mainly in critical periods. Level of inclusion of F. macrophylla, around 75%, make possible greater consumption of the dry matter, organic matter and of fiber fractions and 100% allow better consumption of crude protein and gross energy.
