Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/6715This paper investigates the acoustic correlates of the prominent syllable, henceforth accent mark in the apurinã language, taking in consideration the hypotheses of Facundes (2000) and Brandão ( 2010). The research investigates possible acoustic correlates of the stress such as F0, intensity and duration of the vowels in stressed syllables with secondary stress and unstressed syllables to verify, from statistical analysis, which one is the most important correlate associated with stress in the language.
